A big set
" Well this is my first "big" 100% technic set and I was impressed.
Coming from a "regular" Lego back ground it was a refreshing and challenging change.
The intricate gear set up and the method to change between functions is cleverly done and the end result is surprising from the steps taken to get there.
Probably the only negative, and it's often the same with normal Lego, is the instructions are sometimes a little vague on exactly which hole a pin is connecting to. In fact, after getting through all 900+ steps, I found that I had made a mistake in step 68 which was a real challenge to correct.
Now there just needs to be a mod made to make this remote controllable with the Lego app!

Fun build
" This was a fun little build. Yes aimed at the younger crowd, and the main component of the ship is a single construction shortcut piece, but the "whooshability" of the vehicles is high.
The big highlight is the lack of stickers! Pieces are printed! Hopefully this is a trend that will continue to the more complex sets as it a huge improvement over stickers.

A great example of what is wrong with new sets
" Just way too many stickers. Yes I realize that stickers for not need to be applied but that is not the point.
It looks goods, and plays well, just the stickers are a let down.

Interest set
" A Batman set is always a good set and this is another example of this. The Bat-Mobile is great, fairly sturdy, lots of play ability, and the hidden missiles are a nice feature.
Flash, well he's new so that too is great.
The Riddler figure is nice, but the Riddler's vehicle to me is the let down. The engine is great, the body is okay, but the rear spoiler is just horrible. Anytime its touched to play with the spoiler moves. Keeping it straight is a mission in its self and takes away from the fun.
Pricewise it's high as it expected of a licensed set.

An interesting design
" Some of the build techniques were certainly not Lego "standard" so were interesting to see.
The appeal will certainly be more for AFoL rather than the young children or teens. And the play experience probably isn't quite there as some pieces (like the front window/roof frame) don't actually connect so are easily separated with play.
There are a number of nice features, printed pieces rather than stickers is the number one best feature! I loath stickers.
This set certainly makes a nice display piece, not so much a play piece. "

Where do I put it now?
" The build took longer than I expected and was no where near as repetitive as I had originally feared.
There are many clever building techniques used in this model. The folding trap door ladder is probably one of my favorites. The newish pieces for potion/bottle lids are brilliant.
It does have one of my biggest bugbears, that being 1x1 pieces (plates or bricks) stacked on each other. Lining them up on new pieces can be a pain if you don't get them right the first time. The new pieces don't have that little bit of give for easy twisting..
I'm seriously considering a second, to modify, and have hinged off this one just to have a "complete" scene available model. Maybe if I can ever pick one up cheap off an auction site.
The only issue with it...It's big. This, the Super Star Destroyer, the Imperial shuttle, and any of the tall ship models are just a pain to display. "

Good but....
" Heck of an impressive set.
The overall scale leaves my other sets for dead, including the Death Star II and the Imperial Shuttle, unfortunately, my limited (to one room) display area is now going to be rather full.
The design was a little too repetitive but some of the construction techniques were very clever. The angled side walls connecting to the main body with 2x4 hinges was exceptionally clever and well thought out.
As with UCS it's not for play. I have mixed feeling about the minifigure bridge, I like it, and personally prefer it, but I can understand some people not.
As to the price, from the American Lego site the price was high but okay. From the Australian site, the extra $200 means that the auction site got my purchase. With the Australian dollar being high, there is no way to justify the increased price for Australia. Shipping isn't to blame, as the BNIB I purchased with shipping from the States was still less than Lego's US site.
