"I was surprised when this set was announced as I was hoping for a Boba Fett helmet or a Stormtrooper mask maybe. Even Wicket the Ewok? But instead we got this cute little guy.
I was pleasantly surprised as I was on the fence with this set but in hindsight I'd say it's a great addition to any Star Wars fans collection.
I'd say £40-45 is a more reasonable price tag for this set but it was fun to build and looks really cool in my opinion. There is also a mechanism which opens the mouth and flaps the wing. This is a funny little feature but not that useful when you display the model.
I'd still recommend it if you've build BB-8 or R2-D2 buildables as the technique is similar just on a smaller scale.
It's worth buying in a sale or using your VIP points on it (like I did) and I dont think you'll be disappointed."
"When I heard Lego were remaking this set I got very excited. I was too young when the original Y-Wing UCS was released. One of the first sets I built was a £30 Y-Wing set. I loved all the little details on the ship and it's so iconic. Over 10 years later I get to build this masterpiece!
The only other set I can compare it to is the UCS Millenium Falcon. Its just as fun to build, extremely detailed with so many small intricate details and is a beauty to behold. The only difference was the Y-Wing took a few hours as opposed to a few days to build!
There are only 13 numbered bags but everyone has at least one or two smaller bags filled with the tiny parts. (Lego fans know what I mean) but it was never boring or tedious to build.
I gave the play rating a 3 because it's quite heavy even though it is swooshable. Best on a display shelf in my opinion.
It's one of my favourite Lego Star Wars UCS sets and goes nicely with the B-Wing and X-Wing. Do yourself a favour and pick this up. Worth the price tag!
Thank you Lego for making another childhood dream come true!"
"This certainly is a must have for any Lego Star Wars collector! It looks absolutely fantastic as a display piece and the level of detail is stunning. It took the best part of a day (on and off) to build, with some tricky pieces to clip together. I think this was because half way through after the base of the snowspeeder is built, you made the display stand and place it on there. Problem is without it, it won't sit exactly flat on the table even with the landing pad, and on the stand it's extended in the air so naturally is harder to put pressure on the bricks. Still an awesome set with great minifigures too! Well worth the price tag!"
