Great Play at a Steep Price
" This set is a minor upgrade of the previous Death Star, with one of the biggest updates being in the form of updated minifigures. The set itself has incredible play value!
Display value is okay, but since the original set's release many years ago, lots of new parts and building techniques have been implemented, and things like the stair-stepping could have been minimized. Being able to remove modules would have helped with play a bit, too.
The major issue with this set is the price point. With fewer parts than the recently released Disney Castle, this set costs $200 CAD more. I'm aware that themes, other sets, and piece counts are not directly comparable, but this price point is still significantly higher than it seems like it should be.
Over the previous iteration of this set, factoring inflation and the new updates, this price point still doesn't seem to stick.
This set comes with a lot of minifigures, most of which are not exclusive to this set (or won't remain so). The parts aren't all that unique... lots of common grey and black. Nothing wrong with that, but again takes away from the justification of the price-point.
It's a wonderful set. It's just seems overpriced.
Side note: personally, I'd prefer if the UCS label was used for models that have more display value than visible play value. It seems like there's been a shift to brand all of the higher priced sets as UCS this year, and I wish there could be a shift back. Just one ultimate collector's opinion!
If you have the money, by all means, buy this set! "

A little pricey, but good fun!
" I'm really not sure how the price of this set can be justified. It's made up of a number of small, fairly common parts. Most of the decorations come from stickers. It's not based on an IP or license, which can sometimes explain higher price tags.
The set looks great, and having full instructions for an alternate build is a welcome addition! The set just seems like it should have been about 20% cheaper, especially if you compare this to the value and part counts of other sets being released. "

Everything Is Not Awesome
" There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said. It's just one of the most disappointing LEGO sets I've seen, and the resounding negativity is remarkably justifiable.
The set is a mishmash. It's an okay playset—if you have some Imperial forces, as there are very few included here.
This set lacks the polish, screen-accuracy, and displayability you'd expect from a UCS set. The selection of minifigures are a little underwhelming.
The biggest cons, in my opinion:
- Lack of a fourth section to the Shield Generator.
- Overly-visible play features (ION Cannon and the P-Tower shooters)
- Toryn Farr looks nothing like her screen counterpart.
- The two named pilots share the same face.
Personally, I don't mind builds with incomplete backs (like the ION cannon).
Further disappointment comes from the fact that Hoth has been completely over-represented in LEGO form, while Cloud City never gets a chance to shine. We've seen most of these fragments in other sets previously, so as a long time builder, there is little new here.
It's an underwhelming playset for the price, and it is not deserving of the UCS emblem.
Expensive playsets are great—LEGO is a toy after all! Just please hear us, and target future UCS sets at ultimate collectors like you have in the past! "

Incredibly Highly Recommended!
" This is the penultimate LEGO playset!
The set is a perfect mashup of the two films! Characters are all based on the first film.
In the first film, the text sign was taken down, the building was painted black, and the blue studs with stars matched the color of the building. The gold accent above the door was painted black. Also, there are two red lights on the front that weren't in the first film. So, the set exterior matches the look of the firehouse from the second film more than the first, with the exception of the logo, which is thankfully from the first film. To be honest, the building would have looked a little more boring if it more closely matched the first film, so I'm totally satisfied with the way it turned out.
The main floor layout is perfect. There are missing elements that were omitted because there just wasn't enough space for the extra walls and filing cabinets. There is no basement, so the containment unit is under the stairs, which was a great compromise!
The layout of the upper floors, besides the bedroom, don't really match from the film to the set, but I'm totally okay with that. I don't believe we ever see much of a kitchen, nor the bathroom, but they look great and really give life to this set! The darkroom and wall behind the billiards table are perfect!
Most of the mini-builds (tables, beds, arcade machine) are all very easily removable and are only held on by few studs to increase play value. The entire building folds open, and each story of the building can be removed.
There are a few missed opportunities. It would have been nice to get a Stay Puft marshmallow bag, and maybe some fried eggs and a a carton. There's some other equipment besides the proton packs that were used in the two films that could have been included, like the device Venkman uses in Dana's apartment, and the slime blowers used in the second film. I would have liked a full painting of Vigo, and maybe some of those ESP testing cards. Tiny things that aren't really missing, but would have helped kids play out other scenes from the film.
Cons:
- Walter Peck, the human adversary of the film is not included. Thankfully, Thor's face from an Age of Ultron set works quite nicely if you want to make your own Peck.
- no new exclusive custom molds (besides Slimer). PKE meter, proton packs, and ghost trap remain brick built, while other things that would have been great like ECTO goggles aren't included.
- the back exterior wall looks ugly
One other minor gripe: I'm not in love with the Slimer figure. The molded body is very simple and smooth, and isn't wrinkly enough. The print is a little too cartoony... the eyes should have been beadier and mouth a little smaller.
The pros outweigh the cons tenfold. This is truly an incredible set, and is worth every penny! "

Star Destroyer Build is Confusing
" While overall I love this set, the instructions for the Star Destroyer build are unclear to some. What's worse is that the ship is constructed differently on the front of the box than the image here (which seems to be the intended build). I've seen people make a third incorrect build with the 2x2 dark stone grey tile with stud placed toward the bow of the ship.
The intended build is decipherable with keen eyes, and the incorrect build doesn't look awful, nor is it unstable. But, as a set intended for kids, it would have been nice if the completed build was consistent on the packaging for reference, if someone wasn't as experienced at deciphering instructions.
Everything else is great! "

Great Game! Highly Recommended!
" The starter pack comes with everything you need to play through the main storyline of the game, which does come to a satisfying ending! I was a little worried that there might be some cliffhanger since there are plenty more waves of toy packs on the way.
Truly an incredible game with fun puzzle-solving gameplay based on the gamepad mixed into typical the TT LEGO Games formula. Incredible mixture of licenses, voice actors, and music.
Some minor cons: the USB cable is permanently attached to the gamepad, so if it happens to wear out, you're out of luck. It's also not wireless, and I did have one incident where my cat ran through the cable and smashed the pad and all the toys into the ground. Thankfully nothing broke!
The game came with day-one updates, meaning you'll need to wait a while before playing the game for the first time, assuming you want to update it, which I'd recommend. Thankfully, you're given paper instructions on how to build the portal that sits on the gamepad, so this is a good time to do some building!
One thing I did notice is that sometime characters can take a while to load in the game after you put them on the gamepad. Not sure exactly why this happens, but I did have to wait for 45-60 seconds for a few characters to finally pop into the game. This happened very rarely and will probably get patched in an upcoming update for the game.
I felt like flying characters (or vehicles) like the Wicked Witch were a little game-breaking. Although the slogan of the game is "Break the rules," I feel like you can bypass a bit too much of the game, like Portal 2 puzzles, by flying past them. You can easily solve this problem by not abusing these characters like I did.
You won't be able to 100% complete the core game until later waves are released (the announced Midway Arcade, Ghostbusters, and Dr Who packs, specifically). The levels have 10 minikits to unlock that sometimes require currently unreleased characters, and the freeplay worlds have certain gold bricks and things you can't do quite yet. There's a bonus dimension that you can open with gold bricks, but it too isn't fully completable until the aforementioned sets come out (and you're given no warning of this, the bonus dimension level just ends abruptly). So if you're a completionist, just know you won't be able to truly complete the game for a while.
The pros strongly outweigh the cons! Very highly recommended! "
