"At first I wasn't going to get this set but when I read it came with the pilot's blaster pistol I was all, "I gotta have this bad boy!". And I'm glad I got it too bc that is one sweet blaster pistol. True, it is exactly the same as any other blaster pistol but this one is different bc it came in a UCS set and belongs to a Gold Leader minifig. The ship is fine"

"Words cannot describe how amazing the wheelchair and baby are. I thought the chair would be built but it's all one piece, just have to put the wheels on. This is amazingly progressive for Lego to create this character and he goes great with the banana peel guy on crutches from series 15!
The baby is unbelievably cute. The arms not moving is kinda a bummer but the head comes off which gives me hope that there will be more babies to come so that you switch heads. The stroller he/she goes in is great too.
All the other minifigs are awesome too. Lots of rare and new torsos, hair, heads and legs. The hotdog bun is sweet and goes great with the hotguy from series 13.
Best set in a long time and it goes really well with many other sets. For serious minifig collectors and just kids having fun this is a must have set!"

"I don't usually review sets even though we're huge Lego consumers/fans here but I had to on the Detective set. It is so incredibly packed with functions like hidden doors/compartments etc it is amazing. Plus, no stickers! And the mirror!? Are you kidding me!? That one really blew us away. Lots and lots of rare bricks here too. Bravo Lego! The designers really knocked it out of the park with this one. The story is very cute too and easily modifiable to whatever story you choose."

"It's awesome that we have Simpson figs finally and there are some very cool ones here BUT there are a few glaring problems.
1. The price - $1 more than normal, that's a 33% increase! I get that there are licensing fees but the Simpson house, which is awesome btw, was less than 10 cents/piece. That is well below the usual 15-16 cents/piece for other licensed products (star wars I'm looking at you). Why the inconsistent and dramatic price increase for the minfigs?
2. Variants AND key characters missing - There are 5 variants/duplicates here! The entire Simpson family and Flanders were also in the house set. So 5 duplicates and some main characters are missing such as Moe, Barney, Mr. Smithers, Skinner, Carl and Lenny, comic book guy etc etc.
In a nutshell, Lego is charging a premium for this set and is giving us duplicates/variants AND not including some very key characters! The absence of Smithers is especially baffling considering that we have Mr. Burns.
