Nicely Done
" This set is overall nicely done. I have not seen this LotR movie yet, nor read the book which contains this part, so my review will be rather short.
First of all, what I am the most excited about in this set are the Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee minifigures. Sam is exclusive to this set, which makes it a must-buy for all those people who are trying to collect the whole LEGO Fellowship. Both Frodo and Sam have their Elven cloaks in this set as well. Gollum is good for a LEGO minifigure, but his little cave wall seems like a last-minute idea, and the launcher is not the best, but no doubt this can be fixed with some slight modification.
Finally, Shelob the spider is great. She has great movement and lots of poseable joints which do not move that much by accident. The wheels on the bottom are a nice touch for those younger fans who will press down on her from the top during play. The legs move side to side, and the abdomen rotates and moves up and down. The string "web" is great, and is a good length with a hook on the end. It is easy to wind back up, easier than the STAR WARS snowspeeders.
LEGO has done a good job on this set. "

"Look sir, droids for $20!!!!!!"
" It's true. We can finally get C-3PO in a set for less than $25!
This set is great all over. The escape pod is accurately detailed, and both C-3PO and R2-D2 can fit inside it comfortably. C-3PO is nicely detailed with his internal wires and "lit-up" eyes, and R2 is nice also. The sandtroopers are very good, and are correctly detailed with the pauldrons and even the leg printing. I really like the sand on them. The stickers are not bad, and they enhance the set.
There is only one thing about this set that I don't like all that much. That would be the price. The price per brick (PPB) rounds up to $0.15, which is kind of expensive compared to some other sets. This is somewhat counterbalanced by the terrific minifigures. However, a Dewback in this set would be fantastic, and would balance out the expensiveness.
Overall, this set is a good one to get, and if you don't have C-3PO then I would recommend you go and get it. "

People, we have a Classic here
" I first saw this set in a VIP email several months ago, and when I did, I got super excited. I am a history/aviation buff particularly interested in the World Wars era (besides being a huge LEGO fan), and was so excited that this important piece of history had been made into a LEGO model. Despite this, I never seriously considered purchasing it until I saw the Designer video. Controllable flaps? WOW!!! Genius!!!
So, I went to the Nashville LEGO store yesterday, and purchased it using a gift card I won from a CLUB contest over a year ago. I never thought I would buy something other than a STAR WARS set, (in fact I actually almost bought the Millenium Falcon instead, until I saw the Camel sitting in the store window), but I'm glad I did.
It took me almost 2.5 hours to build this set, and the build was more challenging than most that I've done. You start out by building the bottom wing and the front part of the fuselage. Then you continue by constructing the main body of the fuselage. This is where I encountered what I thought was my first problem: the elevators and the joystick wouldn't stay flat. However I found out later that this was normal, and will be fixed by the placement of rubber bands in those areas. Then you build the top wing. Great structure all through the wings, and the 8x16 plates you get are awesome! The landing gear and the engine are the last things you build.
Don't be alarmed if the flaps mechanism doesn't work right off; it will not work until the model is almost completely done. Overall it was a very fun build, with great techniques that you will probably learn a lot from. The flaps mechanism is one of those things that turns out to be quite simple, but takes a genius to think of it. About the stickers: there are 8 stickers in this model. If you do not like stickers, I think it would still be wise to put them on; they enhance the model so well, and give it that extra touch. The circles are rather easy to apply, and the others are small, so it makes it a bit easier. I had absolutely NO trouble with these stickers, and they went on easier than most others that I've done.
When you have finished, the result is breathtaking. The detail is so great and the colors so good looking. And the finished product is HUGE!!! It doesn't even fit on my shelf! The functions work just like LEGO says they will, and the plane is also very sturdy. You can fly it around without worrying that it will fall to pieces on the floor. However, this is essentially a display model. Really the only thing that isn't right about it is that when you turn the joystick left, the right flaps go down, and the left ones go up. In a real plane, this would result in a right turn when you push the stick left. That is the only thing not accurate about this model.
Here are the general pros and cons:
Pros:
Detail
Colors
Functions work
Sturdy
Rare pieces
Genius construction techniques
Cons: (these are really picky and small)
Not to minifigure scale
Opposite flaps turn
A few words about the price: It's worth the $100. Even though I used a gift card on it, I would have gladly spent the money if I hadn't have had the card.
This is the best looking model that I have, and my largest LEGO purchase to date. I sincerely hope that LEGO continues to design more WWI and WWII planes in this price range. There are plenty of them out there to make. I would highly recommend this product to any history, aviation, collector, or general LEGO enthusiast who has the money. Thank you for reading.

"You still have much to learn."
" This book is fantastic! So much information and details. It has data files of the minifigures that tell you the year, accessories, how many pieces, how many variants, etc. You will read this book more than once. You will also go back to it for reference. If you are thinking about getting it, you won't regret it. "

"The Circle is now complete."
" I got these magnets as a stocking stuffer last year. I didn't know about the "glue date", so I am lucky that my figures were not glued! This is a great way to get these rare-er minifigures, and the selection is based off of Ep. IV. The price for three minifigures is kind of high, but the rarity of the minifigure makes up for it. Plus, they come with weapons and the cool display stands you can use for other minifigures. If you want just minifigures, this is a good buy. "

"Startin' up the shields!"
" I have been waiting FOREVER for LEGO to make some more Gungans; these are the first in 13 years! I got this set for Christmas and have really enjoyed it. First of all you get the Gungans. They are extremely rare. Then you get 8 battle droids and 2 pilot droids. The pilot droids are not so easy to get either. Then there is the cool transport. The platforms for the droids each come off the rack, and the rack detaches from the carrier. Great way to ferry your droids around if you are having a LEGO battle. It has some cool pieces, too. The only thing I can think of that would make this set better is for there to be some Gungan weapon. A catapult of some sort, probably, like the ones in the movie. All in all a great set. "

Movie Accurate
" This is a great set: easy build, good minifigures, and a functional ship. I like the new minifigures, and the opening cockpit (a good upgrade from the 2005 version). But what I really like is how it's true to the movie. If you'll remember from Ep. III, these V-wings accompany Palpatine from Mustafar to Coruscant. When they land, the wings rotate just like the set. If you are thinking about getting this set, I would say get it. "

"A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins."
" "A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to."--Those where Gandalf's first lines in the Fellowship of the Ring. He said them while riding in his cart to Bilbo Baggins' 111th birthday, and that memorable opening scene is what this set accurately depicts.
I love it!! I am very glad that LEGO has purchased the Lord of the RIngs license!
Pros:
New minifigures are very very good
New horse
Comes with all the right accessories
Stays together well
Looks good
Cons:
No Ring
Seat only fits Gandalf
Back of cart doesn't open
The pros outweigh the cons here; very much so in fact. Overall very good set. Came just in time for MY birthday. :) "

The Iconic Landspeeder
" Finally LEGO has brought back Luke's Landspeeder!! I have been waiting for this one for a while. It is a great set, and easy to put together. It also stays together easily. I have nothing bad to say about it, except the price is about $5 over what I think it should cost. However, that is a small matter, because it is the first set with C-3PO under $99.99 in several years! "
