" The Detective's Office is one of the best Lego Modular sets out there. It is ridiculously detailed, and I enjoyed building it a lot. It fits well with the other buildings in the Modular line.
On the bottom floor, there is a pool hall on the left called the Highlander. It is nice and the pool table that is in it is fun.
Al's barbershop, next to the pool hall, is small but detailed. The mirror inside is cool, and while building you install it into the wall.
There is an alleyway in the middle of this building, and it is the first Modular set with an alley. The spaces above it on the second and third floors have small decks with railings.
The detective(Ace Brickman)'s office is large and has many cool features, such as a hidden compartment in the wall.
The bathroom across from the office has a pull-chain toilet, with a minuscule sink. That is pretty much all there is on the right side, other than a potted plant.
On the third floor, there is a skylight looking down into the detective's office. On the right side, there is a kitchen with many details. There is a stove and a rolling pin, and also a cat.
The minifigures of this set:
-Ace Brickman(detective) with hat and hairpiece
-Policewoman with hairpiece detectivand hat
-Lady with a red dress
-Al the barber
-Darts player
-Pool player with stocking hat
This set is amazing and I hope that buyers enjoy this set as much as I do. "

A lovely addition, but just shy of perfect

" As a standalone set, this is a fantastic build. The intricate details bring life and character to each and every room, and the textures and colours are a nice combination in my opinion. There's plenty going on, and it was an appealing choice to have two distinctly different buildings in one. The inclusion of a real mirror was superbly done, with it fitting in perfectly with its surroundings and adding a certain finesse to the room. The clever build methods dotted throughout the construction kept things interesting too.
However, there are some things that just keep this product from being perfect in my eyes, and that is because I am comparing it to the other modulars. I have to echo what was said in another review, in that the predetermined storyline felt like a somewhat more childish addition to the modular range. It certainly shows that the designers have put a lot of thought into its playability, and it undoubtedly adds a lot of fun to the building, but that in itself makes it stand out from the others. Previously, each building has stood tall and proud, and as a blank canvas for the builder to create a story or else leave it as an impressive visual display. By comparison, the Detective's Office seems more... I don't know... "cartoonish", and looks ever so slightly out of place next to the towering Town Hall or elegant Parisian Restaurant. The seedy aura given off by the pool hall players, the hidden passages and the theme of prohibition, while a highly appropriate setting for a detective's office, jar slightly against the prim and proper nature of the other sets. That, and it is considerably shorter!
To conclude, I really do like this set and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good challenging build with a lovely, playable structure at the end. There is plenty to see and do, and it provides a lot of fun. But for those die-hard fans of the modular range, you may feel a little underwhelmed by this otherwise excellent product. "

" 10246 Detective's Office is my first modular building set, and it did not disappoint; the build was challenging, and the piece count was what I expected for the price. I put the build time as 5 days only because I started building on the Thursday evening and built on and off around homework and illness until the late afternoon of the Tuesday, so I'm not exactly sure how long I actually spend on the build. There are many small sections that you come across at various points that use bricks in interesting, unexpected ways (such as the bench at the front-right of the building, the chair in the office and the pool table), and the extra feature of the barrel passageways on the ground floor is impressive (a barrel containing round 1x1 plates printed as sweets can be pushed into the barber's shop through a grate at the rear of the building, out from behind a cabinet, then under the alleyway floor via a false wall in the barber's shop, then out into the pool hall through a hidden gap beneath the trophy alcove). There is a kitchen on the top floor made to look like it is producing sweets, which fits in well with the barrel passageway (the sweets could be made on the top floor, then taken downstairs and outside, then put into the barber's shop through the wall, then taken into the pool hall to be sold). My only suggested improvement for this set would be to add a door at the point where the stairs meet the alleyway, to make the building seem a little more secure. This is only a minor suggestion, and overall I thoroughly enjoyed building this set. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. "

" This building is decent, but it seems like the modulars are starting to be directed to younger people. The cookies storyline is so stupid. Why would someone try to slide a barrel full of cookies through a barber shop, under the stairs and into the pool hall when you could just walk right through the back door of the pool hall? It seems like the designers needed something to put on the top floor so they just made up this storyline so they would be able to put a random kitchen when there is no house and it would make sense. Less attention needs to be payed to the senseless trap doors and more attention to things in the building that would actually serve a purpose. Also the exterior colors need to be fixed as this building stands out from the others. Some good things about the set are the reflecting mirror, the pull-chain toilet, and the lettering. But like I said before a lot of the details are childish. Please make the next modular a bit more mature looking. "
