Conflicting thoughts
" I have some conflicting thoughts on this set.
First, it is more fun and looks better than it photographs. I was not too impressed with the pictures I saw, but the difference between pictures and reality is much more pronounced than most sets.
Second, and on the other hand, there's so much tan and gray, and so much random rock formation stuff, that it is kind of boring to build. I did bags 1, 2, 3, and 8--which comprises the bat-poles, Bruce Wayne's study, and all the vehicles--first, and in all honesty I would've been really happy with a set that just included that much. Bags 4, 5, 6, and 7 were kinda dull, and I feel I would've gotten better value from a set that didn't include them. I'd have to say this is my least favorite of the 5 sets I own in the $200+ price range.
But on the third hand, my two daughters (ages 5 and 3 1/2) said this is their favorite set of all the ones we own. They love playing minifigs from this set and our Lego Batman Movie sets (with some Lego Disney Princesses dropping by as well) in the study and the vehicles. (They don't really play with the other two pieces of the bat cave though.)

great set even if not a Ninjago fan
" I saw (and loved) the Lego Movie and Lego Batman, but I admit I really didn't know or care much about Ninjago.. I just thought this set looked cool and seemed like a good value after reading some reviews of it. And I was right: it's incredibly cool, with lots of great details inspired by Japanese culture; a really fun build that taught me some new techniques; and fun for my daughters (5 and 3-and-a-half) and me to play with. And now we'll probably go see the Ninjago Movie when it comes out in September, so, mission accomplished on that front!
One odd note: my package had three full extra bags of bricks, one from the #11 bags, one from the #14 bags, and one from the #16 bags. I've never seen that in a Lego product before. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
