Falls a Little Short...
" Although not a fan of The Simpsons these mini-figures were enjoyable to collect, though it was rather frustrating that six of the characters were essentially repeats: Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Maggie, with Milhouse in his 'Fallout Boy' costume. If you are a Simpsons fan, then I would recommend this series, but if you prefer the classic mini-figures (and if you are one of those frustrated people who could not find a Mr. Gold in Series 10), then you might or might not grab these ones. Then again, you might get the set just for the sake of completeness.
The best characters in this series are probably Smithers, who can complement Mr. Burns from Series 1, and, although another version, Bartman. His new molded sling-shot and rare purple cape are the most exciting accessories, especially if your'e looking for MOC potential. The main annoyance is that Maggie is really the same, just with the face that appears in 71006 The Simpsons House. Your'e really paying for Santa's Little Helper, who otherwise could not have been included. Although colourful and interesting to display, LEGO Mini-Figures: The Simpsons Series 2.0, is something more for a Simpsons fan than a traditional LEGO Mini-figures enthusiast.

Lacking Some Originality.
" I actually purchased this series back in October 2012, but didn't think of reviewing them until now. This was an okay collection, but not fantastic. It retread upon figures such as the Life Guard and Punk Rocker, which were in Series 2 and 4 respectively.
The Genie Girl and Buccaneer were also a female redo of the genie in Series 6 and, essentially, the musketeer in Series 4. For the most part, except for, possibly, the Rock Star, these figures weren't as good as in their former series and made this collection less exciting. It would have been good to see a Chef, Ballerina or Duchess (like Marie Antoinette) which certainly have not been done yet.
Some of the best in this series were the Wizard - this probably being the best and something that should have done back around Series 1 - 3 - and the Battle Goddess, even though she was rather similar to the Princess Warrior in Series 10. It was also good to see a princess at last, though a cloth dress might have been better. Lastly, the Hun Warrior was a welcome addition as it added a diverse flair and came with great printing on the legs and torso (even if the horned helmet took a smidgen of creative licence).
Overall, LEGO Minifigures Series 12 was good but not as original as would have been good to see. It is worth purchasing if you have collected the other series so far, though it may feel less so with the lack of Series 10's Mr Gold. In a further series it would be good to see a Ballerina and a Chef, especially as the former has never been made into a minifigure. In general, any LEGO fan would enjoy this series.

A Worthwhile Purchase For All!
" I was a bit worried when I first heard about these new The Simpsons minifigures, as I am not a Simpsons fan. But these turned out to be really good collector's pieces and they appear great on display. Any LEGO fan, whether or not you like The Simpsons, would be pleased with these. They are very different from the previous collectible series 1 - 11. It looks like from now on there will be theme-based series, and this looks a good place to start.
1. Homer Simpson: He is a simple but good edition, especially as he doesn't look sleep deprived as in The Simpsons House. The donut and TV remote are great accessories. This being Homer's classic costume, it is a must for Simpson's fans.
2. Bart Simpson: Hardly any differnt from The Simpsons House other than his eyes are wide-open, as with Homer. The skateboard is a cool colour and he has a printed sling-shot on the back of his torso and pants. The printing on his legs and arms is a real plus.
3. Marge Simpson: This too is a must for Simpsons fans, with what must be the tallest ever minifigure wig! The handbag accessory is a little dull but her cloth dress piece is a good feature. The tile she comes with should really be a Homer accessory.
4. Lisa Simpson: Her red cloth dress is rather hard to apply, but once on is a nice feature, especially on a short-legged minifigure. The saxophone is all chrome-gold and is a rare bonus. Overall, a very pleasing addition.
5. Maggie Simpson: I wasn't expecting her body to be all one piece! She is narrower than other minifigures and very plain, with a strange worried expression. Her Teddy Bear has some intricate printing.
6. Grandpa Abe Simpson: Plain, but is head is moulded with lots of wrinkled detail. The tile saying 'Old Man Yells at Cloud' is an amusing touch. A must-have for Simpsons fans looking to complete their collection of characters.
7. Ned Flanders: A printed toolbox is a unique and clever addition. He has a very big head, about as tall as is his torso! The printed mug is clever too. His eyes bulge out behind the glasses.
8. Krusty the Clown: This guy looks like a lunatic, but he is very cool with a massive stick-out wig and moulded clown's nose. The cream-coloured pie is a real bonus. Probably the most cartoonish of the lot and a unique must-have.
9. Milhouse Van Houten: The printing on his legs and arms is good, as we have never had short-legged characters with leg printing until now. His tile accessory with 'Biclops' is a bit boring. The massive nose on his moulded head is very stand-out.
10. Ralph Wiggum: The head looks quite strange on this minifigure; very flat and you can hardly see his mouth. His torso is simple and the tile accessory a bit dull. This is probably the plainest of the series.
11. Apu: This is a great minifigure, with a giant headpiece and the coffee cup from The Lego Movie series printed with 'slushee' on it. Every detail on his face is clearly visible. His hair is a funny gray.
12. Nelson Muntz: The minifigure has a cool moulded head with teeth detail and intricate hair. His torso is quite plain. The baseball bat is a great accessory and looks a little menacing with this character. The head is the winning feature.
13. Itchy Mouse: His nose is enormous and oddly thin and wide. His big ears make Itchy stand right our. He has satisfying torso printing and that cool club we all know from Series 1 and so on. A bit out of place, he might have been better replaced by Smithers as one idea.
14. Scratchy Cat: The first time I have ever seen a tail on a minifigure! His head is bulbous and very detailed. His torso is plain and looks kind of weird. Worth buying for the tail alone, which joins at the hips. Maybe he could have been replaced by Professor Frink.
15. Chief Wiggum: A good moulded head piece, with lots of detail, including his ears, nose, eyes and hair - as well as thsoe on his cap. A printed megaphone is new and cool, as well as a truncheon printed gray. A must-have companion for the Ralph Wiggum minifigure.
16. Montgomery Burns: This guy looks really mean, or grouchy, with a giant head piece and a neck that cranes forward a lot. You have to lean him back so he'll look straight! A nice printed minifigure head with a three-eyed goldfish and a rare torso in dark to lime green. A must-have edition and probably my personal favourite!
Overall, this was a new and exciting series of minifigures. You will want some method to disply your new purchases. The build time was how long it took to piece them all together when I got them home and opened the packages. These will probably please any LEGO fan or not, even if you are not a fan of The Simpsons television series.
Tip: These minifigures are quite hard to feel for sometimes, especially with Milhouse and Ralph.

Not Quite the Star of the Show....
" In general, this was a good set to build and very detailed on the exterior. It would be a purchase to think about for any Star Wars fan and older Lego builders. This would not be for younger children, as it contains certain elements which were flimsy to put together or difficult to clip into place. It also has many tiny elements which could be knocked off when working on other parts. Impressive when completed, not to mention grand in size and scale, this is not your average Lego Star Wars set, but doesn't quite reach the mark of other sets produced like it.
The standout greats about set 10221 are as follows:
1-It is very detailed, using studs, plates, bricks and clips - besides many others - to create intricate movie-like features. This adds ti its impressive grandeur when complete and displayed.
2-The size is nice, as it stands out from any other set produced. At one 124.4 cm long, it is not likely that another set like it will be produced, not to this scale. This is also realistic to the films when displayed alongside previous Star Destroyer sets, as it should be imposing.
3-The build is generally well executed, with components of the ship built in sections, sometimes added in at later points. There are seven sets of bags which break it up into workable chunks. The stands are built separately, which is useful for standing the model on or adding on at the finish.
4-The mini-figures are a nice addition, as well as the outfitted bridge and detail. You get three unique mini-figures (Admiral Piett, Dengar and IG-88's printed head) which is a welcome feature in a set otherwise devoted to display. The mini Star Destroyer adds to the play and display effect.
Some issues with the set are as follows:
1-While being great as a display piece, the enormous size impairs the ability to move the set without breaking our dislodging an element.
2-The set has many noticeable gaps in the hull, such as at the front of the dagger shape and in the corners of the extension at the rear. From certain angles you can see the framework inside. At some areas you can see brightly coloured red or sand pieces sticking through.
3-The bottom of the ship is flat, which doesn't detract, but lacks some faith to the films. As with previous Star Destroyer sets it would have been great to have slanted boards on the bottom or at the edges.
4-The stands upon which the set stand are rather spindly and can wobble somewhat when prodded or knocked by accident. This can be troublesome depending on what level the set is displayed. Sometimes, tiny elements on top might loosen and fall off the ship.
Overall, this was a satisfying purchase, worthy of any older or advanced Star Wars and Lego fan. The end result is worth the money. However, the difficulty in playing with it, and some evident structural and aesthetic flaws, compromise the overall satisfaction. It falls just short of other Star Wars collector's sets. A buy worth making, just not the top of the pyramid.

Orthanc Stands Tall!
" This set is an absolute must-buy for any Lord of the Rings fan and then even more so for a Lego fan. This is the complete package for older builders who are both Lord of the Rings and Lego fans but want great playability and value. For the amount of elements in the box it is very good value and rather cheap for a licensed set. This could be a great gift or good for the family to build together as it uses multiple numbered bags. It is not very challenging or difficult to put together but presents an enjoyable few afternoons of Lego building.
Notable greats are as follows:
1-Playability: This is number one as Lego has managed to create a larger exclusive set but has retained the excellent display and play value inherent with the licences and this kind of building. There are lots of clever little details and features to be had from the films and with a little Lego touch.
2-The Build: While really quite easy and sometimes simple it is very satisfying to split up the sections and build the structure over a few afternoons. The set can be put away and taken out again for broken up building as there are fifteen different sets of bags.
3-Detailing: The exterior has some great finishing touches and added details to avoid too much simplicity when it is all black. Some parts are broken up with dark grey elements while angled plates and spikes create additional finishing. Arch elements in conjunction with bar pieces are used to great effect – the fourth floor.
4-Final Scale: The finished structure is quite tremendous and stands at a decent while impressive height. It will go a decent way up any desk or side table and makes an impression as a display piece. The finished structure looks a bit bigger than seventy-three centimetres!
Some small faults are as follows:
1-Numbered Bags: While terrific for easing the timing and pace of the build it can be irritating to have as much as fifteen bags. For older fans and advanced builders this could imply it as being too simplistic or for younger builders. Some chunks of the build are a little smaller than needs to be.
2-Stickers: The number one bane to any Lego fan is likely the increasingly large number of sets with stickers. This set contains multiple stickered details, which can be frustrating. There are probably about fifteen individual decals here – maybe a little more or less.
3-Interiors: These are mostly pleasing but in some places there is too much space and in smaller areas there is a bit much detail crammed in. The throne room and prison dungeon are the best examples as both are spacious but are not entirely filled out. The dungeon is mostly stickered detail on the rear wall.
4-The Ent or Treebeard: The included ent, who may be Treebeard, has lots of flexible positions and poses but lacks some detail and seems somewhat too simplistic. The back is mostly where this is seen because the dial for operating his swinging arm sticks out and blocks the use of extra leaves or sloping bricks.
Overall this is a very pleasing set and of excellent value for its piece to price ratio, while providing an entertaining build for just about any ages. The large portion of black elements can make the set seem a little dull to assemble but is counteracted by the little details and interiors. If you are a real Lego or Lord of the Rings fan then this stands out as your ideal set to purchase.

Going Back to the Future...!
" This was a really exciting purchase. It is the first Cuusoo product I have bought and I was eager to see what the Lego designers had mixed up. For Lego and Back To The Future fans it does not disappoint! The set is detailed and fun to play with, while being faithful to the films, yet with a distinctive Lego flair. It also comes with a great array of pieces and makes for a really nice display piece - for the hovering version it has some clear bricks which make a good display stand. Best of all, if you get bored of the model you can just customise it with more pieces and make something else - the fun never ends!
The set had many great aspects, the main ones being listed here:
Versions: The set was a worthwhile purchase as it was not just a single model, but had the advantage of customizing it to look like any of the three films! This ensured that if you got bored of playing with one version you could just alter it. This was also great as once you finished the building manual, the construction was not yet finished!
Printing: This was a really great point for the model. It was absolutely sticker or decal free. The 1985 and 2015 number plates were both printed, along with the time display and flux capacitor. This meant no annoying peeling, dust on the surface or application mistakes. This should be done with more sets.
Mini-figures: As they are unique to the set, this was a great bonus. They both have intricate printing, and both are printed on the back and front of the torso! Both also had double-sided faces, one smiling and the other worried or scared. This adds great play valuable and they are a good souvenir for any fan of the films.
Packaging and Detailing: This was a nice little touch as the box is reinforced cardboard with an opening lid, meaning you can store the model in it after you finished building or playing. The manual also was printed and bound like a little book and had notes and pictures from the films. This was a very nice finishing touch!
The set had one or two gripes, which you can read below:
Stability: This was actually not a problem, but the model is designed in such a way that only the base-plates hold the front section on, meaning that extra strain is put on these pieces. This may slowly weaken said pieces over a long period of time.
Cabin Interior: The cabin lacked some of the controls, mainly the bank of levers, dials, wires and buttons in between the two seats that Doc uses to operate the time machine. This left an open space, the seats with a slightly odd design that meant only one mini-figure could fit inside it. The roof was two low to place jumper plates.
Overall Size: I appreciate that this would have been difficult to tackle, but the model was rather big - ten studs wide and eighteen long - and this meant it looked somewhat absurd when next to the characters. The proportions looked over-exaggerated compared to the films.
Finishing Touches: One or two more details would have complemented the set well, such as glass in the windows or actual seats for the mini-figures. Some colours of the bricks on the outside could have been changed to blend in to a better extent.
Overall this was a great set and a perfectly justifiable purchase. If you are curious about any of the Lego Cuusoo products or are just a big fan of the Back To The Future films then this is a set for you. It offers great display, play and collectable value, as well as providing a bit of nostalgia. It would also be a good gift. Another great Lego concoction!

Series Eleven is a Winner!
" This is really a great collection of minifigures, one of the best so far. It has some great new pieces, fun characters and colourful packaging. These minifigures really stand-out and are fun to play with. These characters are surely worth it for any minifigure collector or a casual Lego fan. They are also a great display piece, in a proper cabinet. You can find the good and bad points listed below, in order of their poster.
Barbarian: He is a fun and exciting character, great for adding to your collection of warrior minifigures. He has his two blades and Aragorn's hair piece in black. He has gauntlets printed on his wrists and strap and buckle on his back, but no muscle printing there. His detail makes him stand-out, especially his printed skin pants!
The annoyances here are that his back is not printed with any muscles and his accessories are rather plain. He also might do well with a second, calmer face - maybe celebrating a victory in battle.
Scarecrow: This is a great minifigure and his detail is splendid. His back is printed with a thatched jersey splitting with hay and his arms are also printed with texture and patches. He has a brand new patched hat and the crow can be detached from it. His rake finishes him nicely. His detail is really the highlight here.
No complaints are really with the Scarecrow, except that he might have had slightly more printing on his face or lower legs to show wear.
Pretzel Girl: She is very fun and happy, making a perfect match to the series eight Lederhosen Guy, with a distinctly European flare! She has a printed cloth apron and dress, with her hair ending in plaits. Her cute freckled face and printed skirt and apron, as well as her torso, are great highlights for her.
The dress can be hard to put around her legs and sticks out at one corner. Her hair could have used some printed bands or other detail. She has no back printing, which would finish her corset well.
Evil Mech: He is very detailed, with printing on his arms, legs and torso. His armour is easy to slip on and he has a nicely printed face. He has a great science-fiction feel and his blaster finishes him off nicely.
He is a bit much like the Battle Mech of series nine for my liking, and seems to be a repeat idea. His face might have been slightly more detailed.
Island Warrior: This is a true stand-out from the rest. He has some-what basic but good printing on his torso and legs, with blue warrior paint on his face and chest. He can wear his tiki mask, strapped to his neck, or just reveal his face with a black hair piece tied with bone. His tiki mask is clipped on at the base around the neck.
Could have used a slightly more exciting accessory or updated spear.
Gingerbread Man: He is very cute and fun, with his Dunk Me mug and intricate printing. Little grainy dots are printed on his torso, face, arms and legs to represent the gingerbread texture. His headpiece is split by a swirl of chocolate. The printing icing is very nice and delicious looking!
His accessory could have been a little better perhaps.
Holiday Elf: He is small and adorable, making a great companion for the series eight Santa. He has bright green and gold printing, with his Teddy Bear adorned in a little bow tie. His present brick, printed, looks very inviting. The Holiday Elf is a great festive figure and his new hat might be good on an AFOL Smurf creation - recoloured.
He would be well completed with some printing on his back, perhaps some gold curls and a finished belt strap.
Yeti: A very new and exciting concept and a must-buy for true collectors. He has great wooly fur printing which bulks him up and makes him look fierce but friendly. His brand new head mold is thick and shaggy and looks great!
His icy-pole is cute, but could have been a better accessory.
Mountain Climber: This minifigure is a little more plain without his accessories but is a great sports addition to the series. His new coil of rope is very useful and his climbing gear printing is a highlight. I especially like his determined smiling face.
He might have done well with a new pick accessorie or some back printing. His helmet could also have done with some added detail.
Welder: The Welder is a great new addition and comes with many new and exciting pieces. His overalls are well printed, with burn marks and stitches and tears, and his face is very appropriate with a determined and grease stained look. His gas bottle is printed and his welding equipment is small and intricate, making it look great.
He comes with no hair piece when he does not wear his welding mask and his back is not printed.
Scientist: Somewhat plain, but a nice everyday addition, the Scientist is well printed with the ponytail hair-piece in dark brown and two flurescent coloured beakers. Her face printing is nicely done and captures her excitement and curiosity.
She is a little plain and rather similar to the series four Crazy Scientist.
Saxophone Player: Keen-eyed fans might notice the similarity between this character and one of the Blues Brothers. He has intricate torso printing, with creases in dark grey, and an appropriate face with drak shades and sideburns. His saxophone is great and is moulded in a shiny gold plastic, not the matte colour it appears to be. Beware, this is a rare catch.
He is a little plain without his saxophone and seems to be quite rare.
Diner Waitress: She is really great and her printing, though not on her back, is detailed and extenive. Her pink roller skates are a bonus and she has a brand-new hair piece with a twist and ponytail at the back. She has a double-sided face - one disapproving and one happy - and a name tag reading 'Tara', referencing a certain Lego designer.
Her platter would have been nice with a hamburger or other fast-food. her back could have used some extra printed detail.
Grandma: Grandma is very nice and makes a good companion for Grandpa in series ten. Her kitten is new and is great fun to play with, making her an ideal addition. Her face printing is intricate, with multiple wrinkles, and her torso is printed with cat faces and a necklace. Her pastel colours are a favourite.
Her cardigan could be nicely finished with some back printing.
Constable: A very portly and serious minifigure, he has simple but pleasing printing. His helmet is a highlight and he has a great new truncheon piece. His mustache printed face, with a chin strap, is very nice and makes him more 'English'.
He lacks a little bit of printing anf and colour, most of hime being black. He is very common and may pop up a lot as a double.
Lady Robot: Bright and colourful printing with lots of pink make her fun. She is a great companion for the series six Clockwork Robot and also has printed lipstick and eyelashes on her boxy head. Her torso and legs are sufficiently different and detailed in printing.
She lacks any accessories.
Overall another great series and a good purchase for any current collector of minifigures or anybody casual or someone who is just starting out. Yet another great purchase from Lego!

A Festive Package Indeed!
" The Winter Village Cottage is a very nice and festive piece to build! It is very colourful and cheerful with lots of nice little details. It can act well as a stand-alone piece, due to its size and scale, as opposed to being just another ordinary addition to the Winter Village line of buildings. As always it has a light brick - fitted into the fireplace - which gives it some homely cheer and cute little details like stockings over the fireplace and a printed newspaper for grandpa. The set uses few stickers and they are easy to apply where they are needed. The larger quantity of minifigures also makes it a great model for play, display and as an appropriate Christams decoration. Lined up with the other sets it looks great on a coffee table or mantle piece.
Now for some of the best points with the model. Firstly it has a good array of pieces to add to your collection, with large amounts of rare Light Royal Blue bricks, little transparent studs and assorted accessories. Secondly it is a great stand-alone model as it has a good size and descent play spaces inside, which set it apart from the other Winter Village modulars. This is also really good as it gives a lot more scope for interior detailing as opposed to the previous three sets. Thirdly, the addition of many extra elements such as the snow plow, tool shed and toys with sled are good to make this set playable and versatile. These additions are also good to create a diorama display. Fourthly it has multiple minifigures which make for a nice little family to inhabit the cottage! This is a nice design touch.
Now for some of the gripes about the set. Firstly its style and overall difference in scale is really nice as a stand-alone model, but sets it apart from the other sets as such that it does not seem right when displayed by them. In comparison it looms over the smaller roofs of the other sets. This model has more merits as a stand-alone purchase. Secondly, the roof is really clever and intricate in design but it is not quite fixed down and will rock or flap if the model is slightly dislodged or bumped. It may sometimes fall off too. Thirdly, the upper storey bedroom is a little rudimentary as the floor is just bare dark-grey tiles without a carpet, unlike the bottom floor and rooms, which would seem appropriate to make it a comfortable space. Lastly the included igloo seems a little superfluous and crudely put together, with big blocky pieces, though this is not really a problem.
Overall it is a very nice and festive set and worth the money. It also is great as it doubles for a Christmas decoration and a construction toy. Its purpose is very versatile and this also means you can buy it without needing the other sets. The build is satisfying and not too difficult, which should make it ant ideal gift for any Lego collector or fan about ten years or more. If you like a bit of festive cheer and building fun, this is a great set for you!

On The Road Again...!
" The Volkswagen T1 Camper Van is a really nice set and very colourful. It is a fun and worthwhile purchase, while providing a good build that is interesting and not too easy or too difficult. It has many fun features such as opening doors and hatchs. It also has a nice array of pieces with the orange pop-up cloth roof piece and the six plaid textile curtains! The detailing is really nice and makes it a must for any auto or Volkswagen collector or enthusiast. The model is also faithful to the original vehicle and looks great on display!
The best points of the model are the unique elements, like the plaid curtains, and the many fun accessories such as the cup, t-shirt, pan and scrubbing brush. Other great features include the hatch which reveals the four-cylinder boxer engine and how all the doors open - even the back window flips up! The rods of the front create the iconic three-colour-split in a really nice way and the detailing in the cab is excellent, which includes an articulated stick shift, brake pedal, accelerator and handbrake. The round speedometre - a Lego clock tile - is also a nice touch. The pop-up roof and luggage rack are also great details to finish it and add extra realism to the final display piece.
Some gripes with this kit are that it is not a great play item, but is better used for display, making it a gift more suited to older collectors. The finished model also has many gaps and spaces in the floor and beneath the seats which make it look crude and unfinished in some ways. The orange pop-up roof is also difficult to assemble as you need to loop the orange cloth element around the bricks while applying pressure to keep it all together! Also, the interior lights on the wall and the curtains are not completely fixed and they flap around, making them wonky, which can be annoying as it compromises the finished look.
Overall, this is a very nice set and very colourful and fun to build. It is realistic to the original vehicle, while adding unique Lego features such as the folding seat-bed and cupboard with the t-shirt, and has pleasing details which make it look extra realistic. This is a must have for Volkswagen and any Lego enthusiast. This set well deserves its long lasting popularity among Lego fans. This would be a purchase worth spending your money on!

A Plane Winner!
" This set was a worthwhile and unique purchase! It is great to finally see this iconic era of aviation history re-released at last! It is also a marked improvement on the original 2001 model too, with an added 306 pieces to the count. The colour scheme used is really nice, giving added realism, and the functions are a highlight, making this set a unique must-buy. This is also a fantastic gift or purchase for any aviation enthusiast, as the model greatly captures the feel of the original plane, especially with the great array of pieces and realistic moving parts and functions-the strings for tension wires are a particular stand-out.
Now for the really good aspects of this set. Firstly, the general concept of the set makes it a worthwhile purchase as Lego rarely treats its fans to a model of this style or from this era of history. This also means that is an essential collectable for any model plane collection, whether you are a Lego fan or not. Secondly, the functions are a proper highlight as they make the whole model playable and fun, not just an inanimate object to display and admire. Assembling the tension wire mechanisms also makes for an interesting and more complicated build, for expert builders considering the smaller piece count. Thirdly, the array of pieces used in assembling the model is a bonus as you rarely get large elements in dark green or sand-yellow in reasonable amounts. The difference in colours is also a bonus if you plane to use the pieces to make M.O.Cs. The platinum-silver pieces around the engine are also a unique and realistic touch. Finally, the finished model is great as it works not only as a display piece, but as a good toy to play with, making it a nice model for slightly younger collectors, with a higher rate of difficulty. The model is also sturdy and, despite some of its appearances, does not fall apart easily if handled in a proper fashion.
Now for some of the poor sides in the model. Firstly, although a great feature, the string tension-wire system, which operates the wing and tail fins, doesn't seem to work entirely correctly and the flaps largely jerk and flip in a rather rudimentary fashion, contrary to what the finished kit promises. Secondly, the mechanism within the fuselage, designed to operate the tail fin flaps, is not really held down properly or secured, making it move back-and-forth rather wildy, not allowing a fluid movement. The device largely operates with a rubber band, which is likely to be why it is not so efficient. Thirdly, although a small gripe, the stickers in the set (there are eight of them) are passable, but it would have been a good chance to provide some valuable and unique printed elements. The hardest decals to apply are the symbols on the plane's wings, meaning it is disorientating to place a round decal onto a square plate. Finally, the lack of a display stand is perfectly acceptable, but would have been a nice touch to display the model on, with a plaque that could have had a decal printed with specifications.
Overall, this is a really nice set, with minor flaws, and makes a versatile purchase in that it can be sufficiently displayed as well as used in a play environment. The fact that it is a 'war' model makes it that much more collectable as only the previous version and the 2002 Red Baron's Triplane are fellow sets in the theme. This is also an obvious must-buy for aviation enthusiats and Lego fans looking for a valuable, enjoyable and reasoanbly difficult build with a smaller amount of pieces at a good price. By purchasing this set, you can guarntee yourself some high-flying fun and building!
