Very,... very nice !
" Love this model. The build is great and the car is fun to see come together. Very clever how they did the rear axle on the car, since the Turbo get a two stud wider axle than the Targa model.
They say it's two models; but if you want you can make it of course four different models; nothing stops you from assembling a Turbo with a Targa roof...
The only gripe I had has nothing to do with the car or the build;... but the box it came in was a glued one, instead of using the flaps with the "sticker strip" closing. These are hard to open, and could damage the box very badly. Lego, on a set like this, for the 18+ crowd, I would like you to use the other boxes, please ?
Can't wait for the next one, it will be nice to see ! "

Perfect fit to the Volvo Loader !...
" I'm an older collector who's been building Lego's since I was 7 years old. Many years ago when Lego started with the Technic line; they came out with a small yellow fork-truck, and after a lot of asking my parents gave me the set for my birthday. I think this was in the early 80"s that that set came out.
A few followed because they were not cheap and I didn't have the money. But after I graduated from school, started working, and made some extra money I had all the funds I wanted to make up for it. Lots of Technic sets later, Supercars, Cranes, Excavators, Bulldozers, and F1 racers;... I thinned out the collection a bit because my wife couldn't stand Lego sets in various building states throughout the house. I have my own room now just for that, and display models there mostly. But after thinning out all the sets, I kept some of the Technic sets that started my love for Lego. I kept the 10-wheeled crane with PF, have the Volvo Loader (remote control with PF) and now I bought this one to match the Loader.
This set is awesome. I'm quite good at building these sets, been doing so for many decades now, but this one is a challenge alright. After building all the rear wheel drives and differentials, and it's hooked to motors, there is no way anymore to "test" drive what you build;... Is it too tight ?, does it all turn ?,... etc.
I got really "scared" after bag three was done and the front wheel section was installed;... if you pick up the truck and rotate the wheels, it looks like the front two rotate opposite from the rear four. I got anxious but continued. After the build was done, and I turned it on for the first time, I expected the truck to give me an "error" or something because I thought the rotation would lock up the drive line.
It didn't !, and it works great. There is a small flaw in the instruction where a step shows something that isn't getting added until a few steps later. But overall the gears are amazing to work with and put together, and it's very mesmerizing to watch it all come to life.
I didn't give it five stars in the two sections for a reason. The truck is great, but the connection between the front and the back could be sturdier, so I docked a star for Value. And in the Play section I docked a star because I think it's high time for Lego to come up with a power source for these sets that will last longer than the 6 AA batteries give you. Especially for highly geared sets like these, that are big and heavy as well, there need to be more power for a longer period ?...
Please LEGO; give us another rechargeable battery box of some sort;... or better yet, make this hub a rechargeable one instead for big sets like these !
But for those tiny complaints I would give this set a five star rating overall for sure, and definitely would recommend getting this !!!
Thank you Lego, I can't wait for the next big one like this !.. "

So Happy I Went For This One !...
" I like pirates, and grew up with the original Pirate theme when I was young. Grew up in Europe with a hardworking dad who could not afford buying expensive Lego sets for his youngest son; and I'm now totally fine with that.
I make a good living and made up for what my dad could never afford to do for me;... I buy lots of Lego sets and mostly bigger ones (The Colosseum is being "eyed" as well...).
I loved it when Lego started doing the Pirates of the Caribbean sets, and bought all the three ships of the series. Knowing this set goes back to how it all started; I was very interested, but thought the price a little high, and the images made it look "messy"...
Take it from me; if you like Pirates, can afford to do so, and love to get big smiles while you're building, THIS SET IS IT FOR YOU !
The island setting is awesome, gets bigger while you build and you will be in awe. Nice to see the original "crew" back to life,... with some "age adjustments". There is a fair amount of animals hiding in it, and of course there is Pirate Booty on the island as well;... but I won't tell you where.
The woodwork is cleverly done and the ship is gorgeous. There is lots to discover and I see new things all the time.
Thank you, my Spanish Friend, for bringing this to life in the Ideas community, and bringing "original" Pirates back on the shelves in the store !!!

Very much overdue !!!
" I grew up in the eighties with old themes like pirates and castle. I always loved the Medieval Market Village set, but never thought the houses were big enough, nor complete enough.
Growing up in Northern Europe, these kind of houses are everywhere in the old cities and villages. I'm forever great full to the young German man who thought this up and made it come to reality. It is built in record time, for this old man, and sits now proudly on it's shelf. Makes me have a huge smile on my face to see it there;... it ticks all the boxes for me: Gorgeous building with clever building techniques, throwback to the Castle theme which was VERY MUCH OVERDUE !, huge memories for me who lived in houses like that in Europe growing up.
Even better that it includes a (Red !) light brick for the forge part; and it works beautifully...
I'm so happy with this set that I decided to write this review; I'm older now, build still lots of Lego's in my free time and am a huge collector;... but this set is now one of the most prized possessions in my collection. So I decided to write this up.
Great overall set, definitely a must buy for Lego Castle fans, older Europeans like me, and people who loved detailed buildings like the Modular Series...
Maybe not the cheapest set to get; but it is "Oh, so worth it" to get this one when you can...

Definitely Worth Buying !
" I don’t write reviews about sets a lot. It might have to do that I buy a lot of them and don’t have too much time to write about them; maybe that will change after retirement ?...
But I read a lot of negativity about this set; and it might be true for those owners, but my experience is totally different from that one.
I got lucky and got an order in at opening night; I still didn’t get the set until a few days ago. LEGO has a lot of problems right now with closed parts factories, travel and shipping restrictions, and because of COVID, a lot of people are home and are picking up on LEGO’s... which makes sets run out sooner than normal.
The box came to me in excellent shape; this has been very different in the past, where a lot of my shipments got damaged beyond belief, and I always went back to a LEGO store after to get it replaced. I think LEGO listened to that and learned; they changed shipping company.
Very nice unpacking sequence with the box looking like it dies in the outside, and then the six boxes inside that look like the engine cover. Books perfectly packed in the bottom and safe there against damage.
One thing I did notice right away after building the first part of this set is that there are extra pieces included with this set; but they are definitely less than what I normally see as included extras
My instruction booklets are perfect. No mistakes in the instructions and the rigidity of the books is great as well. No pealing from the spine whatsoever...
I did have a little bit of color difference in parts. The smaller pins, etc in lime green have more of a yellowish teint to them. They look great by themselves, but when put together with the beans and panels and flex hoses, you can see the difference. Not major but noticeable for sure. It goes from pins, to beams and panels to flex hoses; with the last one having the most green color.
I did NOT have any missing parts at all; but again, there are not a lot of extra parts in this set, including pins and small tiles. It was noticeable to me; so be very careful you get all the parts out of all the plastic baggies.
Overall I really like the finished product. It looks great, feels more complete and finished that the other two. Can’t wait for the next one in two years.
Oh, and a final tip: This color lime green looks much better underneath white LED light then under the normal incandescent light bulb light. The yellow light makes color difference stand out way more. If you get, or have, “daylight” LED lighting in your house you’ll see that the color is much better, and better matching as well.
Well done LEGO, a pity for the amount of sets on hand, but a winner in my book !!! "
