" For those who know their Greek mythology, you will get the irony of this review.
I have Lego 10240 X-Wing and Lego 10227 B-Wing on my desk and coworkers frequently stop by to admire them. These ships you can handle and move the wings, open the canopy etc. That’s the key; you can handle those. Slave I is better left on its stand (thus the mythology comparison). The base of the ship is very robust, but the fuselage is almost as if the designers came to the realization that they had used up their quota of parts and had to finish it quickly. The fuselage sides are single sub-assemblies that are attached to the frame at two locations. Consequently, they are incredibly fragile and prone to crushing if you try to handle it. This proves to be annoying as it is the natural locate to pick this model up by. Additionally, this lack of robustness makes the two weapons bay doors all but pointless. Every time I try to open/close them it feels like the whole thing is going to fall apart. Finally, Salve I does not sit ON its stand like the previous sets; the stand actually slots into the back of the ship. Not the best idea Lego has ever had and adds to the philosophy of admiring it from a distance.
The cockpit is disappointing as it seems incomplete. When you look inside, you actually see all the way through the ship and out the back; not very professional. One would have expected Lego to complete the interior to a higher degree. If you are able to master the handling of Slave I and rotate it from the vertical to the horizontal position, the wings rotate quite nicely. However, the pilot’s seat does not. It is hinged, but the construction is too tight to allow it movement. The guns seemed very loose, but this can be remedied by adding a few of the left over parts to eliminate the slack.
I understand that the actual Slave I (I know it’s fictitious) wouldn’t have an opening canopy as the pilot would have accessed the flight deck from within. However, an articulated canopy would have been a nice consideration so as to facilitate access to Boba Fett.
With all that considered, the build was a lot of fun and it does look very impressive.
Is it worth it? Who cares; it’s Lego!!

Too Expensive, limited selection
" A re-iteration of what everyone else is posting. I have Lego boards from when I was a child. However, since Lego has increased the track between the wheels of the new vehicles, the old boards are all but useless. We have accumulated a significant Lego collection overt the last few years and building a Lego City is proving to be prohibitively expensive as we have to purchase a straight and a crossroad when all we need is a straight. Lego, you should increase your product line to include packs of two straights, two crossroads, two curves and two T-junctions. I wrote a letter to Lego customer service stating as such and I encourage all dedicated Lego fans to do the same! "
