Great to see another science related Friends set!
" While I wish the observatory tower itself was a more substantial build, I’m impressed by the size and quality of the exploration vehicle. There's enough room for two mini-dolls and cargo space in the back for tools and Olivia's laptop. My favorite aspect of the vehicle are the new sticker designs. They look like atoms with little hearts in place of the nucleus and electrons. It’s adorable and science-y all at the same time! The colors are great too. Love the dark pink, rather than the light pink from previous sets.
The highlight of this set for me is the Observatory Tower and Sky Map. I wish the observatory was a bit bigger or more complex, (and would pay more for a bigger science-related Olivia set in the future,) but for the price this telescope is good. I like that the whole platform rotates and the telescope itself can be tilted up and down. Well designed for such a simple build.
The sky map is on an easel so you can tilt it forward or back. The starchart sticker is great, and the working removable magnifying glass is cool, but my favorite little touch is the yellow post-it note in the corner! It has a couple things scribbled on it, and it’s a printed piece, not just a sticker. I can relate to it because I have sticky notes all over my computer screen, so it personalizes the set all the more. (My set actually came with two note pieces, so I can use one with my other creations, yay!)
Zobo the robot has had some upgrades since I last saw him a few years ago in Olivia's Invention Workshop. Most notably, he now has rotating wheels, rather than stationary feet! The antenna on his back can be used to help him keep balance, which is smart. And I like that he has hands that can hold things like tools or a cup of hot chocolate!
Hopefully someday there will be a bigger science-related set for Olivia, but until then I will mix this set with my Invention Workshop to make a complete laboratory and science center! If you or your little girl is into science, stargazing, or are just collecting all of Olivia’s sets (like myself) then this set is a must… if for anything, just for little Zobo and his cup of hot chocolate!
