Birthday present! Nailed it :) Yay!
" Bought this for my son's 6th birthday, I was ably assisted by the 6 year old himself and 2 brothers (one slightly older, one slightly younger). This set turned out to be an excellent choice as there was something for all of them. I built the helicopter first/fast, which gave The Younger something to play with, The Older was set to work building the main fire station. The 6 year old did very well building the fire truck himself (leaving Mummy slightly suprised but very proud!). It is now a week old, and they are still avidly playing with it, and fighting over the sausages. Kids are weird.

One Pleased 3 Year Old!
" I bought this for my 3 year old son for Christmas, his brothers were all getting Lego sets so I needed something achievable (and preferably A DIGGER!) this was perfect.
I sat him down at the kitchen table and helped him build it using the instructions (he's seen his brothers do it before so this was a 'big boys thing'). Good job it was so easy as it meant I could interact with the older kid's Lego kits at the same time.
He mainly built it himself with direction from me, I had to add the buckets(?) at the end, but he can do this himself now after practice. It is a lovely bright yellow and he was rather chuffed 'driving' it about.
Money well spent, thanks Lego! "

Not bad but not great.
" This arrived as a gift from a relative for "the fire service obsessed 5 year old". I managed to leave him alone with it whilst I did some housework (no really! I cleaned!) he came to me when he hit a snag.
The hovercraft is good! The rest of the kit is a bit of a waste of space I'm afraid. The dock is too complicated, and for all that effort it doesn't do much, so now it is built he just ignores it. But it kept him happy for a while! And he built most of it himself, so in respect of confidence building the hovercraft was a win. "

Christmas gift success!
" Bought this for my 5 year old (a fire service obsessed child). Naturally had to build it straight away after opening on Christmas day. I have a new trick with brand new Lego kits; the big bags get opened and tipped onto a tray on the dining room table, the smaller bags contents then get put onto a plastic plate. Seems to help a little when trying to find the smaller (i.e. TINY!) pieces.
This kit doesn't have as many pieces as you might expect but they are larger pieces and they go together quite quickly, so it was quite satisfying (as opposed to stressful for an impatient 5 year old) and the finished piece is pretty impressive.
Also agree with other reviews, the panels that make up the firey container are pretty good, reminiscent of sectional castle walls, good for a quick and convincing build result, excellent for small fingers still developing coordination.
A nice shared experience for mummy and son. "

One very pleased little boy!
" I bought this for my son who is fireman Sam mad. He is only just 5 and his coordination isn't very good, but he has started to learn that the instructions are important whilst lego building :) and it is also teaching him how sequences and counting can be important in his every day activities. This set is a lot quicker to build than most but still looks the business (like a 'grown up' set). I still can't believe this little set earned me such a big hug! I am one pleased mummy!

Son's birthday gift
" My 5 year old son was given this for his birthday recently, I thought it was a bit cliche'd but we ended up sat at the kitchen table making it and it was awesome! " My son was bought this for his 5th birthday by a friend. At first i rolled my eyes coz i just knew it would be me building it. However we got really into it, and i could actually see my little boy (who has hearing difficulties) developing new skills and having a lot of fun besides. We now have six different sets and there are more for Christmas. Suppose i will have to build some more. What a shame! How terrible! Yay! I'd forgotten how addictive this stuff could be :D
