"lets say... it took me a long time to build. this is my 2nd modular building "my 1st being the pet shop" im so awed at what the Lego company can do. Who made this one? Andy or Jamie? But anyways. I am so impressed by these each little corner has some detail. from the bakery to the swivel chair in the barber shop. Irs called "detectives office" but should be called the "the highlander pool and more, the barber shop and detectives office and break room and fire escape and secret systems under the path ways, and bakery, and more and more". thats what it should be called. I will also say that it took longer to build than last year when i built the pet shop. like double the time! i even played on my new xbox last year. Well, i also layed hockey with my new gear for a whileso maybe that was what it is.... but, it still was hareder. so all in all, its 100% plus!"

"Owning most of the previous modular buildings (and in some cases several) i was looking forward to the new offing for 2015.
However when i first saw the Detective agency i was in 2 minds about it, the architecture looks nice but the build looked simple to me.
In the interests of completeness i decided after some deliberation to take the plunge and buy said item, although like some of the other reviews i feel the story element is quite pointless im pleasantly surprised with the building over all.
Yes its tight and quite small however there is a lot packed into it and although not a difficult build it has some nice features.
Overall i like the Detective agency a lot more than i though i would, if you are looking to only but one modular i'd look at the Parisian restaurant over this but that said its definately worth buying and im glad that i did."
Thank you for looking at my review. This is my fourth modular and the first one that I have purchased as soon as it was available. This is a very different modular than any others I have collected. I currently have the Cinema, Pet Shop, Parisian Restaurant, and now Detective Agency.
I love the use of colors and the new gimmicks associated with a story line. Granted I have very large hands and will not make use of the gimmicks at all, but I thought it was a playful way to add some whimsy to the set as a whole.
I love love love the use of the exposed brick pieces. I would love to see Lego do the Ghostbusters Fire Station using these brick pieces so that I had a home for Ecto-1.
I love the use of windows and allowance of natural light. This set has far more windows that any other modular I have.
I really like all the new elements as well including the scissors, mirror, and connector pieces to make the lamp posts.
I have to say my favorite part of the set is the pool hall and I greatly wish the space had been expanded a tad more to include a couple bar tables and maybe even an old jukebox or something like that. When you look at the set from the side it is very narrow and the designers could have easily gone back another six rows or so to make pool hall bigger. There is just too much exposed base plate from the back for my liking.
Probably the absolute best part of the set though is the fact that there are NO STICKERS!! It is wonderful to have every detailed element printed...especially the Detective window and the pool hall windows.
This is a very great set for the price. I'm not quite sure the $159.99 US is as justified as $159.99 US for the Parisian. I think this set should have fallen in at $149.99 US.
I hope you take the time to add this great piece to your Creator collection as there is enough there to keep experts and children alike interested.
I would rate my sets from favorite to least favorite as follows...

"This set is amazing. The detail on the roof by using bionicle or Hero Factory fists was clever and gave the building great architecture. My favorite part about the set was the pool hall and the actual detectives office. The set also came with new parts such as Lego scissors, which adds detail to the barber shop or hair salon. Overall, I give this set an A+"
