Lloyd's fifteen minute journey to nothingness
" As the smallest set of the 'fire snake/ice samurai' wave of Ninjago (can you tell I came up with that myself?) This set is bound to wind up in alot of hands. With (effectively) three minifigures at 12.99, it seems to be worth its money. Unfortunately, The two builds do not live up to the expectations that this era of Ninjago seems to have, as an incredibly poor two-piece 'sword in the stone' could definitely have been done without, or even better, substantially improved (there are battle packs that are cheaper and carry more bricks than the measily 81 here) whilst the ice samurai's nest, definitely an improvement thanks to the rare dark red shield pieces, has limited play capabilities aside from the repurposed bowcaster element.
Quite honestly, for alot of people including myself this set's only draw was the minifigures, which contain three delightfully detailed characters. The wolf form of Akira, unique to the set, is gorgeous, and would be my favourite if it wasn't so limiting in posability. Lloyd here is great, especially since he doesn't come with that ugly new mask i've seen quite a few times. My personal favourite is the blizzard samurai though, with exceptionally detailed armour that brilliantly captures this frosty menace.
So, all in all, I would recommend this set is ONLY picked up at a discount- at 12.99, there are far better sets you could pick up at that price.
