Excellent Play Value
" I ran out and bought the RC Tracked Racer on the first day it was available.
This is by far the smallest Lego set (by piece count) that I've purchased to date. I normally prefer larger sets with longer build times but expected this set to have and abundance of play value.
As I had expected the build went very quickly and took only about 2 hours to complete. It wasn't complicated thanks to the clear instructions.
Once completed this vehicle is tons of fun to drive around. For me this set has more play than build value. It drives very well on carpet but is harder to control on smooth surfaces such as hardwood, linoleum or tile flooring due to it's increased responsiveness.
This set would make an excellent gift for any child that likes to drive remote cars. My only warning is that you'd best buy rechargeable batteries as I expect this is one toy that will be played with a lot and you'll be recharging those batteries often! "

Another Great Train Set
" This is my second Lego train set. The first being the Cargo Train (60052). This set can easily be built in a day but I stretched it out over three days so as to spread out the fun. With the build being split into six parts it can easily be done by multiple people concurrently. The biggest part is building the engine.
Prior to buying this set I had read several reviews expressing problems with engine - being too slow or going off the tracks - so I was prepared for some problems. Happily I found none of these things to be a problem. My experience with the train is that it runs perfectly fine. It's neither too slow nor does it derail.
I've tried running the engine with all of the rail cars as well as on it's own at full speed on track that has many curves and straightaways. The engine on it's own runs at what seems to be pretty close to the maximum speed that it could before derailing. With all of the rail cars (3) connected to the engine it still runs nearly as fast as on it's own. I'm using 750mAh AAA Eneloop rechargeable batteries to power the train.
I can't help but wonder if the problems that people have expressed with the train being slow are due to the wheels being pressed tight against the train body instead of being lose enough to move freely or possibly just bad batteries.
This engine is not quite as fast as the Cargo Train (60052) however that engine on it's own on the same track will derail at top speed in some corners. With rail cars attached however it won't derail even at top speed.
I bought a second train set for both the train and the additional track. I also wanted to get this set before it was retired. I think this is an excellent train set and would definitely recommend it as either a first or additional train set.
With regards to train track, I would very much like to see Lego sell track in packages containing only a single type of track (straight, curved, flexible curved, switching) so customers can buy just the type(s) of track that they want. "
