"I thoroughly enjoyed building the Detective's Office. There were so many great constructions. Here are just a few: 1. The hidden passage way. 2. The water tower. 3. The old style washroom. 4. The pool table.
I also love that we get a new color! (light royal blue) and the large amount of masonry bricks. And let's not forget all the printed tiles and printed windows.
A few minor cons (if I am going to name any) 1. Too easy to build for an expert set 2, Too much repetitive build. 3. Wish the roof top above the Barber shop has some more details. These are all very minor things. 1 & 2 can even be viewed as a good thing if you want to build it will your younger children. One can always custom some more details one the roof top ourself."

"I have been a fan of LEGO for a while now, and just recently started thinking about constructing a city for my stop-motion show.
The moment this set came out I thought that it would be great in small city. When it arrived I was surprised at how big the box was! All day through school I couldn't wait to get started at building it. When the time finally came, I ripped open the package and was amazed at how full the box was! It took about 6 and 1/4 hours to complete, and I enjoyed every minute of it. There are some things in this building that I didn't really appreciate, though (although it might just have to do with my own personal preferences). I guess I'll list the pros and cons like other reviewers do.
Pros:
It comes with a great variety of pieces.
The minifigures are fun, and can be used to play out the story on the box.
A fun background/story that comes with the building.
Hidden doors and sliding panels for smuggling cookies.
The interior is more decorated and detailed than most of the other buildings in the modular building series.
And now I guess the Cons:
Only two and 1/2 floors, rather than 3.
The floors are detailed but crowded, so little kids won't enjoy playing with it that much.
When doing stop-motion, it is hard to make a minifigure walk between the pool table and wall, because of a lack of space.
The bathroom is clever, but crowded.
Minifigures have to go through the sweets shop in order to access the roof, so the shop can't really get "locked up".
Over all, it was a good buy, and I'm glad that I got it. I had very few problems with it, and my five year old niece likes to play with it, although once I got the Pet Shop the Detective's office mysteriously got dusty. =)
I would totally recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting it, and I have already recommended it to several friends. So far I have the Pet Shop, Detective's Office, and Town Hall, and am looking forward to getting the other buildings that are currently available.
Thank you, LEGO, for the modular building series!"

"Everything about this set is awesome. Details, details, details!! This set has them. From the sports pub setting on the ground floor, to the detectives office on the top, this set has so much character. I own all the new modular building - Parisian Restaurant, Brick Bank, Assembly Square - and this one might be my favorite. It's not as ornately decorated from the exterior as perhaps the Brick Bank or The Parisian Restaurant, but it more than makes up for that with the little character details throughout. It's a super fun build and one heck of a display piece. Especially when combined with the other newer Modular Buildings."

"My 1st two modular sets arrived yesterday and I was itching to get home from work, put on some music, and get stuck into building the Detective's Office.
I was confident that I'd knock it over in a few hours but I u underestimated the time it takes using familiar bricks in unfamiliar ways. LEGO has put some very cool features into this building, my favourite being the "prohibition" theme in the Barber's shop & the Highlander. I chose this as my first set as I go by the mane "AL" and having Al's Barber shop in my little town is pretty cool.
Anyway, I got to bed at 2am after an enjoyable 8 hour build"
