I've got a GOOD feeling about this ...
" Ladies and gentlemen ... please welcome the new holder of the title "Most Iconic LEGO Set" ... the 2nd generation UCS Millennium Falcon 75192!
This is no exaggeration. I have the original 10179 set, and while this new incarnation is the same size - and shares some of the same build techniques - as the original, it is a significant step up in quality. The extra 2,300 pieces are sprinkled around the interior and exterior to give a much more rigid and detailed Falcon than its predecessor. It's not just the addition of interior rooms (and more colourful interior brickwork!), but a much smoother exterior with more tan and dark grey areas. There are a good selection of mini-figures as well - even though you can't get 4 in the cockpit as you could in set 10179. But having a new closed-in canopy instead of bars is a definite improvement.
I wanted to enjoy the build, so I restricted myself to 1 stage per evening over the course of 3 weeks. There are 17 sets of bags which made for a thirty-hour build. But you really do need to take your time and appreciate the ingenuity of the design and construction.
My only gripe? Stickers!! There are printed instrument panels, so why couldn't that have been extended to the other elements that needed graphics! Time will tell whether this was a duff decision or not.
In summary - if you are having second thoughts about parting with £650 for 7,541 pieces of molded ABS plastic, just look at the masterpiece that has been created by Hans and the team. It really is a work of art.

Not so bad ... why all the negativity??
" I'm not sure what the reviewers who rated "below average" were expecting from this set. Yes - it's over-priced - but I was fortunate to get it from a local independent toy store for £150 which I felt was a more reasonable price!
The build is very satisfying, not least because the bags are not numbered. The pieces are bagged by type / colour so you need to sort ALL 1800 pieces before you start! In my case that meant "decanting" them into zip-lock bags so they would be easier to find during the build. It also meant I could seal them up and pack them back in the box and take my time with the build over 4 nights.
The open floor pan is not a problem for me. I like being able to the see the gears and axles working when you operate the various power functions, particularly the outriggers. The range of functions available, and having them remote controlled, makes this worthy of 40th Technic Anniversary Flagship status.
And my 2 and a half year old grandson absolutely loves it !!!! (Maybe that's the best endorsement of all)

Don't blame LEGO ...
" I had previously had the McLaren F1 Pit Stop set as I'm a big fan of Lewis Hamilton, and that's where he started his career. Once he'd switched to the AMG Petronas team I've been waiting for this set to arrive - thanks LEGO!! It has everything you need from a licensed product.
But for those of you griping about the Hamilton mini-figure not having a brown head ... LEGO won't say it but it seems obvious to me ... they have only licensed use of the Mercedes AMG Petronas team name / colours NOT the drivers! Lewis will have his own image rights and I bet they cost a fortune. It's very different to licensing a character from a franchise such as Star Wars or Pirates of the Caribbean, rather than a living person. You can always trot to your local LEGO store and build your own mini-figure then use the head from that!

" I got back into buying and building LEGO a couple of years ago when I bought a second hand 8258 Crane Truck from my son's friend. Since then I've focused on buying the larger Technic and Star Wars sets (yes - I do have the 10179 Falcon :-D ).
The set is just about perfect. A challenging and rewarding build - take your time and just enjoy the ingenuity of the design. Once built, even I as a 50-year old can appreciate the play value :-) !! I get the feeling this set is aimed at AFOLs, but anyone who has an interest in all things engineering is gonna love it. Worth every penny!
