Beautiful, expensive set
" This is an extremely beautiful set — the level of detail on this thing is amazing. This is my second UCS Millennium Falcon.
My only complaints, all told, are relatively minor.
Yes, this set has 50% more pieces than its predecessor of the same overall size, but in a few places, it felt that they were just adding a lot of small pieces to bump up the part count without necessarily adding more detail — example — the 6 circular engine grill thingies on the back. The older UCS used a single slotted radar antenna piece per engine grill. Each one of the new engine grills uses 16 1x2 slotted grill tiles.
The other gripe I had was that for $800, a set this size (nearly 2’ x 3’) neither came with a vertical/angled stand, or had one available for purchase as an add-on. Living in a condo, I don’t have that kind of spare space just lying around. Ultimately, I found a design for a stand made of LEGO bricks, purchased the pieces on my own and built it separately. I’ve noticed that there are people now who sell premade plastic (lucite?) stands for this set. I actually bought a plastic stand for one of my smaller Falcons (7965) so they can be displayed side by side.
Neither here nor there - the building instructions manual is HUGE. Using my dining room as my assembly area, I didn’t have the space for the In-process Falcon, the book, and the pieces. To make matters easier, I just downloaded the building instructions PDF to my tablet and used that instead. "

Great building experience
" Bought this even though I had the smaller, non-UCS Y Wing. Was a fun build, not too complicated - best part was just seeing the level of detail on the ship.
Great addition to my Star Wars LEGO collection. "

Fun Build
" This build was pretty easy --- completed it over the course of several hours while cooking dinner and doing laundry.
It is, in my opinion, one of the best looking UCS sets that have come out in a while. While it is a bit disappointing that no minifigures came with it, it was probably the most fun I had building a UCS set in a long time (the super star destroyer and the lambda class shuttle were probably the worst in terms of repetitiveness).
The $200-$250 price point seems to be the sweet spot for me in terms of bang for the buck. While I don't regret purchasing the Super Star Destroyer or the Death Star (that one hasn't made the trip from my home to the office), those sets get to be a bit repetitive/tedious given the sheer number of pieces.
While it does require the base (unless you hang it up with fishing line), it's not nearly as fragile as it appears. I wouldn't, however, go running around the house with it.
Ultimately, it makes a great display piece, especially sitting next to other UCS / large scale LEGO models. "
