Great set - Slightly fragile but otherwise perfect
" Although a so-so Harry Potter fan, I was moved to purchase this set due to the variety of parts and the well done design of the hut itself. Fans will be thrilled with it, and builders will find it's very useful as a study in how to make hinged open building designs, and the appropriate use of details for a scene and how it can be use to inspire play. Once constructed it has a charm that the best LEGO sets have, and makes a great desktop set.
There are only two downsides - the first is that it is somewhat fragile if pressure is applied on certain points the walls can have separation problems - a couple small additional 1x2 parts will solve this. The other downside is the spider which detracts from the set due to it's looking rather cheap and silly. Honestly, a couple of trees would have been better. Outside of that it's pure LEGO magic (no pun intended)! "

Better than you think
" While the box art may not be so inspiring, the set itself once assembled is quite cool. The Cobra itself is very unique looking as a LEGO build, and the altar with it simply adds to the allure. Even the vehicle, which is fairly generic, fits nicely with the snake, providing a scale that makes it all the more menacing looking (minifigs watch out - lol). The snake-charmer mummy is nice, if there is one complaint it is that he needs something to wave around like a gold asp - not just a pair of plain old LEGO snakes. "

A good starting set for the Monster Fighters
" As a fan of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, I had to pick this set up and it inspired my renewed interest in LEGOs as an adult. As the introductory set for the Monster Series, it encapsulates the tale; monsters with gems, good guys out to retrieve the stones and dispatch the monsters in the process. This is an exceptional set in that the Monster Fighter equipment and figure is actually (sadly) more interesting than the monster. The Swamp Creature itself is rather uninspiring, especially when one considers that creatures like the Manbats in the series have built in wings and much more interesting heads; the over-the-head mask just seems wrong, and almost implies the creature is a fake of some kind. Worse, there are no glow-in-the dark parts to him which would have added to his appeal. Still, for the collector the set is worth the price and a must-have if you are a Monster Fighters collector! "

An instant classic!
" Well designed, fun and simply cool - this is perhaps the best Monster Fighters set next to the Castle and Haunted House. The Vampyr Hearse is just what a fan of the 70's funny car designs would be - with a distinct Rockabilly flair that is just plain "cool"! The action figures are all well chosen for the set, and the cycle itself, while a small mostly formed piece, is cool in it's own right. If there are any criticisms of the set it would be that the bike could use a sticker or two of it's own and perhaps a couple pieces to stick on the back - no problem for the typical LEGO enthusiast though! Fun to roll around, you will not regret adding this to your collection! "

An awesome Halloween Decoration and Toy
" My fiance and her kids (both college age) had done some of the LEGO setups in the past from the Architecture series. Being a bit less high-brow myself I opted for the idea of using the Haunted House as a decoration for the dining table. This set is simply pure LEGO fun and genius; the hinged design should be the standard as it allows sets to have more of a decorative use when not in use. We opted to get two of the large grey sheets and cut them to go under the two halves to help stabilize and open the house and provide a base for other surrounding pieces (see photos). As always, price is a bit steep but the fun factor and decorative value more than makes up for it as everyone will stop to take a look. The only downside is you _will_ be tempted to get more of the "Monster Fighters" series as they make great additions to the house; the Vampire Hearse is a must in my opinion!
Sets and Pieces in use here:
Haunted House
The Vampyre Hearse
The Zombies
The Werewolf
The Swamp Creature
Misc: Mummy, skeleton, alien queen and grey, 2 large grey base sheets
Note to designers: Please consider adding in two "base" pieces to the set; this is cheap and *very* useful! Oh and why is there no black cat piece for such an awesome set? "
