"I absolutely adore this set of minifigs. I bought this set with the classic building block basket and have enough varied people now to create any scene out of my imagination. My favorites are the wheelchair user and the baby in the stroller. As a sometimes wheelchair user myself it is nice to be able to build adaptable scenes that depict my reality. I love how I can mix and match the body parts to create a whole new set of minifigs (purists, don't hate me). I can put a woman in the wheelchair, just like me. This set of minifigs is a better deal than going to the lego store in the mall and trying to build my minifigs there. For a new lego builder, consider this minifigs set with a classic brick box and let their imagination take off."
"This set is Incredible! It has bricks of every color range so no matter what pre-designed sets you want to add on to you can stay within the original color scheme. And it's not just bricks, but those all important small pieces too, sideways bricks, dots, transparents, even a few windows and doors. This set has enough bricks to complete an entire scene of your own imagination or to create multiple add-on scenes for other sets. You don't have to pull apart every small thing you make just to make the next piece in your imagination. By far my favorite brick set in the entire lego catalog. Use this set to create and build without pre-set instructions, though there are plenty of instructions for small builds online. This set is the true history of lego bricks, before pre-designed sets became all the rage."
"The build was easy but had several nice features that I enjoyed seeing go together for such a simple set. I was leary at first of the molded boat piece but it doesn't take away from the build at all and it's nice to have an actual floatable lego toy. My favorite part is the cockpit, nice details. The winch really works too, does great lowering the various subs and remotes from the related sets. Nice selection of mini-figs and I love the deep sea diver with his oxygen tank."
"This has great play potential, especially when used with other theme sets. For example, I have the Scooby Doo set where Shaggy is waterskiing, it's difficult to waterski with an octopus clinging on to your skis, just ask Shaggy! There isn't much in this set but all the pieces are playable across sets so the value is higher in my viewpoint."
"This is a great display set. Especially with all of the detail in the books and desk and curtains, etc. But it is not good for playing, I don't think it was designed with playing in mind. It is not very sturdy and has small unattached pieces that could easily get lost. The living room area should also be larger, the details and minifigs are crammed in there pretty tight.
It is not a complicated build but with all the many small pieces for the detail work it does take a fair bit of time to build. I do not think that most children would enjoy this set, too many small pieces. It is obviously designed for adults who are fans of the show. Which I am, so I find it a delightful set to display."
"The sub is the feature of this set. It's very sturdy once assembled and great for play. It is very streamlined and really looks like an underwater sub.
I put this set with my scooby doo haunted lighthouse set for additional play, (oh no! The swamp monster has a mini-sub! Don't let him get away!)
It is a bit more complicated than some sets and young children may need a hand."
"The corner fenders keep falling off. The van isn't very sturdy and pieces fall off when playing with it. But it is a very cool set for gentle handling. Great detail. Build is simple."
"I got this set for the science lab setup and I wasn't disappointed. It's quite realistic as far as a lab might be setup in the real world.
The set is fairly sturdy for playtime. But there are lots of small independent pieces that younger children could easily lose.
I also love the sled dog build. Very cute! The conveyor belt actually works and the ice pieces don't fall off haphazardly. So that is a plus for the playtime.
I do wish there had been a couple more figures included so all the aspects of the set could be played with at once."
"The entire set is very sturdy and should stand up to play without falling apart. The design of the island and light house is a nice design, an easy build that looks complex and contains several hidey holes and moving pieces.
My favorite part of the set is the speedboat and waterskiing Shaggy. Second favorite is the light on top of the lighthouse, it's very sturdy, seals a hidden compartment and looks like a lighthouse light, quite realistic given that it's legos.
The monsters are great! People in monster suits, even complete with a "normal" non-monster face for when they are caught and demasked!"
