" i just finished the Detective's Office and I must say that the detail was wonderful. I own 7 other modular sets and with each new one that is released the detail just gets better and more innovative. Yes, I have noticed that the newer sets seem to be a little smaller than the Town Hall, Grand Emporium or Green Grocer, for example, but for display purposes, I really enjoy the smaller size sets. The detail is what makes the building experience so enjoyable. Yes, the room sizes were definitely smaller but aesthetically it's really a very attractive set. I don't mind paying a little extra for the smaller set.. In my opinion, the designer probably put forth a lot of extra effort during the design process (i.e. fan on top of filing cabinet and hall tree with hat, pool sign, etc.). I just ordered the Brick Bank and am looking forward to receiving it in the near future. This set is a must have for anyone who enjoys the modular sets. It's a really nice addition to my collection. "

" As a huge fan of the Expert line I was really looking forward to building this set as it plays up to my love of the Pulp detective novels.
i will say that for me the outside is quite striking, and there were lots of great pieces used in its construction but there was really anything new to learn in the construction of the set.
The added "story and play features" were unnecessary and for me took away from the model as a whole.
My list of grievances:
the walls in the alley that stop short of the top.
the stairs that are just open inside the barber shop
the pool hall being so undersized.
after building the first level and finding all my issues with the set i went back to the lego store and bought a second copy so i could make everything bigger and take away my issues with the set.
As the title states the Detective's Office is a Beautiful step backwards after last years Parisian Cafe. "
I would recommend this to a friend!

" My mother and I have randomly wandered into a Lego store and picked up this set with help from the store manager. We selected this product for its variety of stores and colors. This was my first set of legos ever, and it sat off my journey as a legos fan with a fantastic experience. (I barely got to play with legos as a child) My mother and I worked together and had a wonderful experience building this set.
The finished structure looks great, the interior details and the design booklet completely blew my mind. I think most of my challenges came from not being able to find the right piece or loosing bricks (HAHA I'm not very organized..)
I personally had a great experience building this set. Collecting and putting together coherent bricks has been extremely relaxing and therapeutic.
Thank you for making my first experience with lego awesome! "

" There are many words I would use to describe this set,but the one that does it the best justice is AWESOME. The first story is great ,the pool hall is amazing and the detail on the pool table,cue rack,and gold trophy is probably the best I have ever seen. The barber shop has cool features also,like secret passages, and the checkered floor. The second story is not boring at all. The detectives office is PACKED with surprises including a big desk and a file cabinet. The second story even has a nice bathroom. The third and final story has a small but detailed bakery were they make illegal cookies. The roof has a water tower and sky light for the detectives office. Lego has out done them selves,and I would definitely recommend buying this set. You will not be disappointed. "
