...and further apologies for drawing attention to it xD
The Resistance Troopers Battle Pack is both a fun and memorable set, and I'll be sad to it see it off the shelves. It hearkens back to the old battle packs and exudes a very pleasing nostalgia factor, despite being entirely new.
This is the first set to include Resistance troopers, of which there are three, and that makes it an absolute must. Their helmets are beautifully molded, and their torsos – whilst plain – are well-printed. The Resistance officer is also excellently realized, and could easily be modified to resemble Ken Leung's character from the film.
The model itself is another highlight. Although easy to miss, it actually does show up in The Force Awakens, so it's not something TLG made up. Most people probably won't care, but for me, that's a definite plus.
The speeder/transport is well-designed, and very sturdy. It also has two, unprinted droid heads used for the engines, which are extremely rare, and the articulating canon is a unique touch. The overall look is very similar to The Phantom Menace's Flash Speeder, so if you didn't want to drop $30 on that set, this is a nice, small alternative.
It's also an excellent pairing with other TFA sets. It will make any Resistance vehicle feel like it's docked at a base, which is really nice for anyone who likes to display. Combine it with Poe's X-wing and the Resistance Transport, and you won't be disappointed.
Overall, I don't have many issues with the set. It's a bit bare-bones, perhaps, but I just can't find a lot to complain about. It's one of the best battle packs we've had in years."
Perhaps the Supreme Leader should use a Clone army
"Overall, I'm happy with this battle pack. It's not quite what I was hoping for, but it'll do.
The minifigures are excellently done; the molds are as good as they've ever been, and the printing is great. The problem is the selection – it would have made a lot more sense to include three stormtroopers and one officer, as opposed to an engineer. Especially since the adjacent Resistance Troopers Battle Pack follows said format: three troopers and an officer.
Regardless, it's true that it will be far easier to get your hands on an engineer, and if you already own Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle or the First Order Transport, you already have a few generic stormtroopers. So it evens itself out.
(It's also worth noting that this is the first set to include a stormtrooper in tactical gear, which is a definite plus. But it's disappointing that he doesn't include a heavy canon, as seen in the movie.)
Minifigures aside, the build itself is what's really disappointing. It's meant to be one of the turrets on Starkiller Base, which is fine, but the problem is that it's 1/10th the size it's supposed to be. It would have been better to simply make up a vehicle, imo, as this structure is really quite useless and is better used for spare parts.
I am, however, biased against turret sets, so realize what angle I'm coming from. If you like those, this set will probably catch your fancy, as it's a nice enough-looking model. And it does rotate and shoot a single stud, which is cool.
if you're into that sort of thing
Like all other battle packs, this set is $3 more than it should be, imo. If you add tax, that extra $10 you'll be spending to get only TWO of these is a real deterrent, and given the minifigure selection, you probably WILL want to get (at least) two.
Ultimately, this is the only option currently available for getting First Order minifigures in a cheap set, so I have to recommend it only for that reason. Is it disappointing? Yes. But it gets the job done, so I can only complain so much."
I picked it up the day it came out, went straight home, opened the box, and—three and a half hours later—sat and marveled at its intricate detail and functions for hours. Exactly two weeks later, I'm still in love with it.
The price is relatively fair at slightly over the 10 cents per piece standard. But, despite the piece count, the completed model doesn't really look like its price tag. It's more of a $70-ish looking set, which is what it SHOULD have been priced at, but I'm not complaining too much on that front, especially when the TIE-Fighter is already taking enough flak on that front.
The build is straightforward and at no point was I confused. The way the nose comes together is like if magic and shear genius had a baby. It's amazing. There's almost no repetition, except for the wings. I found myself getting a little worn out by the final bag, but overall, I think the instructions were paced well.
There's one noticeable issue, however: The engines on the back don't fit correctly into their slots. They can fall off unless you put them in as best as possible. It's not a deal breaker, but it's annoying and could have been handled better. You'd expect more from a set at this price.
The landing gear is good, but somewhat delicate. You have to be careful not to apply to much pressure when the X-wing is landed, or else the landing gear will collapse under its weight. I can't complain too much; there's really no alternative design.
The profile is also not quite accurate to the new TFA X-wings. The canopy sits up too high, and the nose is too flat. This looks similar to a classic X-wing, whilst the new ones are streamlined. The wings also don't fold accurately, and I'm sure they could with a better design. Still, they open and close by twisting a gear on the top, and that's awesome.
All these faults are lessened by the fact that the set is GORGEOUS. It's stunning, sturdy, playable, and just plain amazing.
I recommend it, unless you have some kind of crazy OCD or something. xD It's not as accurate as it could be, but it's stunning in and of itself."

Don't expect a plain ole minifigure if you order this (or any others)—the back is a magnet, and the pieces are glued together. Not that I'm complaining; it's exactly what I expected. But people seem to forget what the product is called: A magnet. And it does its job well.
It's a tad pricey, but understandably so, given LEGO's superb quality. If you want an actual minifigure, I point you to other websites that sell them loose, or else advise you to look for them in actual sets.
"I find it odd that people are complaining about three dollars. I mean, skip coffee tomorrow morning and you've compensated for the increase in price. But maybe that's just me.
Anyway, not much to review here. It's a good foundation for brickfilm sets especially, but I may also use a few to create a Tatooine display. Couldn't be happier with the product! ^_^"
"Outstanding update compared to the previous set. It's interesting how the T-16 is only in Star Wars for a brief moment as a model ship, yet it has developed such a large cult following. Admittedly, I'm also a fan, so when I saw this in town I couldn't resist.
The build is quite enjoyable. Unlike most Star Wars ships, this was not repetitive to assemble in the least. Ships with two wings and a center are always dull to build due to their repetitive nature, but this set's design luckily avoids this. The center fin is pretty much the equivalent of what you would get if advanced engineering and magic had a baby. The involvement of Technic pieces adds an unbelievable level of structural integrity. I would have never expected a set of this design to be among the sturdiest ships, and yet it is.
It also looks very good on display, but know that you'll need to build one if you want the wings positioned correctly. Otherwise it looks awkward, and it doesn't balance very well. I built a docking station for it which turned out very nicely.
The minifigures are nice, but not the draw in my opinion. The Tusken Raider is quite fantastic, though.
The T-16 holds true to typical Star Wars sets pricing, but you really feel like you're getting your money's worth. This set is big. If you could only pick up one January set, you can't go wrong with this. All in all, get this before it's gone. The ship is so obscure to the common fan that I doubt we'll see it again anytime soon."
