"I, like others, assumed a $50(!) rechargeable battery would come with the means to recharge it. The description needs to add the words "(not included)" right after the statement saying it can only be charged with the LEGO transformer. Though honestly, I'm not sure that would have helped me avoid this mistake as I bought the item based on the title and it showing up as a recommended item when I added other power functions to my bag.
The power functions needed to motorized my LEGO train were already getting pricey and I'm now considering returning them all. This battery box is certainly getting returned as I'll just use rechargeable AA batteries in the battery box holder if I decide to keep the power functions. (And I'll still never have to buy AA batteries again!)
I suspect if you already have the transformer to recharge this, it could be a good purchase depending on how many recharging cycles this battery gets. Others will have to speak to that, though."

Very glad for the re-release, but...
"I am actually very glad LEGO decided to re-release this set. For those of us who didn't get in on the original, it is nice to have the option to complete our collection without paying exorbitant mark-up from resellers on eBay, etc.
However, I note the original set had a MSRP of $59.99. While this set has more pieces (898 vs. 815) and an extra mini-fig, not sure those are worth $20, especially as they are probably all very small pieces to make up the new toys. Also, would have preferred the old wreath style to the new, but I like that the garland and jack-in-the-box are different colors to differentiate this re-release from the original. (Also, the changes allow those obsessed with getting originals to still follow their passion and eBay re-sellers to make their profit.)
All in all, glad LEGO decided to re-release and I hope they might consider doing the same with other limited edition products from time to time."
