"When I saw pictures of this set, I thought it was neat but not something I wanted to buy. After some time, though, I decided to make the purchase and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this set. There are plenty of useful pieces, like four universal joints, two small linear actuators, some panel pieces and treads.
The lack of a gearbox was disappointing at first, but the end result proved to be rather fun even without it.
If you are new to technic, I think you will especially enjoy this set."
"I don’t know why this build took me so long, but I am glad it did. The price-to-part ratio is fantastic! No complaints there. The build was unique and rewarding. Felt like the building experience was taken into consideration when the designer was building it because so many things were unexpected and fun.
The end result is a sight to behold. As always with technic sets, as you are building test the functions to make sure it was built properly. The crane worked great. I was very surprised to see just how high the boom reaches (close to the height of the Lego Ideas Saturn V rocket).
Playability is fantastic. Appearances are great! I could see lego charging more for this as is... but I am glad they didn’t (feels like it could have easily been a $120 set, so at $100 it’s a great value). The range of parts are exceptionally well and great for building your own designs.
If you are new to technic, though this might be a bit challenging, I think it will be more fun than anything."
"Let’s get it out of the way first, but it is not completely accurate. Okay, acknowledging that, this was such a fun building process! The end result is something to be pleased with for sure. The angles of the panels and the building techniques to accomplish those were new to me.
The gearbox is very compact and works flawlessly. I am amazed at the design of it.
If you’re looking for a refreshing build and a great looking model, this is it!
Side note: I think had the size and price increased it could have been more accurate but this is nice. Even includes the racing stand."
"This was my first Technic build and it did not disappoint. I had originally wanted the technic Osprey that came out around my birthday, but when I heard it was cancelled I didn't know what else to ask for. My wife knew I was just getting into technic and surprised me with this.
The build, at times, was a bit repetitive, but that is not the fault of the designer as the real thing actually has four legs that are built nearly identical.
The build experience was enjoyable. One of the things I really enjoyed was how it is built in the compact form and then, at the end, you unfold everything for the first time and really get a sense of how big this model is. This build actually converted me to technic.
The lack of a gearbox is a bit of a downer, but there is plenty of room to customize. My favorite thing is the range of parts (great for even just parts). Overall, it is a very fun set to play with, and the building experience is great for beginners or for those who are new to technic."
