Several problems with this product
" I been a loyal customer for almost my entire life, I just love to build with LEGO. Even did beta tests for several LEGO PC games. But this product rather makes me very disappointed in the company.
I expected to buy a product from the same quality as in the past. While I never really did have much money to buy much, I focused mostly on getting sets that would add to my total bricks and useful bricks. This caused me to skip on the ground plates which are rather expansive to start with. I do have mostly plates from the 80's and 90's, but these new ones are rather a completely new thing that adds a lot of problems.
1. Quality is rather poor compared to the original, thicker plates. It bents way to easy and with that it could likely be unusable in no time depending on who is using it. A child may for example bend it during playing within a month. A adult may find a similar problem within the year of intensive usage. Which is a serious problem due to it's fairly high price for 1 item.
2. Color is way off, this is a light green and not the original green that was sold in the 80's and 90's. It should be re-branded as 'light green' and a original green color variant should be placed back in the product line.
I keep noticing these problems with many more parts that LEGO produces lately, which is a big problem for the amount of money you pay as customer. Of course this also adds a even bigger problem in case of small parts breaking off. For a adult that may be just a sad feeling left behind or angry that it broke so easily. But for kids it could mean that they manage to swallow it with obvious things following.
For the colors, this seems to be happening with a lot of original colors on the bricks. You won't hear me if these were added to what LEGO has in it's arsenal so to speak. But replacing the old, which never really happened before in such a huge way, is a huge no-no. I strongly will ask LEGO to NEVER do that again in the future. It will seriously cause problems for those that don't have the money to buy often or much but still have the same hobby long after their childhood. Also it causes a lot of confusion as you never know what to expect when you buy a set. Kids may not really even know or notice, but for the long time expert builders this is a huge problem.
My tip for parents with young children:
Please don't be afraid of my review, kids will manage to break what ever they can. This is how they learn the quickest. It may also teach them not to break something and expect to get rewarded for it by a brand new toy.
For the color variation in this and other lego products, don't feel bad because of it. Kids have a very rich imagination and will 100% for sure find a reason why they have suddenly a different color and how to use it to the best of their abilities.
For LEGO company:
I highly urge to work on the points that I pointed out, as fan of the company myself I would hate to see LEGO go down on something so silly. Yet unfortunately it could easily happen with current day foolishness in the world. Please be welcome to contact me, I would love to help out to restore order in the madness created the last decades.

Excellent but too expansive
" This set is a excellent addon to my pirate LEGO collection, but with a few problems. I seriously hate the heads, I loved the orriginal yellow heads. But I'd say in this case it isn't that bad. Faces are well done, minifigs are nicely detailled. I do miss Captian Jack's hat though, would have thought that it would be added. That is a dissapointment.
The rest of the set is really created with economic building in mind. It does not really show much, but it still has a very high pricing. Only reason I can see why this is, is because of the name Pirates of the Carabean. I rather hate it that LEGO forces people to pay this much for a tiny set. The set is very limited in play functions yet well designed. I personally have some trouble getting the chest opened since it's sealed pretty tightly.
A odd thing is how Captain Hector Barbossa changes into skeleton and back. It's adding brickt for no reason, this should be a static rockface instead. If you'd ask me.
The new cutlass holsters are excellent, and well worth to have more of these. However the hat of Captain Hector Barbossa is also a excellent addition to the collection! Some gold blocks and new coins are added as well. Although I personally hate to see the old coins being replaced with these new ones.
I found the box to be a lot bigger then the eventual set itself. In my opinion way to oversized. The skill level needed to build this set is extremely easy. Any starter can work on this, yet watch out for small parts such as the coins for example.
Playability: 8/10
Design: 7/10
Value for money: 5/10
Last words:
Would I recommend this set? Only if you are a Pirates of the Carabian fan AND have already more sets of this line OR the orriinal Pirate theme line. Other option is to buy it for the parts only, this is a nice set if you can add it to your excisting collection mostly though.

Excellent set!
" A set for all builders that are vermilliar with TECHNIC LEGO! Many parts, functions and has motors included! I got at the moment 1 set, but I am planning on buying at least 1 more, perhaps another ontop of that in the future! The design looks great, nicely done and no odd ends to it!
Playability includes figuring out how to use the engines and how to work its controls. Actually pretty fun, but during building I slipped up and forgot to addin one of the cogs. Which made me destroy most of the vehicle and start over. So you DO need to pay attention pretty closely for some parts to make everything work perfectly. This is why I rate this set as very challenging.
Isnt very handy to drive, but that may be a part of how to get things working correctly. You can actually make nice alternate models including your own design. This set has more then enough bricks to fit your needs.
The set i boughed is currently part of a RC tank project that I started a while back. It makes excellent use for that as long as you make your own chassis. I however do find some small value for money issues. I simply HATE stickers on LEGO, they simply never keep on the LEGO parts. They just peal off in a short time. I did not use my stickers, simply because I did not see why I had to waste them. I urge LEGO to print the parts as they used to do instead of keep using these awefull stickers.
Another point that can use some attention, is the weight of the arm vs the body. If you load the arm up, you end up with the arm being heavier then the body. Which makes it tip over. It isn't a big issue, but it is still worthy to mention.
I never made the alternate model, so I can not really tell much about that.
Playability: 10/10
value for your money: 8/10

Would I recommend this set? Yes, It is well worth the money although it has some minor flaws. I recommend ONLY people that are more advanced with TECHNIC LEGO to buy this since it seriously needs your attention during building. You need to know the basic mechanics for TECHNIC LEGO as well as machines like this model shows.
My recommendations towards the sticker problem: Either keep them on the paper they came on or apply a little glue between the LEGO part and the sticker. This solves the problem in general, unfortunately no other alternative. "
