Very cool and unique build!
" This is a really great set, the design is fantastic and it has tons of cool features, everything in the real world is mirrored in the gloomy underworld which makes for a lot of unique parts (minor gripe, many of them are stickers) however there are still a ton of really great elements that will be very useful for MOCs. The character display stand is a nice touch as well for fans of the show who are using this for a display piece. Personally I wasn't that into the show but I did enjoy it and it has been captured beautifully in LEGO with this issue set. Tons of neat darker tones of botanical parts and overall a really cool set. LEGO has really been going above and beyond with their adult oriented products, and this is no exception. Highly recommended whether you're a fan of the show or not, you really don't need to have even seen it to enjoy this set but either way you won't be disappointed!

Awesome sticker pack!!!
" This is one of the coolest things LEGO has produced in a long time. That classic hamburger sticker brought back so much lovely nostalgia, I had the old early 90s idea book with the sticker sheet and that hamburger sticker was one of my favorites. And there are tons of other awesome stickers, especially the pet store ones with the fish tank and the hamster tunnels.. you get 5 sheets and at least 90% of them are unique and very useful for all sorts of MOCs.. I can see why these sold out so quickly and I really hope they're not gone for good, at least i was able to get some before they were gone.. I've got so many great ideas for these, they definitely get a 10/5 for usefulness, cool factor, and all around greatness. Plus it comes with a few extra parts to apply the stickers to that were a surprise, I didn't even know it came with those when I bought them. Absolutely great product, one of the most enjoyable LEGO products i've ever had!! Everything is awesome with these!!

Great concept, bad pricing
" I think it is amazing that LEGO is bringing back these accessories packs, I remember them from when I was a kid in the late 80's/early 90's, they were a great way to get cool pieces like armor and control panels without having to buy a large set.
However this new iteration is, from an adult builder's perspective, not exactly a great value. There is a lack of variety in parts and the cost per piece is way more than you would pay for only the parts you really wanted through a third party seller.
To make these more appealing I would suggest adding a few more pieces and variety for the same cost, I realize that the price point can only be so low, however throwing in a few more parts for the money would make them more desirable. To me the sets are too small and too expensive to be worth buying in quantity, which I often do to get a large number of certain pieces for a build.
The concept here is great, it just needs refinement. Unless of course the target market is exclusively children (the playmats for example) in which case the product is perfect as is (although not something I would purchase again)

Alluplicates from the sets, terrible randomization
" The major negative to these packs is that there is nothing here that you cant get from the sets. I have every set released to date and none of the powers in these packs are new. Furthermore, if you play the mobile game like I did, all the powers are available online if you know where to look, and all you have to do is scan the image into your app. Regardless though I'm going to want a physical shield, not just a digital scan (although some powers dont exist as of yet in physical form). This would be a great way to provide those shields, but instead you get loads of duplicates found in the sets and the small minifig battle sets. Theyre really pointless and the cost is absurd. $4 for a minifigure blind bag is fine, but these have none of the uniqueness or value of the minifig packs. Also, experienced fingers can identify a blind bag in a few seconds without ever damaging the bag. With these there is no way to know whats inside without opening them. I bought a full unopened case of them when they were first released and after opening about 15 bags I gave up on them and am keeping the rest to sell or trade later after they go out of production. Very disappointing product and to me it was a way to repackage parts with very little value into an overpriced and nearly useless product that will cause people to buy them in search of complete sets, when its possible to get all of them (as far as Im aware) from the existing sets. Maybe fun for kids but to me I was very disappointed in these packs.
PS... PLEASE make more NEXO buildings or something to add some variety to the sets!!! I think the new tech wizard robot vampire sets have awesome figures and the design is very very cool, but 5 vehicles and nothing else, not even a brick-built monster or anything is highly disappointing!!

Very nice overall but some annoying flaws
" Everything thats been said about it is true, it was a very enjoyable set to build and its a cool design. However there are a few issues that no one has mentioned, which I think are worth addressing. Although they dont affect the overall set very badly, they do affect the playability quite a bit. First, theres the manual air pump, which has to be constantly worked with every cylinder actuation. This gets in the way of realistic function. Also, LEGO needs to bring back the pneumatic air tank which was used in a few sets back about 15 years ago. This would keep the air pressure more stable and also allow for more movements between compressions. Another small issue is with the bucket open/close cylinder. It will close the bucket fine, but often to re open it you have to give it a nudge to open. I believe this is because when the bucket is closed the cylinder is completely extended, and it sort of binds up upon re opening. Not a huge deal but it does affect function. Otherwise its a lot of fun and Im a big fan of the redesigned cylinders, definitely not a set to pass up if youre a serious collector or fan of technic equipment models, but it is nowhere near the old 8043 Motorized Excavator. That model is yet to be surpassed by anything in terms of realistic function and solid reliable controls.

Overpriced for generic figures
" The gargoyle is a must have if you're serious about completing collections, since this figure is only available in this pack, as well as the smaller warrior (I think). Beyond that I agree with the previous review, the pack is overpriced for three figures and a few generic weapons. For $13 USD there should be 4 figures, especially considering the lack of any other accessories in this pack. If it included one of the rarer "boulder monsters" like the Brickster from Jestros Headquarters that would make it well worth the cost, but as it is its not a very good value :(

Great set but has its flaws
" This is a great set overall and was a lot of fun to build, theres a ton of useful parts and it looks great with my line up of other Technic models. However for a flagship set like this it has a few shortcomings that the previous models have not had. Overall functionality was just nowhere near as good as the previous models, ie: Volvo wheel loader, 42009 MKII crane, 9398 4x4, and of course the unrivaled 8043 Motorized Excavator, which in my opinion holds the premier spot, none of the other models even come close to the 8043 in terms of design, function, play value and overall awesomeness.
As others have said, the hoses were difficult to route through the crane base, and despite having them run as neatly and efficiently as possible I still have some minor issues with them binding and being in the way of rotating the boom. Also the clutch gear will frequently spin out before the boom moves as it seems to have less resistance than necessary to rotate it. Steering is limited, the turning radius is absolutely huge, i would have been happy to sacrifice some or all of the suspension feature for better steering.
I was super excited about the new pneumatic cylinders, I have been wanting a cylinder with a longer range for YEARS, ever since my first pneumatic set in 1990 actually, and these are amazing. However this model does a really lackluster job of showcasing them. The boom operation is slow and especially with closing the bucket and extending the slide part the cylinders often need a bump to help them.
Overall its a great set and looks good in my flagship lineup, but it has a lot of technical difficulties the other models didnt have. Whether this was because there was less time for design refinement or something else I dont know, but these problems were definitely disappointing after having so many great experiences with the previous models
