Figures and parts.
" As an adult fan, this set is a mixed bag. When I buy sets, I am concerned with primarily good figures and useful/unique parts.
This set hit a home run with the Scuba Iron Man figure who I needed to help complete my hall of armor. Sadly, I do not feel the same way about the other figures. Maybe I would have more love for them if I watched the show, but out of context they just do not have the appeal or flair of some other figures (ex. Scuba Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Vision). The Henchman and Captain America are specifically designed for being underwater, which while accurate to the scene, gives them very little versatility. I don't really mind this too much with Cap since there have been quite a few generic ones released already, but with the henchmen it feels like a missed opportunity to army build. Iron Skull definitely has great printing, but feels lacking without either a Iron man style helmet or hat. If Skull had a nice black and red helmet piece I feel he would have been amazing and given this set much more desirability. Because of this, the henchmen, Cap and Hydra have already been shuffled off to storage, while Suba Iron Man is proudly on display.
The build of the set utilizes some nifty building techniques with a discrete integration of technic supports to make it extremely sturdy. However, the parts included are very generic I feel and give little inspiration to rebuild. The prison doors in trans red are neat looking and definitely reusable. The use of plane wings for the mouth was a nice piece use and something I did not have before in that color. The rest though feel generic and nothing stood out as being incredibly useful. However I will say the set makes up for uniqueness of parts with quantity.
In hindsight, I feel that I bought this set for Scuba Iron Man. Excluding him, the rest of the set feels mediocre in a sea of amazing sets. Kids with small collections will likely love the playability of the ship and figs, but to children with already larger collections there may be more enticing sets out there. Lego has some amazing sets at this size to choose from, and I would strongly consider the ones listed below first. "

Awesome build and value.
" This set is on some heavy discounts, which is what spurred me to purchase a set outside of the usual super heroes and star wars lines. I think Ninjago does not get enough love from the adult fan community simply because it is not licensed. Ninjago in general has consistently given us some amazing builds, unique pieces, and great value even at MSRP.
This set is no exception. There are quite a few unique parts and colors that I can not wait to incorporate into my own builds. While some feel that unique parts or colors limit possibilities, I feel it challenges me to expand my range of building. There is a gold pieces that connects the shurikens that, while not meant to be a piece, will be a great decoration part. In addition, the ways they build the mechs provides great instruction for how to add stability to my own. Previously I had always had trouble with waist articulation, but they have found a novel and effective way to solve this.
The builds are highly detailed, and will look great on display. The little harpoon works perfectly in this instance. There have been cases in other sets where they have had trouble, but I have found it to be a great play feature, even for me as an adult.
The con is how stiff the translucent pieces can be. The heads stick to their head pieces with too much clutch power. The female ghost I can not remove her head from her hat at all. I feel like Zanes mech could have used a little more detail in the back, but I can forgive this considering the parts count, and it is nowhere near as sparse as the back of the giant Ant Man fig.
Pros
Great Build
Great parts in unique colors
Great value
Great techniques used in the build to learn from
Great harpoon
Cons
Heads stick to hats
No knee articulation
Few back details for Zane's mech

Best Value of the Summer ’12 Line
" This is the set to get this summer. This is the only one of the Star War sets this summer I feel is reasonably priced at about 12 cents apiece. That’s no bargain, but is has quite a few large pieces for a small set and four figures.
The most prominent feature of this set is the nicely designed minifigures. T____ is exclusive to this set and is a good addition to the bounty hunter styled figures. His face and body are well designed, my only complaint would be his legs could have had some printing on them. Luke is a common figure, but his front printing is very accurate to the movie (a big improvement over the old version). This is a good way to get the older, trained jedi Luke in a cheaper set. Lando is an amazing figure that hasn’t appeared very often in the past few years and to get him in a cheap set in his bounty hunter uniform is great. The headpiece is very well designed and highly accurate to the film. Boba Fett is a favorite among Star Wars fans and collectors, so that Lego would put him in a cheap is a nice surprise to me. Usually figures like him from Star Wars (like Darth Vader or Queen Amadala) are used to pull people into buying the larger sets. This Boba is redesigned with all the bells and whistles with leg and foot printing, back printing, a new cape and a sprinkling of dents and dings designed in to give him a rugged look.
The Sarlac Pit is simple, but nice that it was included with the ability to put a figure inside it. This pit wouldn’t be hard to make larger with the help of a few pick a brick pieces.
The ship has quite a few playable features for a small ship and a vast improvement over the six-dollar old version. The plank that can flip out is simple, but I’m glad it doesn’t just stick out without the retractable feature it could have been. The middle storage place for guns is a nice touch, probably and extra thing thrown in as it was made. The sides “wings” are adjustable for those who wish to modify its look a little. The build is quicker than most twenty-five dollar sets because of the bigger pieces. In terms of parts this is a good set for large MOCs needing brown or tan pieces, but little kids might have difficulty finding uses for the parts.
Great set, good price and well designed figures that include some prominent characters.

A suprise in many ways.
" If you arnt worried about price skip this paragraph.
The summer sets for Star Wars were saving this one last for a reason. This summers set set a new high in price by topping in at over 14 cents a piece. This set comes in at a whopping 21 cents a piece. Most other Lego sets come in at a reasonable 9 to 12 cents a piece. There arent even any large pieces or animals to justify this price.
You are given a decent amount of mini models that are mostly from Star War I so the Phantom Menace lovers may like this set. I have to stay positive or this review wont get through.
The minifigures fit the winter season by being themed around the beginning of the Empire Strikes Back. While this is a good way to get older figures, they are not any we havn't seen before besides the specials. Kids might find the snowman R2 and Santa Maul funny but I dont. Just give me the real deal.
Overall I am flabbergasted by this set, please check out the other wonderful, economical Lego series. Desert Skiff is decently priced.
Best, "

Great set, bad price.
" The only thing about this set I didn't like is the price. If money isn't an option for you then go ahead and get this set. If it is, then you can get more for your money from other lego sets. Revisit older generations of Star Wars sets or a different series like Lord of the Rings. The new Star Wars line up are priced for what they think they can get away with, not what is an appropriate value. If this set was $20 less I would of loved it.
Just looking at the set itself:
This ship is packed with amazing features. The wings can be expanded or contracted via two pins in the cargo room of the ship. Speaking of which, there is a cargo bay in the back that can easily fit the two trooper and weapons. The cockpit can only fit one figure but is very detailed with a moving control panel. Both doors open forwards and top. The back half of the wings (top and bottom) open up for a nice effect looking more like the TIE fighters. There are some good looking flick fire missiles that are similar to the rocket launcher in the snow trooper battle pack.
The minifigures are very well designed front and back. Darth Malgus has a newly designed chest piece and cape (great cape, best I've seen from Lego). He looks like a real leader of the dark side and would make any Lego fights become more "epic". The Troopers have greatly designed helmets all around. I pray that Lego comes out with a battle pack of four of these guys.
Great set, but very over priced. Best Star Wars ship this year. "

Display set.
" For those of you who love these mini set designs this is definitely the one to buy of this series. Sebulba is a fairly rare character and cool to have (good alternative to the 90 pod-racer set). Neat design and very detailed minifigure. However, the price is fairly steep for these sets, somewhere between $6-8 would have been better.
Pros
Best figure of the three sets. Worth having.
Neat little display set for your room or office.
Cons
Price is too high.
The planet is useless and probably what's driving the price up. No use or need for it.

Good set for parts.
" This sets obvious main quality is Kai DX. The color and design is nice, red really exemplifies a true leader. I'm not crazy about having multiples of red ninjas, but the design, cards and spinner make this an exception.
The weapons advertised in this set are quite good and rare. The double ended scythe is my favorite because of the multiple variations of weapon styles possible from it. Its not much more effective than the single ended scyth, although it does help balance out the spinner allowing for longer spin. Personally, I have found the double bladed scyth (blades on one end) as the best.
There are two "fire daggers" aka torches that are cool, redesigned without the dumb prongs that previously kept it from fitting into the holder (older builders hopefully know what I mean). The chain is on its own a bad weapon, but the parts are very good for alternative modeling. The handle is very useful and is only available in Ninjago and could be put to effective use. The sword is made of durable plastic and is quite beautiful. I personally cant bring myself to use it out of fear of damaging it.
The ax spinning thing is quite useless as is, but will provide you with more ax heads than you ever will need. A good source for a moderately rare part. The sandbag and mace are huge and only really useful for its intended purpose -- with is kinda boring. The poles however, are awesome for making weapons. For example, take the two brown four pronged ax holder parts and put them on the end of these poles. When fought with on a spinner they make a cool woosh noise and look when coming into contact with other weapons. As a weapon it's light, long, and very effective. Try it.
The rest of the shrine is beautiful, but mostly cosmetic as is. Nice pieces including a rotational piece, which would be good as a turret. The poles are honestly a best kept secret of lego. These can be made into some awesome rocket launchers, or sci-fy weaponry. The gold bars are not like the ones found in Pirates of the Caribbean, just standard 2x1 smooth pieces. However, they are properly chome gold colored. PS this is more like fools gold color.
Cool cards if you are into collecting them, they are not my area of expertise so I'll not embarrass myself trying to explain them.
Overall a very good set for parts, to the older Lego enthusiasts you will find much potential in it. Kids may find this a little less interesting if they are only after its intended build.
Thank you. "

Pure Quality!
" The minifigure collections have progressively increased in quality every series. The original series was very hesitant to experiment with new designs and pieces, but now they are designing new pieces and coloring designs. For example, the Gladiaor has printing on his sides, including shoulder armor and boots. The Lumberjack has plaid stripes on his arms back and front -- great attention to detail.
I have bought: Lumberjack, Gladiator, Dwarf, Workout girl, British guard, Cave Girl and Dino suit guy. Personal favorites would be Dino suit guy and British guard. I would avoid the workout girl -- copy of season 2 singer.

Worth it... surprisingly.
" At first the idea of paying so much for a single figure, 3 weapons and 1 gimmick did not look appealing at all. After trying it however, one realizes the value of the set is not in the piece count, but in gameplay. The primary thing done with figures of all series or sets is fight them, this provides a very well constructed way of doing so.
As for this individual set the character is very unique compared to previous series. The headpiece is quite impressive.
The weapons are good and bad. The gold, double bladed ax is what sold me on this particular set, and it did not disappoint. The sword is a sword, nothing we haven't seen in previous ninjango sets. The chain is pointless as it is, but put a handle on both ends and put two ax heads at the end on one end. You have a device of destruction then.
By two spinners and get the rest of the characters in the sets, that would the best value for your money. "
