Rockin Vehicle!!!
" Lego did a wonderful job adding detail, the decals dont look too busy like on the top gear car. Lots of playability running over obstacles and taking it out to the RC track.
A few things to take note, dollar per brick the volvo dumptruck is a bigger better experience with more than double the amount of pieces. On the other hand this set is a bit more fun to play with. When you have a set like this you really want to take it outside and drive it around, that said I think lego should have printed decals onto the bricks instead of giving you stickers.
I now have 4 of the control app models and I can 100% tell you that the design team is segregated and its hurting the products. Let me explain; the software engineers working on the app are in one location, the master buiders are in another and then the firmware engineers who create the servos and motors are completely unaware of how there products function and what they are being used for. This has led to all the models i have including this one to drive slowly and struggle to crawl over obstacles. Everyone needs to be in one big open room talking to each other and testing the products. On that note, If you want to make this 4x4 move faster or crawl better I suggest going to youtube and looking at the RacingBrick’s channel.
In summary this model is the funnest yet, i happened to get one on the way out of Legoland Florida. I was disappointed that Legoland didnt support the Lego VIP store discounts and promotions. "

Beautiful, Fun, Challenging, Punishing
" I love Lego’s attention to detail. This is a really beautiful set that will put the heart of a child back into any adult.
I like the direction lego is going with the app. Its very dynamic and it adds more of a sense of realism. However, the model itself is sometimes really slow even on top gear it lacks pulling power and speed. I think the app needs to have a recalibrate button, it may have one but i didnt see it and had to delete and re-download the app. I sometimes think that the firmware engineers and the software engineers are on 2 different planets and they need to be in one big studio together so everyone can see what the others are working on.
This model is a really challenging build, not for kids or people new to lego. It requires a strong level of focus and a keen eye for detail. If you mess up one little detail the whole kit will not work. For example i got to the calibration phase and the hydraulic lift for the bucket fell apart. Turns out i miss interpreted the assembly to the gear box. I needed needle nose pliers to get the pins out. Thankfully i was able to fix it and move on without completely disassembling. Given the complexity and fastening of each gear section to the total gear box it can be tricky to tell if everything snapped together. Multiple points snapping means multiple chances of messing something up. I dont think the images in the instructions are enough. I think there needs to be periodic points in the instructions that point to components and ask you to move them to make sure everything is in line and working. But even then a video showing the more tricky aspects of assembly would be very helpful.
Stickers are fun for small static models but this is something that people want to take outside and drive around. We all know that lego stickers over time pucker and peel away. I recommend just printing directly onto the pieces themselves.
The assembly of the engine block and the cab was hard because as you are connecting pieces you are popping pieces off so it becomes a delicate process of push and pull which can cause mis-alignment. I can easily see people either out of frustration or by accident possibly breaking pieces on this kit
Over all this is a really rigid build. Im not at all concerned about it falling apart. Even though I would recommend this kit there are strings attached to that recommendation. I definitely think the model could be designed to go faster. It looks great set up on a desk or a shelf, definitely a conversation piece. I need an rc loader to build now. "

Excellent product overall
" I’m at the age where i only care about paying my bills so i was very happy that my sister surprised me with this on my bday. I couldn’t wait to build it and i enjoyed every second definitely cheered me up and broke up the monotony of my 60 hour work week schedule. I love the attention to detail and the construction of this model was methodically thought out; although you could probably add a couple more arrows in the directions to show where pieces snap together i had to do a few double takes to assemble. My only issue is that the app might need some minor adjustments. When shifting gears it will show on the app but physically the car is not accelerating it just maintains the same speed; i tested this using both manual and automatic transmission; this happens sometimes not always. Also the tilt mode for steering only works if you hold your phone perfectly center but even then turning can be tricky. I am using an i-phone, but this may be a firm ware issue. On the other hand i think its incredible that you programmed this car to shift gears and for the most part it physically adjusts speed. I love the extra layer of depth that the app provides with sound, challenges and the ability to drive the car using different modes. "
