"This was a really fun build that was slightly challenging. Despite the number of legs and similar things to build, it was surprisingly NOT tedious. The sheer amount of colorful bricks was amazing and it used a lot of build techniques I've never seen. I wish there was some slightly better articulation, and of course it would have been great if the lions were big enough for mini figures, but I understand how challenging it must have been to design this as it is. So, my only real complaint is, Why No Pilot Figures? I know the lions are not mini fig scale. Still, it would have been nice to have the pilot figures."
"I received this as a gift, and to be honest, my first impression upon seeing it was "Meh". However, like most Lego sets, upon building it I had a better appreciation for it and it wasn't all that bad. I still don't like the aesthetics of it, and to be honest, it's one I'll give my kids to play with and not care if they demolish it.
With that said, what's up with these Star Wars summer-release sets Lego? We got some really uninspired sets this season. Another X-Wing that's the same as Poe's, only in blue? This Star Scavenger? The only thing worth noting is the Turbo Tank this season."
"I was excited to get this Turbo Tank, but after assembly it is not quite what I thought. Based on the images and description, I was hoping for a fun and interesting suspension system. Instead, all it is are two suspensions, one on either side of the center wheel. The rest of the wheels just connect by one pin so that they swivel-tilt to either side. It's not bad, but not great. It is also on the small side, and at only 900 pieces, the $110 price is kind of steep in my opinion. Overall the set is okay, but not nearly as exciting as I had hoped. My son loves rolling it around the floor, so for kids and play, I give this higher marks.
With that said, I can't help but wonder why they didn't release a UCS Turbo Tank? We've already had the Turbo Tank in at least two other iterations. I've heard that the Turbo Tank has always been a hot seller, so why not do a 2,000+ piece UCS version? It would make an EXCELLENT cross-over with a Technic build as well. They could incorporate working all-wheel drive, full suspension on all wheels, etc. etc. Seriously Lego: UCS Technic-build Turbo Tank. You'd sell out immediately."
"I never got the original Infiltrator when it came out, so I can't judge this one based off the original. As a set, it's pretty fun to build. I know people are complaining about the price - and rightfully so, as Legos are already quite expensive and I've noticed a LOT of price-creep lately - however, this set does contain a LOT of LARGE pieces. It's not filled with a ton of technic pins. You get a lot of large-sized bricks and plates, which is nice. Aesthetically I've never liked this Lego set. It just looks kind of "meh". However, it is a fun build and it is nice and large when complete."
"I don't know what to say. Seriously, I think Lego had a ton of white bricks in stock that they didn't know what to do with and somebody said, "Hey, why don't we do a Hoth set!". From this disparate overstock of white bricks Lego has cobbled together the biggest disaster to ever bear the UCS stamp. You get a handful of small, partially finished "things" to play with. Partially finished because they all look terrible from the back with exposed pieces. It's such a mess. "Assault on Hoth"... yeah, with an entire TWO - count 'em, TWO - Snowtroopers! Wow, Lego. If this is what UCS has come to, maybe I should start looking elsewhere...."
"This is a neat set, but I don't know if I was just feeling a little "off" during the build or if it was all the unusual building techniques, but this set gave me a couple problems. Nothing major, just a couple annoyances where I had to go back and re-do something. I've built a number of SW and other Lego sets (including the Sand Crawler and Heli-Carrier) and this set uses a number of building techniques that I have never seen before."
"Picked this up at my local TRU along with the companion Phantom set. The kit is one of the funnest I have built with my son in a long time. Lots of great construction, and lots of different colored pieces you don't typically get in a SW set. My only complaints are that the Phantom really should come as part of this kit. You can't have the Ghost without it, so it should really not be sold separately. My second complaint is that while the ship is great, I wish it was larger. In the show the ship has lots of chambers, but this kit really has nowhere for the figures to interact other than the cockpits. The Millennium Falcon has a large inner chamber by comparison, and I wish this kit had something similar (though I know that would make this into a $150+ set)."
"The B-Wing is an alright set, but there is nothing especially fun or inspiring about it, in my opinion. As a set, it's a little on the small side for my liking. Yes, the cockpit spins to accommodate the flight patterns. And yes, the wings flip up and down. However, I wish there were some type of gear mechanism to make both wings flip at the same time. Also, the cockpit needs more weight in the bottom so that it spins correctly. It's too light and often sits lopsided or doesn't completely turn as you rotate the model. My kids have fun with it, but as a Lego collector and fan myself, I see the flaws that more discerning builders will pick up on. If you like Lego SW, the B-Wing is a must have. It's a little disappointing, but I realize this is not supposed to be a "big build" set."
"The AT-AT is one of my all-time favorite Star Wars vehicles. I've built the previous version of the Lego AT-AT and this version holds up well. I like how sturdy it is and the mobility of the legs is great. Building the legs gets a little tedious, but that's to be expected whenever you have a set that needs multiples of the same exact thing (in this case, 4 identical legs). My only complaint (and this is for all Lego sets that use this technique) is the discs that go on the leg joins are just held by the single stud and tend to fall off easily if you play with the model or try to pose it. I wish there was a more secure method of holding these things in place. That minor qualm aside, this is a fantastic set and looks menacing and intimidating when placed near your Lego Minifigs! My dream is that Lego will one day release an Ultimate Collectors set of this with like 3,000 pieces so that I can have a gargantuan AT-AT, just like in the movies. Please, Lego..... :)"
"First I want to say that I love the huge Lego sets. Ultimate Collector sets to me are always the best, and one of the things I appreciate about the UC sets is the info plaque that comes with them. The plaques really add to the display value. And herein lies my gripe with this set. I realize this set does not have a stand, but next to my other UC sets it just looks incomplete without its own. I just don't understand why they wouldn't have given this set one.
That aside, the set itself looks fantastic. I do wish it were slightly larger, but the thing still looks amazing. Also, there is so much play value with this set. The cranes and ramps are great.
One last thing, the instruction manual is great. It has a lot of info on the Sandcrawler and other facts you don't normally see in instruction manuals. But, as cool as all the info is, I'd still rather have that plaque.
C'mon Lego, release the plaque as an aftermarket purchase or something. I know I'm not the only person missing it!"
