great for train enthusiasts
" The train works really well with the new power functions, the XL motor is very strong and can pull many coaches. The power functions accessories are expensive, but you can reuse them in many other applications (I just turned my old lego technic car from the 80's into a remote control car with it).
I use this locomotive with the power functions to pull a train of about 8 feet long (with coaches mostly from lego 10183 and 10173) and it has no problems pulling this load.
To really enjoy this train you'll need not only coaches from other train sets, but you'll need a good amount of track too (don't use the flex-track except if you need to fill up a gap of 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 track-length). If you don't have any track yet, you may be better off with the other train sets lego is currently selling.
This train is destined to become a classic, so I think that a few years from now this train is sure to go up in value, just like lego's metroliner and the Santa Fe trains did.

The new high-speed passenger train is ready for departure! Stop at the platform to pick up the passengers and load up the luggage. Use the infrared remote control handset to toot the horn and control the train's speed. Includes engineer and 2 passenger minifigures, plus train platform! Includes 16 curved and 4 straight rails for a complete 28" x 37.5" (71cm x 95cm) track layout! Train has working lights and horn! Open the top of the train car to see the passengers inside! Complete train includes engine and two cars, and measures 31.5" (80cm) long! 3-channel infrared remote control moves train forward and backward at 3 different speeds! Requires 9 AA (1.5v) batteries, not included. Train also runs on 9v LEGO train tracks.

I thought that the reason for switching from 9V to battery remote
control was cost. However, this train costs about the same as
the comparable 9V high-speed train (item 4511 from 2003)
so the cost advantage compared to the 9V system appears to

What's true for every train set every sold is also true for this one:
play value increases drastically if you have more track,
including switches, Just bite the bullet and spend the money
to buy the Deluxe track package so your train can go
through switch points. Lego holds value very well so you

Very good value.
" This is a very nice train. Six cars and over 1 meter long; an incredible deal for only $45.

Every week another train!!!
" For some reason I could download the files with one browser but not with another browser (in any case, I got the files now and it works).
My son loves having another train every once in a while. With this set we can build another train every Saturday for 30 weeks in a row!
Plus, with all these train parts we can build several of the neat trains we've seen in pictures on the internet. "
