"First of all, for those of you throwing around the term ‘art deco’, well this building isn’t art deco. Take a look at the Chrysler building in NYC or some of the buildings in South Beach. That’s art deco. This is nothing more than mid-century kitsch. Art deco is more than a curved facade or a garish inverted ‘U’. The building itself appears to have been designed by three different ‘designers’. The lower level seeking to be some version of modern design, the tasteless inverted ‘U’ and the upper level that looks more like earlier (and better) modular designs.
I couldn’t care less about the faces on the mini-figs. What I do care about is that a theme originally designed for adult collectors has turned into a main line children's oriented product. If you can still get a Palace Cinema, grab it. The Palace Cinema is the last of the true adult oriented modulars before the theme was turned over to the kids.
I’ll give it two stars just because it keeps the modular theme going. On life support, maybe....but there’s always hope we can get back on track with future buildings that look more the first five in this series."
"Arrived today and I just started the build. Very interesting build. More detail than I've ever seen, which is a good thing. Too bad this amount of effort isn't put into the modular building series. This set is approximately 20% larger than the largest modluar building. And, it dwarfs any architecture set. This is a really neat set but, in the bigger picture, it's disappointing this size of set wasn't a modular school, hospital, police station or one of a dozen other modular building possibilities. We can always hope, I suppose......"
"Solid, if not spectacular. Or, 'awesome' as you millenials refer to everything more appealing than a dead racoon. Seriously, this is a well thought out set that fits the theme at a reasonable price. Not super challenging (but what Leog set is?) however it provides a logical continuation of this theme. Thanks, Lego!"
"Nice upgrade from the earlier version. Captures spirit of the building and the architect's vision. Ideal size for a builidng in this series. Detail without reaching a level of repetitiveness and boredom."
"Nice, easy build that fits in well with the rest of this series. Most structures, like this one, are probably best done in this scale and piece count. Anything larger would be far too repetitive of a build."
