Generally just a good fun and interesting set.
" The TIE striker in itself is a wonderful design (I'm sure many might disagree) and LEGO had really done it justice.
As a build this set is a very interesting and engaging set; it could very easily have become repetitive BUT I found it maintained interest throughout.
The cockpit section (with cargo bay) really was the best bit to construct throughout. Although if I had to find a fault (and I am stretching this) then perhaps the cargo bay would have had more room or room for a co-pilot/gunner.
As a collector, this is a lovely looking set and feels bulky and solid. It does look terrific on display!
For the kids, this set is again a wonderful vehicle; with all the swooshability that TIE fighters should have. The minifigure selection is good as well (LEGO could have easily gotten away with omitting the Rebel Trooper so I was pleased to see him included)
OVERALL: a lovely looking and solid set with an interesting build for collectors and kids. (Although some smaller kids will need help with this one...which in my book makes it even more interesting as we parents can join in!)
Positives: A good fun build for a solid and beautiful set. The minifigure selection is phenomenal (for this set at least) and offers genuine play value.
Negatives: Perhaps the cargo bay...would have been better as a rear seat (but this is me TRYING to find fault perhaps where there isn't one)
Overall Lego has scored a goal with this one. For the parents, this offers genuine play value and a good fun build...that we as parents can get involved in as well. "

A great set...but perhaps a little overpriced
" Firstly, this IS a great set; it is a very good representation of the Landing Pad on Scarif. The build is good fun and interesting.
For the kids (the target audience of course...) this will provide a good hour of fun in the build alone. The 'playset' nature of this set promises to provide many hours of additional fun afterwards.
Many people have queried the characters and in some regard I agree. I think that perhaps they should have included K-2SO in this set. I think that four minifigures at this price range is a little thin on the ground.
Cassian's outfit doesn't seem to tie in with Jyn's disguise HOWEVER it is a new figure and we haven't had Cassian in this outfit before so it's not entirely without merit.
As a Collector, this set perhaps doesn't offer anything new (other than the new outfit mentioned above) HOWEVER as a collector, I enjoy having sets on display and in this sense this is a nice set.
Like the Battle of Takadona (last year's Battle Set) this one is targeted to LEGO's target audience and we should not criticise that. It's a very fun set for the kids, and looks good for the collectors as well.
Positives: Fun build, GREAT play value, new figure designs, and a recreation of perhaps one of the best scenes in any Star Wars film.
Negatives: Slightly, although if I am honest, only slightly overpriced. One more figure would have negated this issue immediately.
Overall: A fun set, a GREAT set for kids which offers an interesting build and a bespoke playset. "

An incredibly fun little set
" As a parent (and massive LEGO fan who tends to buy sets for myself...and then feel guilty and buy one for my son too) I will pass judgement as an Adult collector and as a parent.
As a collector, this is an incredibly beautiful little set. Whilst it does still feel slightly un-finished this set is NOT designed for the AFOL as such and in that sense I appreciate its construction. It serves its purpose in a beautiful way; the Plasma Power Plant, the Laser Walls, the Walkway, the Pit and of course the characters. As an AFOL this set really does provide (in terms of the minifigures) and is great for a collector.
For the kids, this set is absolutely fabulous. It provides in stacks and is probably one of the best 'playset' sets out there right now. Compare this to the Desert Skiff and this one really comes into its own. The Desert Skiff is good BUT it falls short as a 'complete' playset as it does not feel like a complete scene. Obviously the Duel on Naboo has the advantage of the fact that it only has the three characters; but this is what makes this one so great for kids.
As an Adult, I would recommend this set to collectors; it's a fun build, superb minifigures, and perhaps a good excuse to feel a kid again, to feel like its 1999...
As a parent, this set is one of the best (if not THE best) out there for kids at the moment. A complete scene (of a brilliant scene!!) and offers them a decent build, plus a compact playset.
Value: This set is brilliant value!
How would I compare this set? Well to begin with I'd compare it to the Carbon Freezing Chamber of last year...HOWEVER I would say this one is much better as (owing to the source material) it has a far more complete feel to it...in terms of play value and characters.
POSITIVES: Line up of Characters, play value, source material, fun little build, VALUE!
Negatives: One more wall section would have mitigated EVERYTHING. The lack of a second wall leaves it somewhat lacking, BUT the positives vastly outweigh the negatives here.
Verdict: BUY THIS! "
