Superb model
" Could not be better timed and goes well with my Saturn V, and fan created models of the launch tower and NASA crawler. Its a clever build with lots of interesting techniques like those on the Saturn V and makes a stunning display piece. I did have to rebuild the descent stage as I had it built at 90 degrees off so ladder didn't line up with the hatch. "

Fun with supurb detail, love it
" Built this in five or six sessions but hard to hold out working on this as detail evolved, some very clever building techniques and tons of accessories so the inside of the shop is a feast for the eye. One of my favourites and a real credit to original designer and Lego Making this. When your fitting out shop you may struggle if you have big fat fingers like me but not too bad if you take your time. The tiles used to clad the outside with ability to pose a few at angles add to the charm of this great set. Its also bigger than you think, almost like the modulars as it pretty much fills a 32x32 baseplate and is at least 20 bricks high. "

Nice set but pain to build, poorly organised parts
" When I opened this set was expecting the usual numbered bags, especially for a set of this size and complexity, was shocked to not find that. Then annoyed and frustrated as I began the build as the mix of parts in various bags made no sense at all, for instance there are four Technic beams used early on to make lifting part of bridge but these were in four separate bags. I build sets usually over at least several days and for a set like this a week or more, not possible this time as you had to open every bag and spread everything out in order to find the parts needed, it would have taken a lot of extra time to pack up after each stage so decided as it was for a display to build the set in one or two long sessions which is far from ideal. Fantastic fun
" Actually bought this to get some extra black track but had seen videos of it being played with and it seemed neat. A very simple build but loads of run to race around and actually a good idea to set motors up so that they drive tracks in opposite direction, thought I had made a mistake when building this but realised it must have been deliberate as its more fun. Its very fast, having only one speed, full on and only criticism would be that it needs some rubber cleats for the tracks as its great on carpet but skids around and slips on smooth surfaces. "

Great to look at but don't try to run it
" I enjoyed building this massive and intricate, complex Technic model but was very disappointed when I turned on motor to test all the moving parts. It really should have multiple motors as to expect all the moving parts to run from one is quite frankly ridiculous. Its also slightly unbalanced and needs a stronger central structure. I expected problems from the start and was careful to make sure all the interlinked gears worked freely as it progressed but to no avail as it required significant work to get it running smoothly on completion. Lots of Technic but from an operational, public display perspective very poor. It would have cost less to use more motors and reduce the complexity of the internal gearing, in contrast loved the Volvo wheel loader with twin remotes and four motors, this would have been amazing if designed that way. Amazing recreation of iconic space vehicle
" I've only finished the first stage and its very firmly my favourite Lego model of all time. Early childhood memory of watching a splashdown from moon mission on black and white tv in 1970's has led to lifelong interest in space program so this was a must have from when it was announced. It has however exceeded my expectations on all fronts. Its a delight to build as the details unfold, very strong and stable and a thing of beauty. I now need more space models and a gantry to display it one. Highly recommended to all space buffs. "

Clever, well designed and fun
" This will be important component of my harbour and when I saw it had a light brick it went onto my wishlist. Its an easy but fun build with some nice clever detail, expecially the micro seagulls and the Orca. I most liked the fact that the base lock together with pins so it can be rearranged to look different and lighthouse can also be reconfigured, The only niggle is the light switch which won't stay on and is a bit obtrusive, I'll replace it with a white axle cone and white technic brick which will hide it better. Essential to extend railway
" I have bought two of these and am considering the need for more. The straight track is much more useful than the short flex segments but the flex segments are very useful to lengthen curved sections or when joining two loops to even out inconsistencies. I haven't noticed loss of traction when trains hit the flex segments but noise level does increase significantly. Please Lego, can you produce packs of just straight track, it would be a top seller I'm sure. "

Awesome, loved building this model
" I just had to buy this model when I saw it assembled in a Lego shop. The Internet pictures impress, but don't convey the visual experience when you have your nose six inches from the model. There is so much going on, although I added to fun by posing minifigures on the model as I assembled it over a period of several weeks, a few pages each day.
My only criticism, are the short cuts in areas you can't see that well. Parts you would expect, or occassional strange coloured pieces. I queried this when I went back to the store part way through building model, it was explained that this was a cost saving measure by Lego, to help keep cost of models down.
I just don't understand how you could buy one of these and leave it sealed in its box, unless you always have to buy two!
Next up is the Pet Shop, which I've already bought. "
