Own one of the most unique starfighters in galaxy
" I bought this during the May 4th promotion, so it was a tremendous value to me. At full price, I was very hesitant to buy this set despite my initial interest. Now that I have it, I would have no problems with the full price tag.
Simply put, this set is amazing. You're not just paying for the pieces. You're buying into the wonderful engineering and creativity that went into the set. It floors me sometimes what can be accomplished using Lego and this set is no exception.
This set is highly detailed and true to the actual fighter in the movie. After building this thing, I wish the B-wing fighter had more air-time in the classic trilogy. This thing is armed to the teeth! Three ion cannons! I mean common! The Empire doesn't stand a chance. You saw what a few shots from the ground-based ion cannon did to that Star Destroyer at the Battle of Hoth. Granted, the ones installed on the B-wing are the "lite" versions, but still... That's a lot of bum-whooping power that I would have loved to see.
Alas, I digress. If you are collecting UCS models like me, you must have this. It is an impressively large model with lots of details. It is sturdy as a display model, but definitely not playable due to the heft and some delicate areas.
Buy it and enjoy it! "

A First Class Second Release of an Iconic Starship
" Pictures don't do this Lego model justice. They don't adequately capture the beauty, vibrancy and the impressive size of this model.
I've been a recent collector of UCS LEGO models. I currently have the Imperial Shuttle, Vader's TIE Advanced, the B-Wing Fighter and new the new X-Wing. I can say that the new X-Wing model stacks up favorably with my collection.
The only real drawback is the use of stickers for the cockpit windows. I agree with the other reviewers that this should have been a printed piece, given how prominent and visible the cockpit windows are.
But I'll share with you guys a little secret on how I was successful in putting on the stickers on the first try. Get a small bowl with some warm water in it. Put enough water so that you can easily wet the surfaces of the window. Add a couple drops of dishwasher detergent and mix. Before doing anything, make sure your window is nice and clean.
Ok, now soak all surfaces of the window with your water/detergent solution. Peel your sticker off the sheet. I recommend that you start with the large middle section. Take care not to touch the clear parts (adhesive side) with your fingers, as your prints will transfer. Slowly place the sticker on the window, adding drops of water/detergent in the window as you lay down the sticker. You will immediately notice three nice benefits: 1) no air bubbles form, 2) if they do form, you can press them away, 3) the sticker can move about on the window when wet (to help in centering). When you are satisfied with the sticker placement and there are no airbubbles, get a paper towel and carefully dry the sticker as much as you can by dabbing it. Let the sticker dry over the next 30 or so minutes. Watch that no airbubbles form. If they do, just press them away. Let the sticker dry before taking on the next sticker. Once dried, the adhesive takes hold and it will be very difficult to remove the sticker. But you won't have to, because you just successfully executed the perfect sticker placement!
Anyways, I love my model. It is a MUST HAVE addition to any collection. "
