This is the droid you're looking for.
" Good little model, complex shape but not difficult to build, and the end result is a pretty robust bit of kit. I found the build was fun and not too repetitive and the features are nifty little gadgets. It looks great next to the R2 UCS set from a few years back as well. Pretty good value for a Starwars set as well. Highly recommended for any UCS collector or Starwars fan. "

Don't get me wrong but....
" When I saw this set I was really excited. As an Aussie living abroad having something like this to display the most iconic building after the Sydney Harbour bridge in your home was hard to pass up. I really like a lot of things about this set but couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed with the overall value and build difficulty factor.
The good stuff. This set is big, like properly big and for that it is impressive, it has good likeness to the actual building but the sails look a bit clunky up close and that's just the limits of Lego. The model is fairly sturdy and can be moved with ease and the front third of the model can be disconnected with out any real disassembly. There are some nice little details like the lamp posts around the outside .
The disappointing parts: There are a lot of really large pieces used to make the majority of the model and while the building techniques are innovative and clever there weren't any really challenging steps. At the end of the day it was significantly more expensive and less fun to build than the tower bridge and has literally no functionality at the end of the build apart from being a display item. A possible way to improve it would have been some lift away panels and interior detail say for the main stage...but I would also guess that would add some serious $ to the already steep price tag.
All in all I would say there are better models to drop this kind of cash on but if you're looking for an impressive ornament this may be what you want. "

Awesome set...way too many stickers
" I didn't want to get this set at first but eventually I realised it looked pretty good, gave in and bought it, and was instantly glad I did!!!
The box doesn't make this model look all that exciting and the amount of stickers are a real downfall for this set. The good news is that the model still looks pretty decent with out them if you're like me and hate stickers.
The build was better than expected and the functionality of the model is quite simply awesome and very realistic. I also really liked how many large white pieces there were, they're kind of rare lately. The supplied power functions to drive the props, tailgate, landing gear and nose cone is great and well thought out, the props spin at a good speed and the cargo bay has pretty good space. The joystick on the tail moves both the elevator vanes on the tail and the ailerons on the wings and a second lever extends and retracts the wing flaps, just like the real deal.
Value for money is weighed down a little by the cost of the power functions but it still achieves a pretty good brick per $ multiplier and would be a disappointing set with out the PF's . Overall I was really pleased with this set and think it's brilliance was lost in the shadow of the equally awesome Volvo (42030). I hope there are more large planes like this in the future from Technic. "

Great set made awesome by the RC functions
" As soon as the pre-release images showed up for this set it was on the want list. It didn't disappoint! The weight of the box get's you first, this is a heavy set, the box is big and the flip lid with the extra graphics makes it even better.
First impressions opening the box were the size of the tires/wheels and the size of the bucket. They're huge! placed next to the 42009 crane they make it look underwhelming, which is hard to do. The other thing I loved was the single glue spine instruction set.
The build was excellent fun, not overly repetitive and you get to the good stuff like motors and actuators fairly early on and regularly in the build. There are a few complex steps to keep it interesting and overall the techniques are fairly standard. The motor orientation is not how you would expect going into the build either. The articulated steering system is really well designed and very sturdy.
The finished product looked great even without the stickers (8461 issues ruined stickers for me for life!!) and was great fun to drive around the house, not to mention big!! The details and overall design are great and the hinged access panels are a nice touch. I did have one gripe with this model and that is when the linear actuators reach their extension limits the motors have enough torque to skip the bevel gears. It sounds horrible, can't be good for gear life and would have been really easy to avoid by using the torque limited 24 tooth gears instead of standard fixed ones.
Overall I thought the set was good value for money considering the Power functions included, would have also been good to see a set of lights added to the set to finish off the details. All in all it is an awesome set and the sheer size and aesthetics of the completed set is stunning and worthy of the flagship status. Looking forward to the MB AROCS in mid 2015 "

Big Red
" Aesthetically pleasing particularly with the decals, and fairly good functionally with the winch and tip tray, independent suspension and operable doors and hood. The build was reasonably in complexity but no real mind bending steps. Value for money was pretty good in my opinion due to the suspension assembly and large number of body panels included as well.
Overall it's a fun set and looks good on display. "

Best Flagship Model to Date!!!
" This thing is a beast and then some. given the usual cost of the flagship models this is really good value for money. It's not only big but its packed full of technically advanced functions that really embodies what the Technic line is all about.
One thing I would have liked to have seen was an additional motor to serve the truck body, out riggers etc instead of the huge, inefficient drive trains that had to be used to do it all with just one motor. it would have added minimally to the cost of the set and made it function far better.
The build is really fun with lots of different techniques and far less repetitive than some of the larger models can be. Looking forward to integrating the Remote controls of the Volvo model into this beast.

Impressively Big
" I got this set on a whim and was surprised how much fun I had building it. The overall difficulty of the build is averages due more to size than complexity but it was also what made it fun. The small details like the engines viewing panel, life boats and the gold piece in the bow were a nice touch but the stickers add at least an hour to the build time and are really fidgety to place but add a certain amount of pride by making sure they're placed identically on the 80 odd container blocks. A few different containers colors and brands would have also added to the realism but still a pretty model none the less. "

Great Desk Ornament
" Really Enjoyed this model, and loved the details in the interior with the checker seats, folding front seats, dash and levers, the extras to stick in the boot and the visual of the finished product. Like a few others on here I agree there are a few things that could have been changed that would have completed the model perfectly. The steering wheel should have been changed to a smaller size, a rear view mirror and sun visors on the hinge plates used to hold the roof in place would have been a relatively inexpensive addition to finish the great details of the interior.
Overall an enjoyable build and really dense model that now sits on my desk and makes for an awesome ornament/paper weight. "
