A very versatile set
" I found Robot Inventor a real improvement on NXT and EV3, with a slimmed down hub and motors and with many pieces to expand the range of activities of the five robots you can build.
I've only built one of the five so far: "Charlie". I take my time in building Lego sets because I find the activity both absorbing and relaxing. The on-screen building instructions were clear and the programs for activities as you build very helpful to assure that what you had built was working properly. The further activities for "Charlie" once you had built him/it were excellent (I've uploaded five so far), and the drumming activity is especially attractive. The speed of movement provided by the motors is impressive, as are the lights on the hub for numbers and expressions.
The two robots with a face are "Charlie" and "Blast", with Gelo unique for its movements and the other two being things which interact with things. Once I've finished with "Charlie", I will want to build "Blast", but to do so, sadly, I have to dismantle the first in order to build the second. The movements of "Blast" that I have seen on videos remind me of "Robocop" in the two films with that title. Could be fun to build.
I think Lego MIndstorms has done a great job with this set (congratulations to the designers), and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have hands-on experience in robotics at a manageable and fun level. "

Great skyline model!
" I finally got round to buying this set and building it, and the final model does not disappoint. I went to Dubai in 2013 and went up to the viewing platform in the Burj Khalifa, which provided a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings. This Lego model has produced accurate and attractive small-brick representations of the real buildings, in my view, allowing, of course, for the limitations of such tiny skyline sets. However, the build was highly enjoyable, spending an hour or two over five days (I don't like rushing these things!), and the Burj Khalifa's height in the model struck me as conveying just how tall and striking a building the real thing is. I'm glad to have this skyline model on display in my flat, and I congratulate Lego for producing such a good set. Thank you! "

One of the best ...
" I spent a long time constructing this marvellous set, choosing to build it slowly and see the magnificent building taking shape bit by bit.
Without doubt, this is one of the best Lego designs I have ever come across, and I hope the designer of this set gets an award - he deserves it! Being a Londoner myself (but not now living there), this Tower Bridge model reminds me of my home city as it stretches over two small tables in my living room. And as other reviewers have said, it looks much better in reality than the photos suggest. The detail is superb, there's an element of functionality with moving drawbridge, and the London bus and small cars in particular give the model a dynamic 'feel'. Although the model in scale is not as proportionally wide as the true building is, none the less the effect of the model is not reduced - it is recognisably London Tower Bridge, with no mistake!
The build was challenging, in that one needed an eye for detail, a steady hand, nimble fingers and a large dose of patience. But the end result was so impressive - one of the most detailed and realistic models Lego have produced.
I'm a big fan of 'real world' buildings being modelled by Lego, so could I please ask for a New York City set: either the iconic Empire State Building or the beautiful Chrysler Building? Both would look superb given the 'full Lego treatment' (i.e. in large scale and with plenty of detail). I hope those in the Lego design team will take note of my suggestion - you'd have at least one purchaser for such a set (and thousands more, I'm sure).
My congratulations to Lego once agan for producing such a set of quality. Well done! "

An iconic model
" I enjoyed building the set a great deal, and am still admiring the detail and size of this model - just right for display on one's desk.
The idea of making a Shuttle model for 2010 was inspired, particularly as this current year is scheduled to be the final year of the real NASA Shuttle. The size and functionality of the model were impressive: it was neither too big nor too small, and the retractable wheels and opening body for the satellite were well designed and functioned well.
Perhaps the only (minor) flaws for me were the small base (I added a large grey baseplate, upon which I placed the small base and Shuttle, which now look better) and the Lego mini-figures. For a 16+ model, do older builders really need to have the somewhat infantile figures? The Shuttle model on my table is without the figures and other included 'extras', and (to my mind) stands as a worthy model on its own without them.
All in all, though, a very satisfactory design, beautiful to look at, and at a reasonable price. Once again, well done, Lego! "

A 'good buy' to say 'hello' to
" This second NXT2.0 robotics set from Lego is an improvement on the previous set (which was very good), with a better Alpha Rex model and a better palette of instructions for programming. It's both educational and fun to use, and the Mindstorms community is a real asset, providing new models for those who want to expand their repertoire. Although this set is intended for a younger audience (teenager-plus), it's also a great set for older people who want an introduction to robotics. I heartily recommend this set to young and old alike, and look forward to a third robotics set in the future. Well done, Lego! "
