"This is a great rendition of Hogwarts Express, here is how to motorise and light it if you're interested!
I'm pleased to say it is really easy, here are the Powerfunctions parts required:
- Battery box (88000 batteries, or 8878+45517 for mains power) - 8884 IR Receiver - 88002 Train Motor - 8879 Controller - 8870 lights + 4 Pick A Brick parts as shown (optional) - Track!
Simply remove the wheel base from the engine tender, the black plate top of it and the fireplace from the engine.
The train motor becomes the base of the tender as shown. Re-add the 4 dark grey 2x1 bricks from the tender to the base to act as supports for the rest of the tender assembly. Also add the engine and passenger car couplings to the train motor. Place your battery box in the tender and the IR Receiver in the engine cab.
For the power, connect your IR Receiver to your battery box. Your IR Receiver has 2 ports, add the train motor's plug to one and the optional lights to the other.
You're good to go!"

Your train motor becomes the base for the tender. Also note the optional lighting wires going to the front of the engine along the side, very easy to fit

Remove the engine fireplace and controls to give more space for the IR Receiver and wires. The lights fit nice and easily down the sides of the engine to the front :)

Just 4 additional Pick A Brick pieces needed to mount the lights!
"This is truly a terrific set, so well designed but its missing the small turrets on the main tower... I've had a look through Pick-a-Brick and with the extra pieces shown I've fixed this, enjoy!"

"This is such a truly great rendition of the X-Wing but in my opinion it has two crucial flaws, the cannons on the wings and the engines on the back are too short.
With a little look through Pick-a-Brick, with just a few additional parts (shown), you can transform the wing cannons and engines to how I've modified it!
It is a great set either way for sure, enjoy!"

Complete *additional* parts needed, you can re-use the 4 1x2 bow pieces (making 4 of the 8 needed) and 4 1x2 grill tiles by removing the spring loaded missile launchers. Add round bricks between the barrel and 'radar dish' on each engine to lengthen
