One more Paris Icon, completed
" When I saw that LEGO Architecture was introducing the Arch de Triomphe, I knew I needed it. The set doesn't disappoint. The design is simple, which is important for this scale. The details are conveyed in unique ways that capture this landmark well.
The build itself, is easy. I like the steps that helped create dimension to the statues and friezes. My only suggestion is that if you are like me, you should add the little statues at the end, because when I'd pick up the piece, I would invariably knock them off and have to put them on again.
It will have pride of place with The Eiffel Tower, Villa Savoye, and The Louvre. "

Museum Worthy
" I was excited when I saw that The Guggenheim Museum was being released with a new LEGO Architecture set. I am a big Frank Lloyd Wright fan, and to say I was disappointed in the previous version of the Guggenheim, would be an understatement. It always seemed oddly proportioned. I realize that the designers are limited by brick shapes, and budget constraints, especially with a round building, but that set was a let down.
The new set is amazing. Every element of the design is light years beyond the previous one. The build is challenging, and it is fun to see the details as they emerge. Little quirks in the build, reveal themselves to be design elements that are almost hidden, unless you look closely. There are also the witty design elements that fit for the Guggenheim. The yellow taxi's and the white grills which represent cross walks, all fit into the New York theme.
When done, the design is cohesive and proportional. Though it is impossible to achieve the spiral ramp element of FLLW's architecture, the gradual step out of the curved floors suggests it in a modern way.
This set is definitely in my top five fave within the Architecture series. It gets pride of place on my LEGO shelf. I call this set Museum Worthy, because it is a set worthy of the Museum it represents. "

Glad I finally got this one
" I don't know why I didn't buy the White House set earlier. Over the years I have bought, and built many of the Architecture Series. I've focused on my favorite architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, and also have built sets that have personal meaning to me. Somehow, this set slipped through the cracks.
I'm glad I finally own and have built this set. At times, like in many of the Architecture Series, the build is repetitive. Architecture is repetitive, so I am okay with that. For a while I wished that the windows were made with clear bricks, but after a certain point in the build, I appreciated them as negative space. It actually makes the building look more cohesive, since it is mainly white, black and green with just a few gray, and brown pieces.
One cool aspect of building an older Lego Architecture set after building a more recent one, is you see the evolution of the series. Buckingham Palace for instance, seems more detailed, even if the scale is different. They both display well, which I consider part of the play value.
Looking forward to buying and building the United States Capital Building to add it to my DC display. "
