A bridge too far?
" Lego has captured the skyline of San Francisco really well in this model - the steep street and cable cars, Alcatraz and the Trans-america pyramid building are especially good. I'm not so sure about the Golden Gate bridge though; I understand the designer has tried to present a 3 dimensional view of the bridge two dimensionally by using some forced perspective, and it works to a degree from an angle (but obviously not face on when it looks odd). I guess had the bridge been a conventional design (like Tower bridge in the London skyline) the model have been even longer (to be realistic), but then it would have been out of kilter with other sets in the skyline series. Nonetheless, a very aesthetic looking model.

Pay attention 007
" This model is stunning - Q would have been proud. The detailing is exquisite from the chrome bumpers and front grille to the wheel hubs and engine bay. The retracting roof and ejector seat is so clever and impressive in itself, but there's so much playability too with the revolving number plates and front headlamps/guns, bullet proof shield, hidden telephone and dashboard radar. The build is quite intricate and does require attention as I found I made a few mistakes along the way, but the end model is sturdy and beautiful to look at. Let's hope we get to see Lego make the Lotus Espirit from the Spy Who Loved Me in the future!

Excellent bar facial features
" This is an excellent model but the face (or lack of) lets this down slightly as already mentioned in previous reviews.
Just saw the face for the upcoming Ideas Voltron set, and the Lego build here would be ideal for lady Liberty. "

'We choose to go to the moon...'
" I was born in 1977, so post Apollo program. I can only imagine some of the excitement surrounding the USA's attempt to 'land a man on the moon and safely return him to the earth' before the end of the 60s. The first lunar landing is arguably mankind's greatest achievement, and a rare moment in time when the world was united for a brief moment as Neil Armstrong made his first tentative steps. This set is brilliant in scale and detail (even the number of pieces is 1969 - the year of the lunar landing). In building it I felt like I was being transported back in time and caught up in the excitement of an era in space exploration where anything seemed possible. It was a time when mankind dared to dream the impossible and make it a reality. Thank you to the designers of this set - you haven't just designed a beautiful model, but also recaptured a feeling in time.

Christmas came early!
" When I first saw this set on the website I couldn't wait for it to come out, although I was a little hesitant about the price. Being both a Lego AND Disney fan there was little doubt that I would eventually purchase it, but if I needed any convincing then seeing the completed model in the Lego store convinced me to buy it early on the VIP program. It really is an impressive model in terms of size and detail, and you really appreciate the complexity of the build during the making process (it took me 12 hours spread over 5 days). There are so many neat features - the references to various films (Frog and the Princess, Aladdin, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia, Tangled, Snow White, and Brave), the beautiful tiled flooring and columns/arches of the lower ground level, and the hidden enclosed glass slipper in its case and 'once upon a time' story book. The number of mini-figures is disappointingly low given the set's price tag, but if you have already purchased series one of the Lego Disney mini-figures, these easily fit in and enhance the model further. Tinkerbell can be made to fly over the castle by using elements ID 99785 (1x12/1x2 bar with end-plate end) and 15712 (plate 1x1 up-right clip) and is worth doing. This really is a fantastic set and Lego have done a brilliant job in recreating this iconic Magic Kingdom castle. Let's hope more iconic Disney buildings are to come in the future e.g. Epcot's Spaceship Earth?

Bellissimo
" This is a fantastic set in the Architecture series. It is beautiful to look at and really captures the grandeur of the fountain on a small scale - not an easy task when you consider how ornate the fountain is. I love the transparent light blue bricks for the water, and how the grey bricks nicely represent the rock work of the real fountain. Even the Lego take of the horses looks great, and the instruction booklet is as informative as usual when it comes to describing the history behind the fountain. Brilliant and perfect for anyone who has just visited the Eternal City and wants a memento of the fountain; I would go as far and say I prefer it to the many souvenir model fountains that are sold all around Rome.

Great set even without mini figures
" I bought this set for half the retail price but without the mini figures present. It's quite common practice for sellers to remove the mini figures as they're worth more separately, and sell the rest of the set at a knockdown price. This is fine if, like me, you value the play set itself more than the figures themselves, and have figures from previous sets e.g. Battle of Endor, Ewok Attack etc. to fill the void. The play set itself is beautiful to look at and fun to play with, and I'm really impressed by the attention to detail in this set e.g. the fireplace where Han Solo is 'cooked', the rising chair that C3P0 sits on, the poles where Luke is tied up, the net where Chewbacca is captured, the imperial troop helmets that are used as drums, the bridge where Luke tells Leia they're brother and sister, and so on. You do get a lot of mini figures in this set, and I do like the updated details in characters like Luke and the Imperial scout trooper. The Leia mini figure is unique to this set and quite an important figure to the storytelling in this set, so this figure I've had to buy separately at a high price for a mini figure. However having paid £100 for the set without any mini figures, I felt it was worth buying just this mini figure. At £199 this is an expensive set to buy, but you do get a wonderful play set and a lot of mini figures, and if you don't have other Lego Star Wars sets and therefore a mini figure base, probably worth the price tag. However if you have a mini figure collection already and don't mind having updated variants of the same characters, you could save yourself a bit of a fortune by just buying the play set on its own.

Mixed feelings with this one
" This is a good set if you don't have the original, which is so expensive to buy now. The minifigures are better and it's quite versatile. My main gripe though is the front end which doesn't have the authenticity of the original and should have been steeper and more faithful to the film (the front canon is a nice touch though). Usually the most upto date Lego sets tend to better the originals, but I'm not so sure about this one. It is also rather pricey too, and you have to purchase the skiff set separately for it to make sense, but overall it's worth buying if you're a big Star Wars fan and don't have the original set (and even deeper pockets to buy one!).
