"I have all 9 modular buildings and about 70 other sets. This one is the most unique in appearance. A building more for a side street in place of Main Street in the Lego town. This is a nice change of pace. There are no stickers. All printed parts!! This adds to the quality of the product. I think the safe in the detective's office should have had a printed door. Lucky for me I had one in my spare parts bin to give the office the complete finished look it deserved. The theme of the set is fun with the cookie prohibition. My 7 yr old enjoyed the story line. However, I think it went a little too far with the "playability" in this aspect with trying to make a secret passage from the barber shop to the pool hall. This especially takes away from the barber shop with an obvious design intended to be a handle to open the passage. It takes away from the overall appearance of the interior. The actual reflective mirror in the barber shop helps to make up for this. Overall, there are lots of parts for hours of creative fun. The level of detail (and creative building techniques) is so far beyond what was done in the original Café Corner modular, it is hard to believe they are a part of the same series. The modular series as a whole is a great toy and investment. To improve these sets Lego should get away from the traditional smiley face and go for ones with further details to match what is being done with the buildings. Also, as they had done with the Fire Brigade, they should have vehicles included in the sets that are reflective of the 30's-40's to add to the overall street scene and theme of the buildings being created. If you like large Lego sets for the parts or for display, you won't be disappointed with this one."

"Really enjoyed this set just one downside on the two balconies the top one was missing the hand rail that goes across it. Is there anyway of getting a spare piece."
"This building is decent, but it seems like the modulars are starting to be directed to younger people. The cookies storyline is so stupid. Why would someone try to slide a barrel full of cookies through a barber shop, under the stairs and into the pool hall when you could just walk right through the back door of the pool hall? It seems like the designers needed something to put on the top floor so they just made up this storyline so they would be able to put a random kitchen when there is no house and it would make sense. Less attention needs to be payed to the senseless trap doors and more attention to things in the building that would actually serve a purpose. Also the exterior colors need to be fixed as this building stands out from the others. Some good things about the set are the reflecting mirror, the pull-chain toilet, and the lettering. But like I said before a lot of the details are childish. Please make the next modular a bit more mature looking."

"I give this set a 6 its staring to get ridiculous i can barely fit my hand it is very disappointing to see lego sets getting smaller for an massive price because i remember when lego was a fair price. I love lego but this set isn't their best work. I like the look but don't have the story line because the 99% of the buyers are 13+ and they want real build look and get inspiration, not a little kid set with a story line in it that would work for lego city but not lego creator expert. I would suggest the others modular buildings before this one. Hopefully lego gets their fax straight for the next modular building."

Thank you for the review. I noticed also that the interior was a little tight making some play functions difficult. This will be discussed amongst the designers as many builders do enjoy the play features.
In regards to the storyline of the set I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy it and that it affected your building/play experience. Every set actually has a story behind it but not always is the story shared. The designer enjoyed the set and the story so much that he wanted to share it with all the Creator Expert builders.
