"This set is super, mainly because of all of the accessories (especially the lightning). Since I make LEGO stop-motion videos, that was a definite plus! Also, the expression on the knight's face went well with the face of the boy in the "Winter Toy Shop" set. Having both of those, I am able to easily able to change the expression on the person's face. Another fantastic job, LEGO!"
"This is a great set which I bought mainly for the amount of bricks that come in it, but when I started to open the bags of pieces, I noticed that there were many other pieces that I could use for other models.
"I bought this set at Wal-Mart for thirty dollars on a trip. I put it together in about twenty minutes. I was very impressed with the great amount of embossed bricks. I also liked the storage hatch on the side of the thieves' hide-out. One of the only complaints is that I wish there would have been at least one more function, but that is a very small complaint. I love the color of the crate. I think, but am not sure, that this is one of the only sets which has it in. There are two dogs included. The minifigures are cool, not pixelated, really, but I wish that there had been a different hair style for the thief with black hair. Maybe they could also have included weapons such as a gun and a knife. I also can't understand why there was a pearl gold faucet. Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to include a gold bar or ring? After all, I wouldn't think that robbers on the run would care about cleaning up, would they?
All of the complaints that I had were very minor things, however. Please do not let this keep you from purchasing this neat little set.
"I have used the 5 baseplates that I own about 50 to 100 times, literally. They are so useful to build mosaics (which I build often). I have built mosaics for Sherlock Holmes, Culver's restaurant, Pepsi, Costco, RDO Truck Centers, and many others. They are also useful for building sculptures on.
I have built a giant 1 ft. tall x 2 ft. wide Wells Fargo Stagecoach, a 1 and a half Winnie the Pooh and a large chef. The baseplates were very useful for these purposes. Most of my sculptures are made up of 2,000 to 6,000 bricks, so they are very heavy. These keep my things together. Thank you for making these, LEGO!"
"I actually borrowed this book from the library, and enjoyed it immensely. There was great quality printing in the book. Awesome job once again, LEGO!"
"I bought the Pharoah, the King, the Hot Dog, and the Sheriff. I really enjoy making stop-motion LEGO videos with my sister, and that is the main reason I bought them. I had bought a few from the LEGO Movie minifigure series, and liked them, so I bought some from this great series. I like the fact that none of the ones that I purchased were pixelated in the printing factor. The thing that I don't like about the King minifig is that his torso and leg printing look like they were the old-style, and maybe came from the old King Leo's Castle set (which I own as well). The hairpiece is awesome. I would have preferred if the hair and crown were separate pieces, but the glorious beard makes up for it. :-) The sheriff is my favorite. The "WANTED" poster is cool and very detailed. It would go very well in the set "Colby City Showdown" from the Lone Ranger series. I loved the moustache. It was the same kind as the one in the set "Getaway Glider" from the LEGO Movie series. Absolutely awesome minifigs. I have to go now, so goodbye for now!
"The main thing that I enjoyed about this set was the flip-up fire function. I also love the marbled effect in the flames. Very cool. I also liked the fire truck and the look of the run-down building. The building had tan 1x6s with stickers to apply. There were not many stickers in this one. The minifigures were printed very well. They were not pixelated at all, as are some.
"I bought this for my little brother who is starting to get into LEGOs. He is about five years old. He will love it once he opens it, I am sure. I also bought Invizable Gold Getaway for myself and enjoy that too.
"This is a dream set for any builder, either novice or expert. There is an interesting story behind how I received this set. Here's how it happened:
I had just gotten braces on my teeth, and after a few visits I decided to build a giant LEGO tooth for my orthodontist, Dr. Michael Keim. So I built it and brought it into the orthodontic office. They wanted to keep it there for a few weeks, and so I allowed that. The day after my appointment, I received a call from the office, wondering if they could buy the tooth, as there had been so much interest in it. I decided to donate it. At my next appointment, they told me that my orthodontist had ordered this very set for me. I was thrilled.
About a week later I finally received it. I of course opened it immediately. The book was amazing. It has full color pages, and different designs which you can build and learn from. The set has a perfect balance of slopes to arches and bricks. I was very impressed with the value of the set."
