Nice display model
" As a petrol head, the Caterham was a must have for the collection and it's a car that works well in Lego form.
The build itself is just the right side of challenging, with some nice touches to keep you hooked.
The only critisim is the stability of some elements. The dashboard structure balance on a rod seems very fragile as does the rear boot cover, balanced on.
The nose cone. with its distintive Caterham droop, is well realised visually but the fixing does make it prone to fall off.
One to build then leave on the shelf as a display piece, rather than tamper with! "

Basic
" Ok, I was bought this for a Christmas present and not something I'd have selected myself but found the set very basic.
The build is very basic and even for the target age group something I doubt they'd find challenging.
What really disappointed though was the finishing details. Open the cockpit and there's no finishing detail apart from a random couple of slopes. The same goes for the wings. It's like there was thought on creating the basic shape but without detail. "

Smaller than expected
" BB8 was always destined to be a Lego model and this set captures the spirit of him well.
The set combines technics elements for the movement element and that's the most complex bit of the build. The rest is slightly repetitive but given the speherical shape and the mainly white colour scheme that's to be expected.
Overall I was slightly disappointed with the finished size. With the release of the UCS falcon perhaps time for a giant BB8 model. "

Basic doesn't really cover it
" OK, so this advent calendar has been reduced to clear at many retailers, down to around the £17 mark but even so it's poor value.
The actual pieces are, as many others have said, basic and lacking in originality. While I'd normally keep a few of the assembled ships etc on display, this year they are likely to only add to the spare brick collection.
Given the hype of the new film out this Christmas, Lego have missed an opportunity and instead have churned out a boring, uninspired set that won't keep anyone enthralled in the run up to Christmas.

A design classic reimagined
" Having gone to Uni in London, the classic Routemaster Double Decker was a large feature of student life - from getting me to Uni each day, to me doing cheapskate tour guide impression from top deck for family, to the Night Bus home!
This model is a welcome addition to the series, and to quote one of my family members on the finished product, doesn't even look like Lego!
The build is not as complex as feared given the scale. As others have said the seats are highly repetative (and have a tendency to recline - something that London bus seats don't sadly!). I'd also consider if the chewing gum under the seat is worth it, as it can't actually be seen once in place! Unusually for Lego, the set also had two missing peices - at it happens in the very last step (the wing mirror arms) - so didn't stop assembly and can add them when replacements arrive from Lego but unusual in Lego's quality control.
My one gripe is the stability of some of the sections when removing them - and before Lego comments like they have on a previous review raising the issue - I have checked the build instructions and rebuilt the section a couple of times to check and the top deck still tends to shed pieces if picked up incorrectly. That said, I suspect like mine, many finished models won't be played with but displayed on a shelf in the man cave! "

Excellent detail
" A fun build and one that results in a beautifully detailed model, ideal for display.
The display option is probably best as despite its size, parts of the van are pretty fragile. As others have said, the roof in particular seems fragile, but other parts such as doors and windows can also be prone to fall off.
