Worst Set of 2013
" In 2013 I was super excited to get this set and I saved up all of my money, and even got it on sale. This may have been a mistake, because this is just about the worst set I own.
There are no exclusive minifigures or parts, and wasn't the most famous or popular, so there isn't much collectible value. The price for the amount of pieces is just below average, and none of the pieces really stand out or are special, so it's not a great buy just for the pieces. Building it is a challenge, even for an experienced builder like me, because the model isn't all that strong. It can't be played with (easily) because it just falls apart. The set can't be displayed because it is too large to fit on shelves, and doesn't look great to begin with. It's hard to store without taking the whole thing apart. Most of the functions don't work that well. The bridge often comes off from the technic piece that's used to pull it. The eagle glider thing is small and the minifigure that stands on it makes it look bad. There's too much empty space in the whole main area. The lion head looks too spiky, but that could be said about many CHIMA sets. The front Lion head section looks strange when it's down off from the mane. I don't like that the small laser pieces that come out from behind the set don't shoot. The lion head section is pretty much a big wall which is basic and not great. I tried lifting this set from many different points but it almost always fell apart.
I normally love sets that are buildings to add to my LEGO collection, but this just doesn't meet the mark. "

Pretty Neat Dragon
" I wasn't too interested in NINJAGO when this set came out, having enjoyed CHIMA at the time, but I always thought that this was the best dragon NINJAGO had to offer. This year I got this set used, and am I glad I did. The model is so well done, it even stacks up to today's dragons (Dragon's forge, Jay's dragon) and the side build is pretty neat too.
I like how the dragon is built but wish that the wings were a little more stable and have a little more poseability to them. The lack of exclusive parts also stings a bit. The head is exclusive, you could argue that, but still. Golden Ninja Lloyd is neat, but was also available in the Temple of Light and the more recent Dimensions pack, which was much cheaper.
One of the things that's important for me to consider is the playability of the set. Really good for that point, I could imagine little kids being entertained by this for hours. This is where the side build comes in. The catapult barely works, but the weapons rack is a great addition.
In conclusion, this dragon is very well done, has a nice selection of fun (but not exclusive) minifigures, and a pretty good value for the money. "

Best LEGO Set Out There
" When this set first came out, I was so excited. Every time we went to the mall, I looked at it the same way the boy in A Christmas Story looked at the gift he wanted. When I received this as a gift for Christmas, I almost cried.
The box may have been the most startling part of the whole thing. I knew that the model was large, but the box was even more so. I could hide behind the box and fit half of me inside. The box had two smaller boxes inside. There were 16 bags in total, so those smaller boxes really helped for me to find the right bags.
I'm glad it wasn't set up like some expert sets I have gotten that don't number the bags. It was really helpful to find the right parts when the bags were numbered, and also let me lengthen out the build time and enjoy it.
I never wanted the building to end. Building it was so much fun, the best build experience of any LEGO set I have ever gotten. The tiles to make the water may have been one of my favorite parts. It was almost calming to place them all down in a perfect order.
The value for money this set has is the best ever. Almost 5,000 pieces for only $300 US. So many great pieces are included,
Of course, the minifigures are amazing. The box advertises the 16 character minifigures and the robot, but two more clothes models are included in the department store, bringing the total up to 18. I wish that all of the ninja were included though.
CONCLUSION
I have almost no complaints. It was too tall and heavy to put on my best shelf, but I expected that. It was a great value for money, fun to play with (even as a 14 year old), amazing to build, and has some of the best stickered, printed, and molded elements I have seen. If you only get one set this year, get this one.

More than worth your time and money!
" When I first saw this set I was very excited. There was finally a set recomended for ages 14+
After purchasing, my family wanted to venture around the mall, and it was inconveinient to carry it around. When i opened the box, there was much extra room, and the box designers could have made the box smaller.
The build was fun. I thought the blacksmith's shop was to easy to build, and the market area was to simple in general. I didn't care for the fact that the bridge wasn't actually connected to the model. When played with, the bridge slides around a lot.
I find the temple itself to be a stunning piece, a looker for any room. Even on it's own, it makes a great display piece. I like that this set is fun to play with, including a variety of rooms and accessories, but turn it around to get a beautiful model. Unlike other NINJAGO sets, this can be displayed or played with. It's harder to display a simplistic car, or technic mech.
This set is hard to store without taking it apart. This fact doesn't bother me because I use the temple as a room decoration, and store the rest.
In general, i would recomend this set. If you like to play with or display your sets, this one is for you. If you buy sets to use the pieces in MOCs then this one is definitely not worth your money. "
