Wow. This set is amazing.
" I grew up loving NASA, especially the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. I used to build makeshift rockets and pretend they were the Saturn V, Command module, and Lunar module, but they were nothing compared to this. When I first saw this was coming I pretty much knew I had to have it. So let's get to the review.
First of all, this is a massive set at 1969 pcs and the finished height is about 1 meter so you need to have space for the build and display. Opening the box, you have 12 bags and the insruction manual. It's basically the size of small catalog. It does come with some information about the Apollo missions and the design(ers) of this set. The instructions are fairly easy to follow, even for someone like myself who has only built a couple of sets in the last 20 years. There were only a couple of places where I had a little confusion, but was able to figure it out. The bags are also neatly sorted by the steps so you only have to open one bag at a time, making things even easier. That being said, the build still went fairly quick considering the size. I didn't time it but I estimate about 5 hours total.
The finished product is absolutely stunning. The detail that went into this project is just fantastic. And as I said before, it is massive. Pictures don't really do it justice.
I only gave the play rating an average. However, mine will be for display. It is possible to play some, but the sheer size makes that a little more difficult. Also, the area around the Command module isn't as play frienldy as the other sections. That area doesn't easily detach like the bottom sections. I would recommend this mostly for display.
This product is definitely worth the money spent, especially for a Saturn V/Apollo fan such as myself. But I think anyone, other than someone who wanted a play set, would get a great value for the experience and quality of this prodiuct.
TL;DR review: This is a great set quality and value wise, unless you want it for play. It is still somewhat playable though. Overall, a fantastic set that I would definitely recommend. "
