Brilliant Idea and Design w/ Great Play Experience
" This set is marvelous. It was a gift for my 10 year old son. He, and everyone else in the family, love it. He enjoyed the build experience, especially the mechanisms to tilt the game board. The built game is quite sturdy and really fun and challenging to play. I can't understand why the set has already been flagged as being retired soon???? It would be nice if both mazes could be built at the same time; it wouldn't add many parts to the set. When you build it, make sure to press all of the tiles down firmly to avoid any slightly raised surfaces on the board. This leads me to one play issue... The balls are not perfectly round. There are two small holes at the poles which create flat spots that prevent the ball from rolling freely and predictably. This can be very frustrating while playing. Of course, other similar sized balls (e.g. marbles) can also be used, but you'd think Lego could make a round ball. The only other complaint that I have is an old pet peeve of mine. The box that the set comes in is (just barely) too small for the built set to fit in. This drives me nuts. I'd like to be able to store the built set in its original box, and not have to tear it down. For many sets this is not practical, but for this one it certainly is and it seems like a no-brainer, since this set is intended to be played with as a game. If you remove one of the wheels (not hard to do), it nearly fits in the box, but not quite. Lego really should do a better job of sizing their set boxes relative to the built model, not just the parts. Please don't retire this set! "

Another amazing Technic set
" I am a life long Lego enthusiast and my 9-year-old son is following in my footsteps. This set was for his 9th birthday and he was able to build it almost entirely by himself, which gives me mixed feelings; super proud of my son, but bummed that I didn't get to build it myself. The complexity of these Technic sets never ceases to amaze me. I can't even imagine how the geniuses in Bilund are able to design these things. Last year I gave him set 8043 (the Motorized Excavator), which I got to help him a bit on. I had that set stashed away for a couple of years, since I knew it would be retired before he was old enough. Had I never seen that set, I would have given this one a 5 star (or brick) review, but the excavator set has way more motorized and remote controlled features, so in comparison to that, I only gave this one 4 stars/bricks. There are several YouTube videos showing this set enhanced with additional motorized features, so we'll probably start working on that soon. On this set the tracks do not operate independently so it can only drive forward or reverse. We'll be working on that as well. The motorized pulley system on this set is really cool, and the claw is really well done, and it will be even better once it is motorized as well. The switching mechanism that allows one motor to do so many things is a marvel of mechanical engineering. We can't wait for our next big Technic experience. "

Exquisite / Ausgezeichnet
" Wow. As the son of a native Berliner and an American soldier stationed in Berlin during the building of The Wall, I've been waiting for this one, and it does not disappoint. The detail is amazing for its scale. "
