" This was my third Lego set (also my third from the Architecture line) and the most challenging of those I've built so far--also certainly the most interesting!
Each stage of building was an adventure; aside from the base, I could never quite tell what I was working on till the end of a section. There's a large variety of pieces used for this one, many of which I'd never seen used--this was my first experience with the click-in ones, for example.
It was always nicely revelatory to see how things came together (like realizing where the rubbery bits went); each stage was paced in a way where you could easily take breaks between sections, if you like. Occasionally I had some trouble clicking everything into place, but the model ended up feeling reliably sturdy--even with the built-in ability to shift and wiggle!
It looks wonderful on the shelf! I initially thought the matte-looking grey might not display well, but it ends up looking very presentable. "

" This was my second Lego set ever, and also my second from the Architecture line (first being Big Ben).
While not as detailed as the full-landmark ones, the details included are still entirely fun to build through--I especially enjoyed the way the water was done, and the final few bricks on the Bridge of Sighs to complete it were very satisfying. Seeing how the buildings were miniaturized as you build through was also amusing--I found myself exclaiming "how cute!" over a lot of the smaller details.
The variety of architectural objects chosen for representation in this one is what drew me to it most of all--bridges, a church, a tower, statues. The differences in width and height with a limited color palette makes this one the most aesthetic, in my eyes.
It's just the right size to place along the edge of a bookshelf--not too high to block titles, with skyline-thin width--and it adds just the right amount of visual cool to the shelves. "

" I was never given Legos when I was a kid, so, in adulthood, this ended up being my first Lego set!
It was a wonderful experience--the perfect amount of bricks and time sink for someone new to building. Though the bricks involved are mainly very small (and eager to get lost), it didn't feel like too overwhelming a challenge. The instructional booklet is thick with information and illustration related to Big Ben, and the box itself is well-designed and sturdy. Well worth buying for both display and as a collector's item.
It certainly makes a cute and stylish addition to my bookshelf, and acts the perfect gateway into the rest of the architecture series! "
