the motor is the best
" I love this motor!!! far surpases the old RCX motors and is fun to use! it is great for making almost any robot. Although it is a little cumbersom, it is only because of the gearing inside. I love this motor and it is the best lego motor yet. "

better than old one
" This is better than the old sensor from the RCX kit but needs some improvement. It could be MUCH more sensative, like being able to detect how far it is being pushed in. another improvement would be to not have to be pushed all the way in because that way it would be much easier to detect actual touch instead of if it is just pushed in or not. Best Technic I Have Ever Bought
" This set is amazing!!! I love the all the parts (including almost 50 gears!!!). there is so much to like and so many realistic features! there are three linear actuators (more than any other set to date). it also has 5 of the rare and sought after u-joints, adding another plus to this set's already 10* record. Get this set and you will not be unhappy. It is also fun to add pf and move the bucket up and down, but don't even bother with the m-motor, it just doesn't have the umph to get the job done so just use the xl-motor and have fun! "

This Set Rocks!!!
" This is a great set! it was so much fun to build and i loved the pneumatics! oh and did i metion that this set comes with pnumatics which are so much fun? This is one of the best lego sets i have bought in my life second only to the Lego Technic Front Loader, and my Mindstorms NXT. If you want pneumatics then get this set right away! an added feature is that you can motorize the pumping! although i did not do that because i do not have a lego clutch gear, i still loved having the extra parts. This is a great set well built and thoroghly thought through, and i would definately buy it again if i could. "

LEGO MINDSTORMS - Infrared Link Sensor
LEGO MINDSTORMS - Infrared Link Sensor
Enhance your LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT creations with an Infrared Link Sensor! With 3 NXT-G blocks, you'll be able to build robots that can communicate with other devices, including the MINDSTORMS RCX, LEGO IR remote-controlled trains, and LEGO Power Functions motors. Includes 1 Infrared Link Sensor. Does not include connector cable. This is the individual component, and does not include the NXT Intelligent Brick, software or any accessories. It requires the complete LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT set (#8527 or #8547) for use.

One of the Best Lego Sensors!!!
" I got this sensor for Christmas and have not been disapointed yet. It is a little tricky to get the NXT-G block instaled on my computer but now that i have it has not let me down. It frees up my NXT motors to do other things and lets me make progects without even using my servos! I have had it for a while now, and certainly would have asked for it again for Christmas anytime! Rather Weak
" I got two of these motors for Christmas and they were not what i expected. Although they may be strong for their size, it is still not that great strengh wise. However it is very fast so it gives you the option to gear it down for more power (which is exactly what I did). another pro is that you can run up two four of them from a single battery box. I will say that is much easier to intagrate into studed creations because it has a small base that can fit onto studs. I will now do a motor comparison for your benifit. M-motor vs. XL-motor. The xl-motor is way better for big creations and if you are going to buy a pf motor or two, then spend the extra two bucks and get some real pf power. M-motor vs. NXT Servo Motor. There is no comparison whatsoever. hands down the nxt servo has better performance, but the price may be the deciding factor for you. here are the numbers: NXT Servo Motor: $20 vs. PF M-Motor $7.50. The price for power: NXT Brick: $150 vs. PF Battery Box: $7. For rechargeable cababilities: NXT Brick: $150, NXT Rechargeable Battery: $55, NXT Rechargeable Battery Transformer: $24 vs. PF Rechargeable Battery Box: $50. There are the numbers, use them to your advantage, but in my opinion, if you are going to buy a PF motor, get the XL-motor every time, because the M-Motor just doesn't cut it for power and tourqe. "

Pretty Powerful
" This XL-motor is quite strong and can easily drive a lego car without trouble. I enjoy using it, and it is much MUCH stronger than its smaller weaker counterpart, the M-motor. With the m-motor i am always afraid of breaking it if i don't gear it at all, but with th XL-Motor i am never worried about burning out. But as with most things you have to comprmise on somthing. To get more power you compensate on the ammount of motors that you can run from the same battery box. with the m-motors you can run 4, but with the XL-motor you can only run 2. The motor you want may depend on the kind of legos you have. If you have say alot of bricks but very few technic pieces, then you should probably get the m-motor because it actualy has a bottom plate that allows it to be secured on bricks. On the other hand the xl-motor does not have this plate and you almost have to have some ammount of technic to be able to use it. I have both an NXT and pf stuff so i will give you a motor comparison. First the NXT motors are stronger, hands down. However the pf xl-motors are much smaller and easier to integrate into models. Also the NXT motor is faster and more precise. On the other side of the scale, the pf xl-motor is much cheaper, both to buy and to run, because you only need a battery box to run it. I closing i will say that the xl-motor is not as effective as the an NXT servo, it is WAY cheaper, and much smaller. "

Useful but heavy
" the pf battery box is very useful for making the pf motors run (duh). I have found that is is fairly easy to intagrate into my models. I have read reviews that say the batteries are hard to remove. in fact i have two battery boxes and there is only one battery that realy poses a problem. it is very close to the top of the box and is part way covered by plastic. having 6 AA batteries is kinda heavy, but after building with a mindstorms NXT you will realize that it is much smaller. I must say that its power consumption is INCREDIBLE!!! I have had one battery box since Christmas '09 and have not had to change the battterys once!!! although i dont use it every day, when i do it is a pretty long time before i turn it off. all in all it is much MUCH cheaper than the rechargeable battery box so if u r pressed for cash buy this, and big package of AA batteries and play away!!!
