Traditional legend in contemporary form

" For whom don't know about the Monkey King, it is very easy to explain: every and each Chinese people knows him.

The Monkey King is the most important hero in a very famous fiction dated from the Ming dynasty (about 500 years ago), the prototype could be traced back to the Tang dynasty (about 1400 years ago), related to the real legend of Xuanzang, a Buddhist monk, traveling to ancient India and carrying back the Buddhist scriptures. Monkey King is an imagined character companying and protecting Xuanzang all the way.

This is a really excellent set combining the traditional and contemporary elements. The structure resembles the features from Gundam models. If you have ever assembled a Gundam model, you would know what I mean.

I like that the set includes several different kinds of materials, such as the clothes as cloak. The fine details are also very interesting, however, posters, manual, arcade game machine are only in Chinese characters. some of you may not catch the humorous points.

Cons: although the structure is similar to Gundam model, the degree of freedom of joints is much less than Gundam. Most joints are very robust, but the ankles are relatively much weak, and the positions of thumbs are problematic, so the Monkey King only has several stable poses to show, and I feel sorry for him. "
