Massive Set - Probably Largest Technic set made.
" Pretty sure this is the largest technic set made by Lego to date. Purchased this set for myself and had a blast building it. What is powered versus is what is not, starting from Base up.
Base moves forward and backward (Powered)
Base Pivots left and right (Powered)
Bottom Conveyor belt (Belt Powered - Swing is manually adjustable with knob)
Top Digging Arm (Up and Down - Manually Adjustable with Knob)
Top Digging Arm Conveyor and Bucket wheel (Powered)
Top Digging Arm has Drive and Rotate controls on top armature.top Vertical tower has knob for adjusting Digging arm height (up and Down)
Base has knob for adjust bottom conveyor belt swing from left to right along with a locking switch.
Base also has a little tiny knob for deploying the side raid ladder (Detail is amazing).
Overall dimensions from what i can see is 11 inches deep, 16 inches tall, and 28 inches wide. Weight is around 7.6 pounds for the digger itself.
Set is a massive slow mover which is spot on with the actual digger in real life - Wanted to point this out so you are not alarmed once you put this set together and see how slow it moves, that is by design.
The extra large motor is a neccesity for such a beastly set as this one.
Inside the Giant Box - there are bags label from 1-8
Bags 1-3 are located in the White box within the packaging
Bags 4-8 are loose in the big box
There is a complete bag #4 of grey lego pieces that are used just for the playability and is supposed to simulate debris and conveyor belt debris/material for digging (Which is an awesome touch by lego I might add - Thanks Lego)
The most intense part of the build is bag 6 (where you build the big bucket arm)
I have added a 12 oz soda can to the pictures so you can get a better judgement of the scale of this set. The Mini dump truck is the same size as the mining truck from set 42035 if you are wondering. I would recommend getting the truck from that set too as it goes very well with this set.
I was asked by a friend can you carry it by the tower top (as a handle) - Yes, you can although I feel uneasy doing it, it does seem to be very sturdy when I do carry it like that.
Overall a very fun build and just massive and i do mean MASSIVE - Well Done Lego! "

Best Build to Date
" Was purchased on release day. (My Boys and Wife got me this as a Gift for my birthday lol)
It has got to be one of the best builds yet by Lego. I like the shifting mechanism and how Lego did that; Very cool concepts and design!
When opening the box you first see a very well laid out and well presented set. When you look at the over all bags (11 bag "1" for instance lol) it can seem intimidating and may deter some from building it right away. However, rest assure it is a great and fun build to complete.
What got me right off the bat was the Size! Its just a little bit bigger than the 24 hour racer (But the two side by side look awesome!)
Aside from the scale, the detail is simply amazing.
The design even more so.
Set has Opening Doors, Trunk (Engine View), Frunk (Front Trunk), Suspension, Working Transmission lever (Drive neutral Reverse), Turning steering wheel that actually turns tires, and then there is the last option that is just super cool! the paddle shifters that change the gears... I would have to say out of my 35+ years as a lego Fan that this is one of the most enjoyable Technic builds I have ever experienced.
Bravo Lego and Well Done! "

Feels about 90% complete
" I see a few others have posted that it isn't quite right and I can understand that and would have to agree. All in all the model is great and the size of the model was larger than expected. The Kids absolutely love it.
Where I think the ideas stopped were on the Back flaps, Rudders, and Overhead Blades. When building the tail section I was like "Sweet! this is cool" and then to see they were not connected to anything to control them was a little bit of a let down (Not a huge one. lol but would have liked to see that Idea completed or ended better).
We literally have a few hundred 300+ lego sets in the house. that belong to either the Kids, my wife or myself.. Every set is cool in some way. This set is just neat due to the size and power options.
I think a lighting kit would be cool for the two lights on the under side. Also if they would have made this a remote and had more than one powering motor. (Thought for this would be to allow the blades to spin without having to share the same gear system for the other power options. Basically 1 motor for Blades, and the other for the power options.)
Maybe then the tail control could have been integrated somehow with a servo. This would have definitely drove the price a little higher I imagine and perhaps may have even upped the build difficulty tremendously, But it would have been very cool as all heck too. The landing gear i was not too upset with as it gives the illusion of the load lifted when the helicopter is a taking off.
Over all can't complain i do love it and it was actually purchased for me. I would recommend the product for any hardcore lego nut like me (or my other family members) and can't wait to see where they go with these ideas and what they come up with next. "
