Classic 1950s America
" The Downtown Diner is one of the most fascinating building experiences I've had. When I first saw this set two years ago, I was heavily turned off by it's style & colour, especially the shades of pink. But over time as I've viewed it more often (and since purchasing and completing the Diner) I have become incredibly fond of the structure. There's plenty of side-building techniques -almost everywhere on the front exterior. It has both an intriguing style and design: the spiral staircase 'round the back; the windows that just slot in; the pink lettering; and of course the white/pink/teal barrier that runs from the far right of the building around to the back stairway. As always with the modulars, I'm impressed with the little details included in the set: The juke box, the gum machine, the water-cooler etc. The car, clearly mirroring a Cadillac of some description looks great and better still it's able to hold up to three minifigures. Most unusual for a six-stud-wide car. The minifigures are very suitable to the whole theme - very 'Grease' like. Overall, the layout of the building with its interior & exterior colour, design and shape makes this a fine & authentic Lego set. "

" Probably one of the best Lego hospital sets in years. It's not often Lego produces medical sets, even back in the heyday of the 1980s and 1990s they were few and far between. This is a decent sized building crammed with plenty of accessories & equipment. But the most striking part of the set isn't just the amount of accessories plus emergency vehicles, but the high quantity of minifigures included: Four doctors, two medics and five patients. The variety is impressive and the detail is exquisite. Personally, I'd recommend modifying the layout of the hospital onto a baseplate for better access & play. Overall this is a great set. "

The Great Outdoors
" This set has an extremely good level of quality in both design & style of mini-figures and added accessories. The selection of interesting characters reflects a wide spectrum of age and quirky personalities: For instance, the selfie-stick man is a familiar stereotype of a typical suburban tourist; a teenage girl gripped to her mobile phone; Mr Proud Dad carrying his newborn; and of course not forgetting your fearless mountain bike rider, climber and outdoor photographer. But the best elements of the set by far are the new printed egg piece, and my personal favourite, the majestic duel-molded eagle: This really is a beautifully crafted model. The only thing missing is a dog - the great outdoors, and no dog walker?
My main disappointment is the standard RRP: £35 seems just too high for the amount available. A pity, given the superb quality on offer. This is a set well worth purchasing to add to your Lego collections - especially if you can find it at a discounted price.

She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
" An extremely articulate, authentic build & design. Just like the Expert Creator series, the Fishing Store ideas line has enormous quantities of small pieces: part of this is for the exterior "wooden planks" and the other part being for tools & mini-figure shop accessories (scuba diving & fishing equipment etc.) I can't emphasise enough at just how many little detailed accessories you receive- fish, lobsters, seagulls, helmets, TNT,"hooks", rods, maps, harpoons- it's endless. The set uses some printed pieces, with only a few stickers. There's excellent access to the building which includes a swinging opening wall on the back of the shop for better access - A real bonus as this is something you don't have on the Expert modular buildings. I would've preferred access into the raised platform that the tower section sits on, otherwise I'm struggling to find anything poor about this product. This is undoubtedly a highly photogenic Lego model, a great set all 'round. "

"Heart of oak are our ships..."
" Destiny's Bounty has the appearance of an old gentle fisherman's boat. The lanterns, herbs and fish give it quite a misleading impression. However, this is very much a ship of battle. It may not carry any canons, but it has an enormous amount of weaponry on board: In the training room; In hidden compartments; Armour by the toilet and even Wu has a set of daggers and a giant sword by his bedside - I guess you can never be too safe. I think it's highly amusing that Lego supplies more than enough weaponry to conquer half of Indo-China, yet there's only one mug and teapot.
Wu's bed and the Dragon heads are great designs. My favourite room is the 'Training room' if you can call it that. All the little details really make this ship stand out: letter, photo, red-tinted lanterns, exterior colours etc, It's marvelous to see this style of build expand into the ninjago theme, a quality that is usually familiar with the creator expert line.
Overall it's a wonderful ship, enjoyable to build throughout. More like this would be much welcome.

Quality Design
" This is my first Lego architecture line (a gift from a close relative), and as a Brit I'm jolly pleased to have received a cityscape of London.
The design is a smart, delicate, well thought-through build to a Lego architecture set. The shapes and subtle colour schemes of the miniature buildings balance with each other perfectly. To achieve such detail on a remarkably small-scale is very impressive.
Whilst the majority of the build was relatively straight forward, I found the building of the London Eye to be most tricky in terms of achieving symmetry with the 'pods' around the wheel. It's a clever design but the wheel does tend to wobble around a lot if being moved. But as it's a display piece I don't think this really matters.
It's worth remembering though, that although this set is designed for observation rather than 'play', the build can be dismantled at your discretion so you can make other things with the available bricks - it is Lego after all!
In conclusion this is a wonderful, impressively splendid model perfect for display. "

Great vehicle designs. Shame about the Stickers..
" This set is a great, useful accompaniment to a Lego city or street scene (for adults who own modular builds aswell as children). Both road vehicles are good-looking yet simple in design. The sports car has a sleek style that I think is rather impressive. I'd prefer to have had car doors attached, but this isn't a big issue. But I do have a bigger issue in the amount of stickers needed. I can't believe young children really acquire much fun in putting stickers on their Lego, especially if they're struggling to get them on to look professional. I had an enormous dislike of attaching stickers on toys when I was eight-& ten-years-old, let alone as a grown-up.
In regards to sitting a mini-fig in the open centre space of the helicopter (or the difficulty of it), I've realised that one can open up the engine & tail / roof section as one piece relatively easily and put the figure in the slightly enclosed, far-end space. That way, they're not having to sit slightly awkwardly in the middle open area. Of course, you'll never actually be able to see them once you reattach the roof piece. Apart from that, I think the helicopter is both authentic and aesthetically pleasing in its overall look.
There is just one further point of note that I think needs addressing, and it's not just specific to this set, but to other Lego sets I have acquired recently. The hair & hat pieces that sit on the mini-figures head don't really connect properly. They fall off relatively easily. You cannot turn a mini-figs head left or right without easily removing (or knocking off) the hair/hat piece. In fact, you can't even pick-up a mini fig off studs without easily removing their hair/hat piece only. This is incredibly frustrating! I've noticed this on all the mini figs from the City, Creator 3 in 1 and Expert lines. No one else seems to be mentioning this. Having had much experience with handling and playing with Lego during the 1990s, I never had (and still don't have) any difficulties with adjusting the mini fig heads with their hair/hat pieces still attached from that period of time. Lego should address this. Thank you. "

Man and his dog
" This 4x4 off-road vehicle is enormous! It's a bit of a tank in it's size (relative to mini-figures). But it is also fantastically versatile. The wheels can be adjusted to various heights, the boot opens with cargo that can be moved around or changed and the amount of studs on the car mean you can place the variety of tools in different places on the external body. There is of course the string & hook that can be extended or retracted using the large tyre on the bonnet. Plenty there to have fun with. Sadly, I'm not convinced with the other two builds: the outside observation area and the helicopter - these two look sub-par. But it is worth buying just for the car. I'm impressed with its structure and its size. Fitting the mini-figure in his seat without breaking any of the canopy Lego pieces around him requires some patience, but that's my only issue with this 4x4. The dog is also a great little addition. This set wouldn't be the same without it. "

I'm opening a savings account with the Brick bank.
" A high quality, spacious Lego building design with plenty of authentic detail. The exterior style, the vault design, the laundrette and its 'money laundering' connection to the bank are all great features. But it's the little things that make the modulars very special: the outside clock is an exquisite piece of Lego, along with the floor tilling to the bank and the laundrette. The unusual sculptural design above the bank doors (I'm not sure what it's supposed to be?) as well as the washing machines are marvelous to observe. I especially like the top floor sky light. The whole structure was a satisfying build, but it's also just a joy to look at. In terms of play: I'm a 'grown-up' so I don't really do that, but it's a lot less difficult to move mini figures around in because theres' so much more open space for my large hands (unlike the Detectives office, which was more tricky), and this makes a big difference for me. I would strongly urge Lego to take this into account with future modulars. An all-round superb piece of Lego. "

My first substantial Lego set in 18 years.
" This is a marvelous Lego set. I received the Detectives Office with the Brick Bank during the Christmas period. It was fascinating to compare the structures. I think that The Highlander (the pool club) is my personal favourite room of the set. It's also the most spacious. The floor design is exquisite, along with the pool table and overhead fan! Great details. The Office for Ace Brickman is packed with superb little features: his desk, the guest chair, the fan, hat-stand, locker. His lamp is incredibly authentic, but I keep knocking it over with my hand! Al's Barbershop has a wonderful colour scheme to it, but really difficult to access in a pragmatic sense: uber-high walls and a narrow room. The toilet on the floor above is also designed and placed perfectly.
The roof was a crazy construction, in a good way. It has quite a strange build technique. Quite bizarre, but looks good. Likewise the water tower: a peculiar contraption to build, but does look genuine. I had good fun with that.
All-in-all, a really great, fascinating set that I can't recommend highly enough! "
